Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of pressure switches for pressures up to a maximum allowable pressure.
- a pressure acts on a membrane.
- the membrane undergoes a deflection and is thereby stretched.
- This deflection corresponds to a stroke, e.g. can be transmitted via a plunger to an electrical contact system.
- the deflection of the membrane under pressure must be limited by a stop, as this can be overstretched at too high pressure. Usually prevents a mechanical stop this overstretching.
- a corresponding stop must be very accurate. Conventionally, these stops are made by machining or pressing machining. They are therefore always subject to manufacturing tolerances, which means that either the maximum allowable stroke of the membrane is not utilized or exceeded. Exceeding the maximum allowable stroke may damage the diaphragm.
- a method is to be provided, with which a pressure switch can be produced, which has a mechanical stop for the membrane, against which the membrane rests when exposed to the maximum permissible pressure over the entire surface.
- the pressure switch according to the invention for pressures up to a maximum allowable pressure p max has a housing and a membrane, wherein the membrane is mounted in the housing.
- the membrane has a side on which a pressure can act and is deflected when pressure is applied to it.
- the membrane is secured in the housing so that the deflection of the membrane leads to an expansion.
- the pressure switch further comprises a device that converts the membrane deflection into a stroke, and an electrical contact system that cooperates with the device.
- the device causes a diaphragm deflection to result in actuation of the electrical contact system.
- the pressure switch further comprises a cast stop which completely fills a cavity between an inner wall of the housing and the side of the membrane remote from the pressure when the membrane is subjected to the maximum permissible pressure p max .
- the invention also provides a method of manufacturing a pressure switch for pressures up to a maximum allowable pressure p max .
- the method comprises the steps of: attaching a membrane in a housing, the membrane having a side on which a pressure p can act; Pressurizing the diaphragm with the maximum permissible pressure p max , whereby the membrane is bent; Filling a cavity, which forms between a housing inner wall and a side of the membrane, which faces away from the pressure, with a liquid potting compound, while the maximum allowable pressure p max is maintained.
- the hardening of the potting compound results in the cast stop, which completely fills the cavity.
- casting compounds for example, polyurethane or epoxy resins can be used.
- the curing can be through Heat supply (eg inductive) to be accelerated. Another way to accelerate curing is by exposure to light.
- the unavoidable in machining or pressing processing manufacturing tolerances eliminated.
- the stop is individually adapted to the membrane and thus can compensate for manufacturing tolerances of the membrane. The membrane is fully exposed to the stop when exposed to the maximum permissible pressure p max . This can not lead to a local overstretching.
- the device for transmitting the membrane deflection is a plunger which is guided by the housing.
- the membrane is made of metal.
- the stop consists of a hardened potting compound.
- FIG. 1 shows a section of a section of a pressure switch in conventional technology with its essential parts.
- a membrane 2 is fixed, which is shown in a state in which no pressure is applied to the membrane.
- the housing inner wall is machined so that stop surfaces 3 are formed to prevent overstretching of the membrane 2.
- a plunger 4 is used to implement the membrane bend in a hub, which is forwarded to an unillustrated electrical contact system.
- Figure 2 shows the same pressure switch upon application of a pressure p, which is smaller than the maximum allowable pressure P max . Due to the manufacturing tolerances in the production of the abutment surfaces 3, the membrane 2 is already in some places at the stop, although the maximum allowable pressure p max has not yet been reached. The position of the membrane 2 in the unpressurized state is indicated by dashed lines. Tappet 4 is deflected by a stroke s.
- the sectional view in Figure 3 shows a corresponding push button switch in which not yet or contacts at least not over the entire surface due to manufacturing tolerances, the membrane 2, the stop surfaces 3, although pressure is already p the maximum allowable pressure has p max is reached or even exceeded.
- the maximum possible stroke s is undershot by a distance ⁇ s. The possible hub is therefore not fully utilized.
- the membrane can be overstretched.
- FIG. 4 shows a section of a pressure switch according to the invention during the manufacturing process.
- a housing 1 has a uniform wall thickness, there is no stop surface incorporated.
- a membrane 2 is is clamped with its peripheral edge on the housing 1 and is subjected to a maximum allowable pressure p max .
- the membrane 2 is therefore in the maximum permissible stretched state.
- a plunger 4 is deflected by the maximum stroke s.
- a cavity is formed. This cavity is now filled by an opening 7 of the housing 1 with a liquid potting compound to pour a stopper 5 with an optimally adapted stop surface 6 ( Figure 5).
- the sealing compound is cured. This process can be accelerated by inductive heat. Depending on the material used, an acceleration by light is possible. After curing of the potting compound, the pressure p max can be removed.
- Figure 5 shows the pressure switch according to the invention after curing of the sealing compound.
- Diaphragm 2 is in unloaded condition, there is no pressure on the pressure switch.
- Tappet 4 is not deflected.
- the cured potting compound such as a polyurethane resin or an epoxy resin, forms a stop 5, which occupies the cavity of Figure 4 completely.
- Stop 5 has a stop surface 6, against which the membrane 2 is applied over the entire surface when acted upon by the maximum pressure p max . With the stop 5 ensures that the membrane 2 is not overstretched, but the maximum possible stroke s is utilized.

Abstract
Description
- Figur 1 eine Schnittdarstellung eines Druckschalters nach dem Stand der Technik mit einer Membran im nicht-ausgedehnten Zustand;
- Figur 2 eine Schnittdarstellung eines Druckschalters nach dem Stand der Technik mit einer Membran, die mit einem Druck kleiner dem maximal zulässigen Druck beaufschlagt ist;
- Figur 3 eine Schnittdarstellung eines Druckschalters nach dem Stand der Technik, wobei die Membran mit einem Druck größer dem maximal zulässigen Druck beaufschlagt ist;
