Definitions
- the invention relates to an internal combustion engine for a Motor vehicle with a combustion chamber, the an inlet channel to Supply of fuel gas, an outlet channel for the removal of Combustion products and a fuel supply unit associated with the supply of liquid fuel.
- the object of the invention is to provide an internal combustion engine for a Motor vehicle with reduced hydrocarbon emissions, in particular the lowest possible cold start emissions provide.
- the internal combustion engine according to the invention is characterized by a disposed in the outlet channel adsorption and / or Absorption element for intermediate storage of unburned or partially combusted fuel.
- adsorption and / or Absorption element takes on liquid or gaseous Fuel on, which is mainly in the first seconds of High and warm running of an internal combustion engine unburned or partially burned out of the combustion chamber is ejected.
- Fuel is at the adsorption and / or absorption element stored or stored. Due to the rapid heating of the Outlet channels is a desorption of fuel at Temperatures that are a reliable afterburning of the desorbed fuel in the exhaust tract ensure.
- Particularly preferable is the proposed arrangement in Connection with a downstream oxidation and / or Reduction catalyst.
- a Surface designed with a high roughness is at the outlet channel a Surface designed with a high roughness.
- a zone with reduced flow velocity in particular a gap and / or a Totwasser.
- a zone serves with its (enlarged) surface as Adsorption element, in particular for liquid droplets.
- Adsorption element in particular for liquid droplets.
- the exhaust gas flow swirled is the exhaust gas flow swirled.
- adsorption and / or Absorbent layer arranged to receive fuel is in the outlet channel, preferably in the intermediate space an adsorption and / or Absorbent layer arranged to receive fuel is.
- the adsorption and / or absorption layer is made of a suitable for adsorption and / or absorption of Fuel droplets or molecules serving material produced.
- Flow guiding elements and / or turbulence promoters are on the insert element Flow guiding elements and / or turbulence promoters arranged.
- Such elements can Totwasser Thee or Create areas with strong turbulent flow.
- Flow guiding elements and / or turbulence promoters can be the exhaust gas flow from the combustion chamber at least partially divert into a Totwasser.
- a Flow guide exhaust gas behind the insert element be redirected.
- An internal combustion engine 1 according to the invention for a motor vehicle has a cylinder head 1a, which together with a movable piston for limiting a preferably cylindrical combustion chamber 2 in an engine block of the internal combustion engine serves.
- Fuel is preferably at ambient conditions liquid hydrocarbons, e.g. Gasoline or diesel fuel used.
- FIG. 1 shows a section through the cylinder head 1a. in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the Outlet duct 3 runs.
- FIG. 1 shows a section through the cylinder head 1a. in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the Outlet duct 3 runs.
- an adsorption and / or Absorbent element is a particular adsorptive acting Surface 4 with a high roughness, especially with a provided microscopic surface structure.
- Such Surface can be adjusted by means of a corresponding coarse-grained G mankerns when casting the cylinder head 1a very easy and without additional effort compared to previous production methods produce.
- the roughness, the location and the extension of the surface 4 to the size and the icorungs of at a cold start operation of the internal combustion engine from the combustion chamber ejected fuel droplets customized.
- an adsorption and / or Absorption element is a gap, a corrugation or a provided similar macroscopic surface structure, the in principle, how the surface 4 with high roughness acts.
- an insert element 6 in the Outlet channel 3 is inserted.
- the insert element 6 is a dimensionally stable, sleeve adapted to the contour of the outlet channel 3 designed, preferably over its entire surface having distributed perforations 6a.
- Between insert element 6 and the cast exhaust passage 3 in the cylinder head 1a is a Intermediate space 7 formed over the perforations 6a in Connection is made with the inner region 10 of the insert element.
- the insert element 6 as insulation or shield for the cooled space 7 acts.
- the interspace 7 thus arise with areas reduced flow velocity and possibly also dead water areas, in which liquid fuel, which from the Exhaust gas flow, preferably via the perforations 6a in reaches the gap, be deposited and unvaporized can persist.
- Flow guide elements 9 are preferably for deflecting the Exhaust gas flow from the inner region 10 into the intermediate space 7 provided, therefore cooperate the flow guide 9 preferably with perforations 6a.
- You can, for example be designed hat-shaped (see Fig. 2). Complementary or Alternatively, on an insert element 6 on the for Interior 10 side facing out and / or on the Kurs Gap 7 side facing turbulence promoters or Strömungsumsch with pronounced Totwasser is proposed on the insert element 6 on the interior 10 aligned side flow guide 9 provide.
- Flow guide elements 9 are preferably for deflecting the Exhaust gas flow from the inner region 10 into the intermediate space 7 provided, therefore cooperate the flow guide 9 preferably with perforations 6a.
- Adsorption and / or absorption element is an insert. 8 from a fuel adsorbing or absorbing Material provided.
- adsorption and Absorption properties are used.
- Ceramics, zeolites, activated carbon and plastic or Metal foams are used.
- Such deposits are preferably dimensionally stable and / or as a filling for a Gap 7 is formed.
- the proposed measures can be partially or unburned from a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine ejected fuel components directly in or on Cylinder head bind, recondens, adsorb and / or even absorb. Although there may be only brief Storage times, however, these can be designed longer than to heat the exhaust duct at this point required time. Thus, fuel emissions - especially when cold starting the engine in Cylinder head or in its vicinity at least temporarily bound and subsequently released at a temperature suitable for complete and rapid (after) combustion of the fuel is sufficient. Thus, an internal combustion engine with with regard to fuel or hydrocarbon emissions provided significantly improved cold start behavior.
