  • these materials have the disadvantage that they fragility and they resist less well than metallic materials to tensile stresses and bending.
  • it happens in certain circumstances that the articulated chain crossing the tubular decorative links imposes efforts of this kind to some of them and burst one of their walls, which requires replacing the broken link. Incidents of this kind are very unfortunate when it comes to top of the line.
  • Like bracelets are articles where aesthetics plays a big role role, we can not always strengthen these links by a significant increase the thickness of their walls. There is therefore a need to remedy this situation at less partially by other means.
  • the present invention is based on the idea that the aforementioned breaks in Ceramic links can result from parasitic bending stresses produced in a transverse direction by the support of the hinge on the bottom of the link, when the abutment zones of the front surfaces of the two successive links are relatively distant laterally from the bearing area of the hinge, as will explain it in more detail below with reference to the drawings.

  • Each chain 5 consists of a series of metal links 11 each of which is connected to the next by a hinge 12 with axis transverse, this hinge having a pin 13 inserted through the knuckles 14 and 15 adjacent links 11.

  • each link 11 comprises two flat portions 21 juxtaposed and separated by a interval, as in the constructions described in publications CH 684 988 and EP 1 136 011, but it is understood that the present invention is usable in bracelets using different chains, provided that they include at least a hinge housed inside a decorative link.
  • the hinge 12 is housed in a clearance 22 at the entrance of the passage 20, this clearance opening on the first front face 23 of the decorative link 4.
  • the chain link 11 located in the 4 right decorative link also extends, by its knuckle 15, in the clearance input 22 of the left decorative link.
  • the bracelet can take a curved configuration thanks to the angular play of the hinges 12 of the chain.
  • This angular clearance is limited to the folded position shown in Figure 3, where the lower part of the front face 23 of the decorative link of left abuts against the lower part of the opposite end face 24 of the link decorative right. Consequently, the link on the right exerts a force represented by the arrow A on the lower part of the front face 23 of the other decorative link 4.
  • This force is balanced by an equivalent voltage in the chain. Due to the bent position of the hinge 12, this tension has the effect that the hinge 12 is supported on an inner surface 26 of the passageway 20 with a force F substantially perpendicular to the bearing surface 26.
