In dem Fall, in dem im Anschluss an den vorbestimmten Zeitpunkt der Brenner für eine vorbestimmte Zeitspanne bei stabilen Betriebsbedingungen betrieben wird, wird eine neue stabile Kalibrierung ermittelt, die die vorhergehende stabile Kalibrierung ersetzt. Diese sogenannte Wartezeit ist erforderlich, um eine zuverlässige oder auch stabile Kalibrierung der Regelung gewährleisten zu können. Verlässt der Brenner während der Kalibrierung bzw. während der vorgegebenen Zeitspanne die stabilen Betriebsbedingungen, so wird nach dem Stand der Technik die Kalibirierung abgebrochen und nach der alten Einstellung bzw. alten Kalibrierung geregelt. Erfindungsgemäß wird bei der Kalibrierung so vorgegangen, dass dann, wenn im Anschluss an den vorbstimmten Zeitpunkt der Brenner für eine vorbestimmte Zeitspanne bei stabilen Betriebsbedingungen betrieben worden ist, die Kalibrierung durchgeführt wird, und die neue stabile Kalibrierung die vorhergehende stabile Kalibrierung ersetzt. Während der Zeitspanne wird sofort auf den gewünschten Kalibrierpunkt geregelt, und nicht wie beim Stand der Technik, auf Basis der alten stabilen Kalibrierung. Tritt der Fall ein, dass der Brenner im Anschluss an den vorbestimmten Zeitpunkt nicht für die vorbestimmte Zeitspanne bei stabilen Betriebsbedingungen betrieben werden kann, so wird eine vorläufige Kalibrierung auf Grundlage der zuletzt vorliegenden Betriebsbedingungen durchgeführt. Diese vorläufige Kalibrierung ersetzt dann die vorhergehende sabile Kalibirerung.
