Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a bag, in particular a plastic bag, in particular a garbage storage bag, of the so-called "elastic band” type, bordering the opening of the bag to enable the bag to be elastically retained on a bin, and a bag method of manufacturing such a bag.
  • plastic bags generally comprise two plastic faces connected to one another on their periphery, leaving an opening zone. These bags are most often rectangular in shape, although other forms are possible: for example, the bottom of the bag may have a rounded shape. In the remainder of the description, for convenience, reference will be made to rectangular shaped bags, but it is understood that the bags according to the present invention are not limited to this form.
  • the bags can be prepared from two rectangular sheets of plastic material by welding three sides of the rectangle and leaving the fourth side open. They can also be prepared from a single sheet of plastic material that is folded, either to form the bottom of the bag, or to form a lateral side of the bag, two of the other sides being heat-welded. In known manner, in the bags, the faces can be connected together by a bellows at the bottom and / or at a lateral side, preferably both lateral sides.
  • the link may consist of a single strand, the two ends of the link being fixed between them. It may also consist of two strands, each strand being fixed by each of its ends to the sheath.
  • the link is preferably a plastic tape capable of being heat-welded.
  • the sheath is usually prepared by folding the sheet of plastic parallel to the opening and heat-sealing parallel to the edge of the film.
  • the sheath can be continuous or formed of two separate parts. This is particularly the case when the bags are formed by heat-sealing the lateral sides and that the sheath is formed by folding the plastic sheet before heat-sealing the lateral sides.
  • a bag of the type to sliding link wherein the sliding link is of elastic or expandable material.
  • This closed-loop elastic link is characterized by the fact that the length of its periphery is less than that of the opening of the bag, so that the user must elastically extend the sliding link to fix it around the periphery of the bag.
  • a receptacle for example a bin.
  • the above elastic sliding link bags have a double disadvantage, due to the presence of lateral recesses, relatively deep, which are formed on the longitudinal edge of the bag opening.
  • the presence of these relatively wide recesses on the one hand has the disadvantage of not allowing complete closure of the bag, when the sliding links are knotted after filling the bag. Indeed, during the transport or the storage of the bags filled with waste, waste could escape by these abutments.
  • the presence of these relatively wide recesses decreases the length of sheath in contact with the link, and therefore weakens the bag when it is transported full using the elastic sliding link as a handle.
  • Document EP-A-1 013 567 also discloses a bag of the sliding link type made of plastic, and comprising an elastic band whose ends are fixed by a hot-melt glue to one of the external faces of the bag, in the vicinity but away from the sheath enclosing the sliding plastic link.
  • This elastic band is gripped from the outside by the user, after the edge of the bag has been folded around the neck of a bin, and the user can elastically extend it so that the ribbon forms a loop closed that can grip the periphery of the container, for elastically holding the bag on the trash.
  • the elastic band preferably of rubber, can be chosen to have a maximum elongation of 800%, this elastic band preferably has an elastic elongation of less than 500%.
  • the elastic tape has a rest length of the order of a quarter of the length of the periphery of the container.
  • the elastic band is elongated so as to surround only three sides of the container, which corresponds to an elastic elongation of the order of 200%, that is to say a tripling of its length.
  • the elastic strip is elongated so as to form a closed loop which encloses the entire periphery of the container, which corresponds to an elastic elongation of the order of 400%, ie a multiplication by five its length at rest.
  • the elastic tape has a length slightly less than the half-periphery of the container, so that it is necessary to form a closed loop with the elastic tape to ensure the elastic retention of the bag on the container, which corresponds to an elastic elongation of at least 200%, that is to say at least a tripling of its length.
  • this elastic band is used solely for the elastic holding of the bag on the container, while the plastic sliding link is used for the knotting, in order to close the bag.
  • the document EP-A-1 266 837 discloses a bag of the sliding link type of plastic, further comprising an elastic tape which is attached at its ends to the lateral edges of the bag and is, in a variant, housed in the same sheath as the plastic sliding link, or disposed on the outer face of said sheath.
  • an elastic tape which is attached at its ends to the lateral edges of the bag and is, in a variant, housed in the same sheath as the plastic sliding link, or disposed on the outer face of said sheath.
  • the elastic elongation of the tape must be greater than 200%, for example 250% and preferably 300% or more.
  • the plastic sheets constituting the sides of the bag as well as the various links and ribbons are driven on multiple rollers or drive rollers, to ensure a tensioning minimum of all these elements.
  • a highly elastic ribbon subjected to such tensioning could undergo elastic deformations during the process of manufacture of the bag chain, affecting the quality of the thermo-welds, or even causing a puckering of the bag, if these welds are not properly made.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to propose a bag of the elastic band type making it possible to fix the periphery of the bag elastically on a receptacle and which makes it possible to avoid the aforementioned drawbacks.
  • Another object of the invention is to avoid the risk of waste falling out of the bag, after closing it.
  • the invention also aims to limit the risk of rupture or tearing of the elastic band or the risk of deformation of the elastic band during transport of the filled bag including waste.
  • the subject of the invention is a bag consisting of two faces connected to each other over their entire periphery, with the exception of a longitudinal edge, the bag having an opening opening on said longitudinal edge, the two sides of the bag. being welded to one another along two opposite lateral edges, at least one face being provided, in the vicinity of said opening, with at least one elastic band connected to said face by two connecting zones so that the useful length at rest of said elastic band between the two connecting zones corresponds to the spacing between the two connection zones on the bag and is less than the length of the longitudinal edge of said face of the bag, a bag of this type being described in the document EP-A-1 013 567.
  • the bag according to the invention is characterized in that the elastic band extends over the entire width of the bag, from one side edge to the other, said elastic band being welded to both sides of the bag along said lateral edges, at least one of the two aforementioned connecting zones forming an intermediate so-called connecting zone located at a distance from the two aforementioned lateral edges.
  • the effective length at rest of the elastic band may vary slightly, depending on the elasticity of the band and its slight deformation during its welding to the bag.
  • This elastic band which is not housed in a sheath, can thus be manufactured continuously in a method of manufacturing a bag chain, while having a reduced useful length, corresponding to the narrowing of the extensible and gripping portion of the outside of said elastic band due to the presence of the intermediate bonding zone between the two lateral edges of the bag.
  • the elastic band has a rest length significantly less than the width of the bag. Even if a passage, purely general and without any example of application, indicates that this band can extend over the entire width of the bag, there is no provision for it to be welded to the side edges of the bag.
  • This band is in practice fixed by a heat-adhesive glue, which can not therefore be located at the welds of the lateral edges of the bag, without affecting the good bonding of the band on the bag.
  • Each strip is bonded individually and discontinuously, as can be seen in FIGS. 7 and 17, which distances the person skilled in the art from the present invention which is suitable for welding a continuous elastic band along the length of a chain of bags.
  • each face of the bag comprises a sheath bordering said opening and in which is disposed a non-elastic sliding link, each non-elastic sliding link being grippable from the outside by at least one recess formed through said sheaths, so that this non-elastic sliding link serves essentially to knot for closure of the bag, while the elastic band serves mainly to maintain elastic bag on a container.
  • each face of the bag is folded inwards, along the longitudinal edge of the bag, so that part of the fold forms the aforementioned sheath and is extended beyond by a skirt, said elastic band being connected to the corresponding face of the bag overlapping at least partially said skirt.
  • the intermediate bonding zone can be made at least partially on a double thickness of plastic sheets constituted by a face of the bag and the aforementioned skirt.
  • this intermediate bonding zone does not extend in the portion of the fold forming the sheath, in order to let the non-elastic link freely slide in the sheath.
  • the fact of performing the welding of the elastic band at its intermediate bonding zone on a double sheet thickness reinforces the intermediate weld which is subjected to high tensile stresses.
  • each face of the bag associated with the elastic band is folded inwards along the longitudinal edge of the bag, so that the elastic band is connected to said face, overlapping at least partially said fold.
  • the other of the two aforementioned bonding zones forms another intermediate bonding zone situated at a distance from the two aforementioned lateral edges and from the first intermediate bonding zone.
  • the other of the two aforementioned bonding areas is constituted by the weld zone of the elastic band with the lateral edge of the bag furthest from the aforementioned intermediate bonding zone.
  • both sides of the bag form a double layer of sheets for bonding the elastic band at the side edge.
  • each elastic band is connected to an inner face of the bag.
  • each elastic band may be connected to an outer face of the bag.
  • each elastic band is longitudinally cut into two vertically adjacent strands, the respective connection areas of which are in the vertical extension of one another, so that the two strands form with the bag a closed loop, each strand of which is intended to grip an opposite side of a container.
  • one of the strands will remain along the side of the bag that carries it, while the other strand will be elastically elongated to grip the opposite side of the container.
  • the intermediate bonding zone of the elastically elongated strand which is subjected to the highest stresses, is thus locally reinforced by the intermediate bonding zone of the adjacent strand.
  • the elastic band has a degree of elongation of less than 150%, and preferably of the order of 100%.
  • this elastic band is based on ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA).
  • the bag 1 consists of two substantially parallel rectangular faces 1a, 1b, the faces 1a, 1b being constituted by the same sheet of plastics material. which is folded to form the bottom 1c of the bag, the bottom 1c being rounded when the bag is in the carrying position, as shown in Figure 2.
  • the faces 1a and 1b are brought back one against the other and are connected at the bottom 1c by a flat fold, as shown in Figure 1.
  • the faces 1a and 1b are interconnected by corresponding welds 2a and 3a.
  • These welds 2a and 3a extend substantially over the entire height of the bag 1 and form a vertical line, but these welds may not be linear but extend over the entire lateral marginal zone of the bag.
  • the periphery of the bag comprises an opening zone 1d defined along the longitudinal edge of each face 1a and 1b, the longitudinal edge of each face 1a and 1b extending at the level of the zone of opening 1d, by an inner fold 4, one end of which is welded to the corresponding face of the bag by a longitudinal weld 4a.
  • This fold 4 extends beyond the longitudinal weld 4a by a skirt 4b, which may be free or itself welded to the corresponding face of the bag.
  • the longitudinal weld 4a is preferably continuous over the entire width of the bag. It can also be non-continuous, in broken lines or in dashed lines.
  • the inner fold 4 forms a sheath 8 in which is disposed a non-elastic sliding link 6.
  • a strip of elastic material 16 On the skirt 4b of the face of the bag, is disposed a strip of elastic material 16, which is connected to the side edges 2 and 3 by the transverse weld lines 2a and 3a.
  • the elastic band 16 completely overlaps the skirt 4b, without interfering with the sheath 8, so that the non-elastic sliding link, for example plastic, can freely slide between its ends which are also welded with the transverse welds 2a and 3a.
  • the lower edge of the elastic band 16 may exceed or exactly correspond to the lower edge of the skirt 4b.
  • the elastic band 16 has a so-called intermediate connection zone 17 with the face 1a of the bag, which consists of a vertical line of welding or gluing or the like, this line 17 being limited to the height of the strip 16.
  • the strip elastic 16 overlaps the longitudinal weld 4a, without interfering with the sliding link 6, so that the tensile forces exerted on the line 17 are taken up by the weld 4a, thereby reinforcing the strength of the line 17 to the tear.
  • each side of the bag could comprise an elastic band.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 there is shown a recess 12, substantially in the middle part of each sheath 8, along the longitudinal edge of the opening of the bag, the recess 12 passing through the faces 1a and 1b of the bag, each side of it.
  • This recess is represented here of substantially semicircular shape, but it could have any shape, for example oval or square, or other, and it is not necessary that the sliding link 6 is apparent throughout its height through the 12.
  • This recess 12 may be provided laterally, substantially similar to the recess 112 which will be described later with reference to the embodiments of Figures 6 and 7.
  • the main function of the elastic band 16 is to allow the periphery of the bag to be elastically adjusted to the edge of a receptacle, whereas the non-elastic tie 6 will be used mainly to carry the bag once filled with waste and / or to tie the links 6 to close the bag (see Figure 8). Given the provision of the link 6 and the band 16, it is understood that closing the bag will be completely closed, avoiding or limiting the risk waste falling out of the bag during transport or storage.
