Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing an internal combustion engine with at least one cylinder liner which is surrounded by at least one coolant channel, wherein the coolant channel is assigned to its outside an insulating layer, wherein the insulating layer is at least partially introduced on the inner walls of the coolant channel to its outer sides.
- the internal combustion engines are used in motor vehicles.
- the internal combustion engines usually have a cylinder block with one or more cylinder liners and a cylinder block associated with the cylinder head.
- the cylinder block or cylinder head is usually cast aluminum or other suitable cast materials such. Cast iron produced. It is known that one or more cores for the formation of the or the coolant channels are positioned according to the casting in the mold before pouring.
- the internal combustion engine In the operation of the internal combustion engine fuel is consumed. During a cold start, the fuel consumption is typically 10 to 15% higher, compared to a fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine, which is already in an operating state for a long time. This is the so-called warm-up factor (cold / hot factor).
- the internal combustion engine is exposed to higher friction during a cold start because the cold operating oil has a much higher viscosity than warm operating oil.
- the internal combustion engine can be exposed to increased wear, so that the internal combustion engine has a relatively short life relative to its possible life.
- higher throttle losses, especially in gasoline engines observed because of the higher volumetric efficiency at lower temperatures.
- the JP 2001-020738 relates to a cooling device for an internal combustion engine.
- the cooling device has a water jacket, which has an internal heat insulation includes.
- the cooling device has such a structure that a coolant contacts an outer wall surface of a cylinder liner. An inner surface of the water jacket, not the outer wall surface of the cylinder liner, is covered by the insulating material.
- the insulation material is connected to a cylinder head gasket.
- the insulation material is inserted into the water jacket. This is only possible with so-called “open-deck” variants and can not be used in so-called “closed-deck” variants or even cylinder heads, since insertion is impossible due to existing webs. In addition, by inserting coolant could reach behind the insulation layer, whereby the insulation effect would be significantly reduced.
- the DE 199 35 335 A1 relates to an encapsulation for internal combustion engines, in which polyurethane foam is used as the material for the encapsulation.
- the internal combustion engine is provided with an insulating layer on its outer walls.
- the FR 2 745 332 discloses an internal combustion engine having a cylinder liner and at least one coolant channel, on the inner wall surface to its outer sides towards an insulating layer is arranged.
- the insulating layer consists of a polymer-like thermoset, but may also be formed from a thermoplastic.
- the DE 36 02 616 A1 refers to measures in an internal combustion engine to shorten the warm-up phase and / or to reduce the noise level in internal combustion engines.
- a layer is attached, which layer may also be a direct part of the engine block.
- the layer inhibits or retards heat transfer and / or sound transmission between the cooling fluid and the engine block.
- the layer is fully mounted in the engine block.
- the US 5,115,771 relates to a cooling system for cylinder liners in a motor.
- the cooling system includes a cylinder liner disposed in a cylinder block and having a thermal isolation channel disposed in an upper portion of the cylinder block and spaced from the cylinder liner. This increases the temperature of the wall surface of the cylinder liner at the upper portion.
- a coolant jacket is inserted in the cylinder block to surround a portion of the cylinder liner.
- the coolant jacket has a coolant inlet, which is arranged on a lower region of the cylinder liner, and a coolant outlet, which is arranged on an upper side of the cylinder liner.
- the cylinder block assembly includes a cylinder block and a plurality of cylinder bores formed in the cylinder block with intermediate portions formed between adjacent cylinder bores.
- a water jacket is inserted in the cylinder block to surround the plurality of cylinder bores.
- a plurality of oil passages are provided in the cylinder block outside the water jacket to allow oil to fall from the cylinder head therethrough to a crankcase.
- the plurality of oil wells is introduced between adjacent intermediate edge regions generally along the cooling jacket.
- a cylinder block for an internal combustion engine has a twin cylinder bushing containing metal.
- the twin cylinder sleeve has a radially outwardly directed, circular flange extension which is spaced but adjacent to the bottom of the Twin cylinder socket is.
- the cylinder block has an ambient jacket which, except around the flange unit, is spaced from the twin cylinder sleeve, the shell and the flange unit being potted together.
- the jacket is made of molded fiber-reinforced plastic, which is essentially adapted to the thermal expansion properties of the cylinder liner unit.
- An internal combustion engine is also disclosed.
- This includes a cylinder for burning a fuel-air mixture and includes a closed system that includes a fluid jacket to allow fluid to circulate around and cool the cylinder.
- An inorganic, substantially liquid and vapor impermeable foam is disposed in a fixed region of the liquid jacket. The liquid capacity of the liquid jacket is reduced without affecting the cooling capacity of the reduced refrigerant in the coolant jacket.
- the GB 1,561,638 relates to a liquid cooling system of an internal combustion engine in which seawater is passed as liquid coolant through a cooling space of the engine and surrounds a cylinder liner.
- a heat transfer retarder heat insulator
- a thermally insulating bushing disposed between the outer surface of the cylinder liner and the cooling space.
- the invention has for its object to improve an internal combustion engine of the type mentioned by simple means, so that it is performed faster after a cold start to a required operating temperature.
- the insulating layer Due to the production and arrangement of the insulating layer according to the invention, during the cold start or during a warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine, only the inner part of the cylinder block or cylinder liner, the cylinder head and the coolant itself are advantageously warmed up. Of the Outer part of the cylinder block or the cylinder head remains cooler for a longer time.
- a positive connection in the sense of the invention comes about in such a way that, for example, heat present in a casting process binds the material of the main body (cylinder block or cylinder head) to the material of the insulating layer to form an intimate unit.
- the wall portion is defined in the context of the invention, which is oriented in cross-section of the cylinder liner away. An opposite inner side is therefore oriented towards the cylinder liner.
- the insulation layer is positively connected to the respective walls, it is therefore advantageously provided that the insulation layer is produced by casting simultaneously during the production of the coolant channel.
- the insulation layer is cast directly into this during its production.
- the insulation layer is preferably arranged on the regions of the cores which are to form the outside of the inner wall of the coolant channel.
- the insulating material is seen in a cross-section preferably integrated in a part circle portion of the core surface corresponding to the core, so that preferably one half of the inner wall surface having the insulating layer.
- the insulating material can also cover more or less than one half of the coolant channel or even completely.
- the insulation material or the insulation layer is already integrated in the production of cores, in particular sand cores, it is advantageously achieved that a use of substantially thinner cores is made possible since a minimum thickness of the cores is influenced by their strength. If additional insulation material is incorporated into the cores, the core has a higher Strength, so that it can be made much thinner, resulting in significant cost savings.
- the volume of the insulation layer is preferably about 10 - 50%.
- the insulating layer may extend over the entire length of the coolant channel. However, it is also possible that the insulation layer is slightly shorter than the coolant channel length.
- the insulating layer consists of ceramic, wherein the insulating layer may also consist of a heat-resistant, synthetic material.
- the insulating layer is cast directly with the internal combustion engine, in particular in its coolant channel can be prepared with the inventive method, in particular cylinder heads or for example so-called "closed deck” variants with the insulating layer. Due to the positive connection of the insulating layer with the inner walls of the coolant channel to its outer sides also an improved thermal insulation is ensured. Because, in that the insulating layer is provided only on the outer sides of the coolant channel, wherein a cylinder liner arranged towards the region of the inner wall of the coolant channel just does not have this insulating layer, the coolant can absorb the heat generated in the cylinder liner heat, wherein the insulating layer to heat dissipation the remaining cylinder block or cylinder head largely prevented. Further, heat transfer from the engine to surrounding ambient air is reduced.
