Description

The present invention relates to an arrangement for emitting light according to the preamble of claim 1, which is adapted to be attached to a in a first plane extending support element, such as a ceiling, and a surface, which in a second, substantially is perpendicular to the first plane extending second level, to illuminate. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a so-called wallwasher, which has such an arrangement for emitting light.

Wallwashers are luminaires that according to their name serve to illuminate areas of a wall. These are generally recessed ceiling luminaires, which are designed such that they do not primarily emit their light - in contrast to conventional luminaires of the room lighting - downwards but instead radiate strongly asymmetrically or laterally light around an area located obliquely below the luminaire to illuminate a wall. Usually, such wallwashers are therefore positioned in the ceiling area in the vicinity of a wall.

To produce the highly asymmetrical light output, wallwashers, as known from the prior art, usually have so-called channel reflectors. These reflectors are designed such that they cast the light in the direction of the wall to be illuminated, although it has been found that the brightness distributions, which are achieved with such channel reflectors, have a strong maximum in the central region of the surface to be illuminated. Starting from this maximum, a strong decrease in brightness occurs laterally or above and below it, with only relatively little scope for influencing the distribution.

As an alternative way to illuminate a wall is in the US 2009/0296383 A1 describes a system in which the wall is illuminated in the context of a return reflection. The light source in the form of individual LEDs is in this case oriented such that the light is initially emitted in the opposite direction, but is subsequently reflected by a concave reflector in the direction of the wall to be illuminated.

Since usually the most uniform possible illumination of an area to be illuminated is desired, the present invention is the task Reason to provide a novel arrangement for light output, which is suitable for use in a wall washer and opens up the possibility to efficiently influence the brightness distribution. In particular, the possibility should be opened to illuminate a luminous area as evenly as possible.

The object is achieved by an arrangement for emitting light, which has the features of claim 1. Advantageous developments are the subject of the dependent claims.

According to the invention, the arrangement has a light source which initially emits light in a direction away from the surface to be illuminated. In addition, a reflector is provided, which is arranged and designed such that the light rays originating from the light source and occurring on the reflector are reflected back substantially uniformly distributed onto the surface to be illuminated.

According to the invention, therefore, an arrangement for emitting light is proposed, which is designed to be fastened to a support element extending in a first plane, for example a ceiling, and a surface which extends in a second, substantially perpendicular to the first plane Plane is to illuminate, the arrangement comprising:
  • a light source which emits light in a direction away from the surface to be illuminated, wherein the light source forms a single luminous surface, the light source is formed by a plurality of LEDs, and wherein the plurality of LEDs are covered by a color conversion material, and
  • a reflector which is arranged and designed such that the light beams incident from the light source are reflected substantially uniformly distributed on the surface to be illuminated.

In the solution according to the invention, it is thus provided that all the light emitted by the light source is directed to the surface to be illuminated only in the context of a back reflection. It has been found that this can significantly more efficient influence on the brightness distribution can be taken and in particular the possibility is opened, in the case of using the arrangement in a wall washer illuminate a wall area very evenly.

By covering the LEDs with the color conversion agent on the one hand ensures that light is delivered in the desired color, on the other hand no individual, individual luminous points of light can be seen, which could lead to local brightness maxima on the surface to be illuminated. The light source is preferably aligned in a plane which is aligned substantially parallel to the second plane, ie to the surface to be illuminated. However, it is facing away from the surface to be illuminated due to the principle of back reflection.

The reflector itself is, as already mentioned, designed such that the surface to be illuminated is illuminated with a uniform brightness. It is in particular a so-called free-form reflector, which has the appropriate photometric properties. Further, the reflector is curved at least in one direction, preferably in two mutually perpendicular directions, so that in fact can be effectively influenced in both directions influence on the brightness distribution.

As already mentioned, the arrangement according to the invention for emitting light is used in particular in so-called wallwashers. In this case, a suitably trained Wallwasher preferably be designed as a so-called ceiling light, which is thus mounted in the area of a ceiling, in which case only parts of the reflector in the fitted state of the lamp survive on the underside of the ceiling.

The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The only Fig. 1 shows schematically the construction of a Wallwashers with an inventive arrangement designed to emit light.

The sectional view of Fig. 1 illustrates both the structure of the arrangement according to the invention and the lighting task to be solved by means of the inventive arrangement. Shown is the lateral area of a room 100, which is bounded by a wall 101 and a ceiling 102 at its top. In this lateral area of the ceiling 102 is a so-called wallwasher 50 with an inventively designed arrangement for light output, which is generally provided with the reference numeral 1. The light emitted by the arrangement 1 is intended to illuminate a specific fixed area 110 of the wall 101, the area 110 preferably being to appear as uniform as possible over its entire height. same for Preferably also in the horizontal direction or in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, so that ultimately the area to be illuminated 110 as a whole, for example, is rectangular or elliptical in shape and should appear uniformly bright.

In order to achieve this desired brightness distribution on the wall 101, the arrangement according to the invention is constructed in a special way and has for this purpose as Essential components of a large-scale light source 10 and the light source 10 are opposed to a reflector 20.

The light source 10 is, in particular, an LED-based light source, preferably forming a single coherent light emission surface. This means that one or more LEDs are used, wherein when using a plurality of LEDs, these should be arranged as close as possible to each other and, moreover, they are preferably jointly covered by a color conversion material. This color conversion material, which is also used when using a single LED, serves on the one hand to influence the spectral distribution of the light emitted by the or the LEDs in a desired manner, for example, to achieve white light of a predetermined color temperature, on the other hand prevents in the case of a plurality of LEDs, these represent individual, essentially punctiform light sources, which could possibly lead to variations in the brightness of the area 110 to be illuminated.

The arrangement of the light source 10 is such that it is aligned substantially parallel to the wall 101 or to the area to be illuminated 110 and facing away from the wall 101, wherein for achieving a flat construction as possible, the LED chips preferably also in the so-called Chip-on-board technology is executed or mounted. The light source 10 is further coupled to a heat sink, not shown, in order to dissipate the heat occurring during operation efficiently.

The arrangement and orientation of the light source 10 causes the emitted light beams initially do not hit the wall 101. Instead, they are first reflected back by the reflector 20 such that they ultimately illuminate the area 110 to be illuminated. This principle of indirect illumination ensures that the light distribution on the wall 110 to be illuminated is determined primarily by the reflector 20, which in turn means that the brightness distribution can be changed in almost any desired manner by the corresponding design of the reflector 20. In particular, the shape of the reflector 20 may be selected to achieve the above-mentioned desired uniform brightness of the area 110 to be illuminated.

The reflector 20 is preferably designed in the form of a so-called freeform reflector, that is, its shape is not based on a single, the entire shape of the reflector descriptive mathematical equation but was optimized by modeling individual surface sections such that the Lighting task is solved. Basically, in this case, the reflector 20, as shown, a curvature, and in the event that the surface to be illuminated 110 should be limited in the horizontal direction or in the horizontal direction influence on the distribution to be taken, preferably in this direction, a corresponding curvature of the reflector 20 is present. Ultimately, therefore, can be taken very efficiently influence the brightness distribution with the illustrated, relatively simple structure.

Another feature of the arrangement 1 according to the invention is also that, when used as a wall washer 50, as shown, the components of the luminaire can be arranged substantially sunk in the ceiling 102 of the room 100. Only the lower portion of the reflector 20 is in this case on the ceiling bottom 102 over, which gives the light in the assembled state beyond also an interesting appearance. The diameter of the reflector 20 can be chosen according to the lighting task, a typical value for this is in the range of about 115 mm. Thus, the inventive arrangement for light output so extremely compact design, whereby the appearance is further improved.
