Definitions
- the invention relates to an arrangement for treating a Paper or cardboard web with a path that runs by at least one wide nip that is between a counter pressure surface and a wraparound coat that is in Direction on the counter pressure surface is formed is, and a line application device performed is.
- the aim of treating a paper or cardboard web in a wide nip with subsequent line application is to improve the printability of the web.
- the treatment in the wide nip has the advantage that the web is smoothed frequently at high temperatures above the T G (glass transition temperature) in a relatively volume-saving manner and contour smoothing takes place, ie the micro-roughness is preferably improved.
- the micro roughness is usually determined using the so-called PPS method according to ISO 8791/4. It can now be observed that a print mottling occurs when printing webs treated in this way, especially in offset printing, ie the web does not accept the printing ink evenly, so that a very uneasy appearance results. It is believed that with paper or cardboard that has been smoothed in this way an uneven roughening of the surface occurs after coating and / or the penetration of the coating color is very uneven.
- the object of the invention is printability to improve the web.
- the second roller is preferably included as a hard roller a surface that is harder than the elastic surface is trained. So the second roller is significantly harder and less compliant than the first Roller. This enables the surface of the web smooth to the desired extent, i.e. the Breitnip takes over the job of smoothing in the micro range while the soft nip mainly reduces the macro roughness. You can then make a smoothing behind save the line application device, which is significant Has advantages. With such a smoothing would have to the web is passed through another nip, the in turn could lead to volume losses and in extreme cases could even damage the stroke.
- the first roller preferably has a cover with a Elastic modulus of up to 50,000 MPa, in particular maximum 10,000 MPa. So the reference is or Covering of the first, soft roller much more elastic as a steel surface.
- the second roller the acts as a counter roller, can then be elastic in press in the cover.
- the first roller preferably has a hardness their surface of a maximum of 100 Sh (D). Such one Shore D hardness is sufficient to achieve the desired smoothing to effect. Crushing the fibers of the paper or cardboard web is avoided.
- a line load in the soft nip of a maximum of 60 N / mm, in particular a maximum of 30 N / mm.
- The is a comparatively small line load, however sufficient to achieve the desired smoothing before To effect coating device.
- a compressive stress of at most 3 N / mm 2 prevails in the wide nip.
- smoothing can be carried out with a relatively low compressive stress. The smoothing is still sufficient because it can be done over a relatively long time.
- the length of the wide nip in the web running direction is preferably between 40 and 250 mm.
- the wide nip preferably has a heating device which heats the web to at least 100 ° C. The heating will smoothen the wide nip improved. At the same time, the moisture is evened out.
- the jacket and the soft roller are preferred arranged on the same side of the web path. So both the coat and the soft roller work on the same side of the paper or cardboard web that is guided along the path of the web. So achieved one unilateral smoothing of the web because the other Side on the usually smoother back pressure surface and lies against the smoother side roller. In this case, only this other side is smoothed. In many However, this is sufficient in areas, for example at Cardboard box, which is only on one side anyway to be printed.
- the second roller is the counter pressure surface forms. In other words, lies both the coat of the broad nip as well as the soft roller that forms the soft nip on the same roller.
- the paper or cardboard web must then pass between them the wide nip and going through the soft nip not be lifted off the hard, smooth roller. This improves the smoothness on the smooth Roller adjacent surface.
- the counter pressure surface and the second roller on arranged on different sides of the web path are.
- a bilateral is achieved Smoothness because each side of the web is once hard and smooth surface lies on one side in the wide nip on the counter pressure surface and the other side in the soft nip on the second roller.
- the side of the web path, on which there is greater micro roughness is in contact with the counter pressure surface in the wide nip.
- the Microroughness which is determined, for example, according to PPS can be reduced particularly well in the wide nip.
- the broad nip is therefore left on the side of the paper or Cardboard web act in which the micro roughness on greatest is. This reduces two-sidedness and both sides of the web are even with Coating color and are accordingly Passing through the coating device is well printable.
- the first figure 1 shows an arrangement 1 for treating a paper or cardboard web 2 (hereinafter also briefly as Referred to as "train").
- the web 2 runs through a web path, which is guided by a wide nip 3.
- the Breitnip is formed by a roller 4 with a hard, smooth surface 5 and a surrounding jacket 6, under the action of a support shoe arrangement 7 is pressed against the roller 4.
- the support shoe arrangement 7 has a pressure surface 8 for this purpose, which in not shown, but known per se with a device for reducing the friction between Jacket 6 and support shoe assembly 7 is provided.
- the roller 4 is designed as a heated roller. she has for this purpose a series of heating channels 9, which are formed by axially parallel bores which in Area of the surface 5 of the roller 4 are arranged. Through the heating channels 9, a heat transfer fluid, for example Steam, or hot oil, to be directed to heat the roller 4.
- a heat transfer fluid for example Steam, or hot oil
- the Breitnip 3 can of course also be heated in other ways be, for example, by a heater that acts on the surface of the roller 4 from the outside or a Heating that acts through the jacket 6.
- the wide nip has a length in the range of 40 to 250 mm in the running direction of the web 2, which is represented by an arrow 10. In the wide nip there are relatively small compressive stresses in the range of maximum 3 N / mm 2 .
- the wide nip 3 is followed by a soft calender 11 with a hard roller 12 and a soft roller 13, the one elastic covering 14 from a plastic carries.
- the modulus of elasticity of the covering 14 is at a maximum 50,000 MPa, preferably at a maximum of 10,000 MPa.
- the soft roller 13 has a hardness on its surface maximum 100 Shore D.
- a soft nip 15 is formed through which the web 2 after passing through the wide nip 3 is performed.
- the soft nip 15 has a maximum line load 60 N / mm, in particular a maximum of 30 N / mm.
- a line application device 16 In the running direction 10 behind the soft calender 11 with the soft nip 15 is a line application device 16 arranged, one arranged between two rollers 17, 18 Order nip 19 has. Shown schematically are order devices 20, 21 with which Coating paint applied to the surface of the rollers 17, 18 becomes. If the web 2 the order nip 19 passes through, then the coating color is below a certain Pressure applied to the surface of the web 2. Of course it is possible to apply the coating color even to be applied on one side of the web if one wishes a web that is only coated on one side, for example a one-sided coated sheet for folding boxboard.
- Line application device 16 instead of the one shown Line application device 16 also another line application device use.
- the web 2 lies on one side, in the present case the top, both in the wide nip 3 as well as in the soft nip 15 on a smooth, hard Surface, namely the surface 5 of the roller 4th or the surface of the roller 12. Accordingly the web 2 is only smoothed on one side, namely on hers Top.
- Fig. 2 now shows the possibility of the web 2 on both sides to smooth out.
- the same parts as in Fig. 1 are with the provided with the same reference numerals.
- the arrangement of the rollers in the soft calender has changed 11.
- the hard roller 12 on the Side of the web 2, which in the Breitnip 3 with the jacket 6 has been treated while the soft roller 13 is on the side of the web 2, which is in the Breitnip 3 on the Surface 5 of the roller 4 has applied.
- the goodness of im Breitnip 3 rest on the surface 5 of the roller 4
- the surface does not expand in the soft calender 11 improved.
- the surface of the bottom in Soft calender 11 improved. This can be of particular interest if the bottom is also deleted should. Even if it doesn't, it can be advantageous to smooth even the bottom to prevent the smooth top from being rolled up is roughened again by a too rough underside.
- Fig. 1 the wide nip 3 and the soft nip were 15 in separate units arranged.
- Fig. 3 now shows one Design in which only one roller 4, 12 with smooth surface 5 for both the training of Breitnips 3 as well as for the training of the soft Nips 15 is used. Same parts are here with the provided with the same reference numerals.
- the advantage of an arrangement with a soft nip 15 between the Breitnip 3 and the line application device 16 is that the measured according to Bendtsen Macro roughness compared to smoothing only with the Breitnip 3 is significantly improved.
- the measured according to PPS Microroughness lies in smoothing with soft nip 15 between the values of post-smoothing with hard nip and without smoothing.
- the one in smoothing volume loss is greater with smoothing than without, but again with smoothing with Softnip less than with post-smoothing in the hard nip.
- the volume loss can be further reduced by using Post-smoothing further reduces the line load in the Breitnip 3.
- the Breitnip 3 is in the present case with a roller 4 shown as a counter pressure element. It is, of course, also possible the back pressure element as a band train, which is supported by a pressure shoe. In this case too, it is possible to use both the jacket 6 the shoe roller and the soft roller 13 on the counter-pressure element to be concerned.
- the jacket 6 is relatively solid in the present case trained coat shown, the manner of a Roller rotates. Again, it is possible to use the coat 6 to be replaced by a circulating belt.
