Die explosionsgeschützte Leuchte verfügt über einen Leuchtmittelträger, z.B. einen Reflektor, auf dem als Lichtquelle eine Mehrzahl von parallelen Leuchtmittelträgerstreifen mit Leuchtdioden fest angebracht sind. Dabei können ein oder mehrere Leuchtmittelstreifen, vorzugsweise die äußeren, geneigt angeordnet sein. Die Leuchtdioden können weiß oder farbig leuchtend sein. Mehrere Leuchtmittelträgerstreifen können hintereinander verbunden sein, um in der Länge variabel zu sein. Wahlweise sind die Leuchtmittelträgerstreifen mit Linsenaufsätzen versehen, um eine intensivere Leuchtstärke und bessere Lichtstreuung zu erreichen. Ebenfalls wahlweise ist der Leuchtmittelträger (Reflektor) mit den Leuchtmittelträgerstreifen in der Lampenabdeckung befestigt. Der Leuchtmittelträger (Reflektor) ist im Querschnitt flach, konvex oder trapezförmig ausgebildet.
