Definitions
- the present innovation relates to sections, preferably metallic, appropriately shaped in order to make, by assembling them with panels of various kinds and in different ways, fittings of various kinds.
- Fittings made in various ways, for example by connecting together elements made of metal, plastic, wood and/or the like are well known to everybody.
- fittings such as not just kitchens, cupboards, shelving, etc., but also other fittings for uses such as fittings for bathrooms, halls, etc.
- fittings for bathrooms, halls, etc. are constructed in ways and by means that are known per se.
- some fittings are produced using wood varieties or wood substitutes of various kinds which are covered, painted, etc., or may be made out of sheet metal variously shaped and assembled by spot welding or other joining means such as screws and/or equivalent means, or by slotting together modular elements which assemble together.
- Figure 1 is a cross section through a section 1 consisting fundamentally of a portion having a hollow rectangular cross section, the long side 11 of which is to be considered as extending vertically in use, while its short side 12 is to be considered as extending horizontally.
- One of the long sides 11 will be continued both above and below by a short extension.
- the short extension 111 will be continued at its end by a suitable extension 111a perpendicular to the extension 111.
- another short extension 111b will lead off at right angles to the extension 111a and parallel to the short extension 111 so that the extension 111b extends in the opposite direction to the abovementioned short extension 111, thus forming a C-shaped element.
- This C-shaped element is formed partly by the long side 11, by the short extension 111, by the suitable extension 111a and by the subsequent short extension 111b which ends, and thus closes the said C-shaped element, at its (111b) end with a small circularly rounded projection 111c.
- a short section 111' runs out at right angles to the said long side 11. At right angles to this short extension 111' and in the same direction as the short extension 111b, there will extend another short extension 111'a.
- a short portion 111" which will be connected at right angles to another extension 111"a of suitable dimensions which, being at right angles to the short portion 111", will be parallel to the short side 12 of the rectangular-sectioned element consisting of the sides 11 and 12.
- This suitable extension 111"a will extend for a length equal to the short side 12 in order to form with this side 12 a C-shaped element beneath the said short side 12.
- the inside of the rectangular element formed by the sides 11 and 12 will contain, formed at a suitable distance from each other, on the inside of the side 11 opposite that from which the parts 111, 111' and 111" extend, two small rectangular extensions 11a.
- two C-shaped elements 11c of basically circular outline are formed in the respective internal angles formed by the two sides 12 which meet the said side 11. These are to take suitable screws.
- this cross section through the section 2 consists basically of a hollow rectangular element identical in every respect, including its dimensions, to that of the section 1, i.e. it consists of two long sides 21 and two short sides 22. From one of the long sides 21, an extension 211 extends for a suitable length parallel to this long side 21 and at right angles to the short side 22.
- a short extension 212 exactly similar to the extension 211 leads away, but in the opposite direction, while a suitable extension 222 projects, from the short extension 212, at right angles to the latter (212) and parallel to the side 22 in order to form with the said short side 22 a C-shaped element beneath this short side 22 and with the same dimensions as the latter (22).
- a suitable extension 222 projects, from the short extension 212, at right angles to the latter (212) and parallel to the side 22 in order to form with the said short side 22 a C-shaped element beneath this short side 22 and with the same dimensions as the latter (22).
- Inside the rectangular cross section formed by the sides 21 and 22 will be two small rectangular projections 21a, exactly identical to the two small rectangular extensions 11a, a suitable distance apart, but repeating the measurements of the previous extensions 11a.
- Figure 3 is a cross section through a section 3 consisting as before of a hollow rectangular section exactly identical to those described above and illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, i.e. consisting of two long sides 31 and two short sides 32 with dimensions exactly the same as the sides 11, 12 of the section 1 based on a hollow rectangle, and as the sides 21, 22 of the section 2 based on a hollow rectangle.
- one of the long sides 31 is continued, parallel to itself and at right angles to the side 32, for a suitable length, by an extension 311, and the same thing happens at the opposite side, i.e. a short extension 312 exactly identical to the extension 311 leads off in the opposite direction to 311.
- this extension (312) and parallel to the side 32 there extends from the short extension 312 a suitable extension 322 of the same size as the short side 32, in order to form therewith a C-shaped element.
- a suitable extension 322 of the same size as the short side 32 in order to form therewith a C-shaped element.
- this short extension 313 In about the middle of the long side 31 of the base rectangle of the part 3, and from the same side as that from which the various extensions 311, 312 and 322 lead off, there runs a separate extension 313 perpendicular to the said long side 31.
- another short extension 314 leads off from the middle thereof, in the same direction as the short extension 311, and will preferably extend at least as far as level with the short side 32, forming a C-shaped element.
- another suitable short extension 315 will extend, in the same direction as the short extension 312 and at right angles to the extension 313.
- a short extension 323 will extend, at right angles to the latter and with the same direction as the side 32.
- another extension 316 leads away in the opposite direction to the extension 315, thus forming with the extensions 323 and 315 a "C" with one of its sides, the extension 315, slightly longer than the side 316 facing it 315.
- a short extension 323' which will be parallel to the extension 323 and perpendicular to the extension 315, will also lead away from the short extension 315, in the opposite direction to the extension 323.
- extrusions for the sections having cross sections 1, 2 and 3 illustrated in Figures 1, 2 and 3 are first cut into suitable lengths 11s, 21s and 31s and their ends cut at opposing angles of 45°.
- the first will be housed in the upper cornice formed by the short extensions 311 of the length 31s and by the other short extensions 211 of the lengths 21s, while the second top panel Ps will insert into the C-shaped elements formed at the bottom of the lengths 11s and 21s.
- the C-shaped element will be made, as per the description of Figure 1 of its cross section (1) from the short extensions 111" and 111"a and with the short side 12, whereas for the length 21s the C-shaped element will be made as per the description of Figure 2 of its cross section (2) from the short extensions 212, 222 and with the short side 22.
- the resulting upper frame element can be fixed to the side panels P with screws V or suitable equivalent means such as dowels, etc.
- two pairs of lengths of section 21s will be used. Specifically, two lengths will have the same length as the length of section 11s while the other two will be the same length as the corresponding lengths of section 21s that fit on the sides of the piece of furniture as per the solution described for making the upper frame.
- the two pairs of lengths 21s when joined together they will form a rectangular frame structure having the same dimensions as the structure created from the lengths 11s, 21s and can be fixed to the panels P with screws V or equivalent means such as dowels, etc.
- the frame structure made from the two pairs of lengths of section 21s will have the function of housing panels Pr which may be opaque or transparent and will form the surfaces of the resulting shelves.
- the panelling Pr can be simply rested inside the cornice formed by the short extensions 211, while its lower part will be securely housed in the C-shaped cavities formed by the lower short side 22 of the basic hollow rectangular element of the section 2, and by the short extension 212 and by the corresponding extension 222 parallel to the short side 22.
- the inside of this frame structure can also contain light sources.
- Closing the base of the piece of furniture of Figure 4 will be a frame structure in which will be used a length of section 31s situated at the back of the piece of furniture (on the same side as the length 11s), two equal lengths 21s to form the sides of the lower frame running along the flanks of the piece of furniture and fixed to it by means of screws V and a third length of section 21s measuring the same as the length of section 31s to close the rectangle forming this bottom frame element.
- the frame structure formed by the lengths of section 31s, by the two lengths of section 21s which are the same as each other and equal in size and to the side panel P and by a length of section 21s the same size as 31s, will be fixed to the side panels P with suitable screws V or equivalent means such as dowels, etc.
- a first lower panel Pi will be rested on top of the resulting frame structure, inside the cornice formed by the short projecting extensions 211 and 311, while a second, lower panel Pi will be housed firmly inside the C-shaped elements formed respectively in the length of section 31s, by its (31s) short side, by the short extension 312, at right angles to which (312) and parallel to the side 32, that is in the same direction as the latter, a suitable extension 322 will lead away from the short extension 312.
- a light source can be installed inside this frame structure, as in the previous cases.
- the side panel P of the resulting piece of furniture will be provided with a groove S known per se, which is in common use for housing a rear panel Pp, while the other housing seats (top and bottom) of the rear panel Pp will both be formed in the lengths of section 1 and 3.
- the C-shaped cavities will consist variously, as regards the length 11s, (referring to the cross section shown in Figure 1) of part of the long side 11 of the basic hollow rectangular element of the element 1, of the same side which will be continued by the short extension 111, extends at right angles from near the middle of the long side 11 of the abovementioned basic rectangle of the element 1, an element 111', of the same side from which extend and lead away the various extensions 111, 111a, 111b and 111c and at right angles to the abovementioned short extension 111' and in the same direction as the short extension 111b there will extend another suitable extension 111'a, thus forming the C-shaped cavity in which the rear panel Pp will be housed at the top.
- the C-shaped cavity for housing the rear panel Pp will be formed in the length of section 31s.
- the C-shaped cavity formed in the length 11s but in the opposite direction, and made up of the long side 31 and the extensions 313 and 314.
- the length of section 31s forming the bottom of the piece of furniture treated in the foregoing description can receive, with reference to Figures 5, 5a and 5b, in the C-shaped cavity formed by the previously described extensions 313, 315, 323 and 316, an element that may be described as a length of section 31's or short extensions thereof 31s at suitable regular intervals.
- This section length element 31's will form a hook element that fits into the C-shaped cavity of the length element 31s described above. It may also be made in different ways than the preferred way described thus far, in other words not by extrusion but for example by bending pieces of sheet metal of suitable dimensions.
- this hook element formed of a length of section 31's will consist of a part 311', from one end of which, at right angles to this (311'), there will extend an extension 312' compatible with passing through the space formed by the extensions 316 and 313 less the dimension of the extension 323 of the length of section 31s. From the said extension 312' there will extend at right angles to it and towards the element 311' another 322' to form another C-shaped element for hooking into the C of the abovementioned length element 31s.
- all the dimensions of the C-shaped element of the length element 31s that connect with the C-shaped element of the length 31's will be compatible with each other in order to give a secure join, but at the same time detachable.
- this section length element 31' will include in the middle of its extension 311', in the same direction as the short extension 312, another short extension 312' which at its end, as in the case of the abovementioned element 321', will have, at right angles to it, an extension 322" which will have the same direction as the element 322" and lengths extending as far as the terminal part of the extension 311'.
- the three elements 311', 321" and 322" will form a C-shaped cavity in which panels Pv of various kinds can be housed vertically.
- the said panels Pv will be fixed in ways and by means known per se such as for example with screws Vv or equivalent means.
- the panels Pv will therefore be able to be used for the application of brackets or hook systems to support objects in general and a wide variety of uses including particular solutions for attractive fittings.
- dowels S can be used to fix the resulting frame 26 to the side panels forming the flanks of the piece of furniture in question, but equivalent traditional and known means such as fixing screws V, etc., can nonetheless also be used.
- FIGS 7, 8 and 9 show the applications of the various types of frame elements made with lengths of section 11s, 21s and 31s illustrated in the cross sections of Figures 1, 2 and 3.
- Figure 7 in particular will illustrate a version applied to kitchen furniture in which the upper parts of the hanging wall units can be made from a length of section 11s which engages with suitable known support means and connected to corresponding lengths of sections 21s for their lateral and frontal closure in order to form the upper frame structure, which will then be closed by suitable opaque or transparent panels.
- an element 31's will hook as described earlier onto the back of the length of section 31s, and to this element 31's it is possible to connect known panels Pv on which hook means can be attached for kitchen utensils or shelves made in a manner known per se for standing all the necessary utensils and/or kitchenware.
- This version can also be fitted in living rooms or other environments to take brackets of various kinds, so offering not only practical fittings but also striking stylistic and aesthetic effects.
- Figure 9 illustrates the application of frame elements T9 likewise produced in the ways described above in order to make hanging wall units for living rooms, bookshelves, glass cabinets, etc., with the possibility of producing quite respectable stylistic and utilitarian effects by introducing light sources into the said frames T9 which will be enclosed by transparent panels.
