ausreichende quantitative Informationen über TMC mit auszustrahlen, um ein umfassendes Bild
über eine aktuelle Verkehrslage zu liefern. Der Nachteil von RDS/TMC besteht in der
unzureichenden Kodierbarkeit von Orten, da aus Gründen der Datenkonsistenz eine einheitliche
Tabelle für ALLE möglichen Knotenpunkte in einem Straßennetz zentral verwaltet werden
muss.
Ein anderes Verfahren ist TPEG/RTM, mit dem grundsätzlich Meldungen für
Verkehrsmanagement abgesetzt werden können. Dieses Verfahren ist jedoch nicht geeignet, um

eingesetzt werden, die eine Kodierung ohne speziell kodiertes Vorabwissen in der
Zielkarte erfordern. Weiterhin kann die Erweiterungsmeldung alle weiteren Informationen der
Basismeldung oder auch darüber hinaus präzisieren.
Die Erweiterungsmeldung sollte sich darüber hinaus auf die Basismeldung beziehen, um hier
eine Eindeutigkeit herstellen zu können. Zusätzlich ist es vorteilhaft, wenn die
Erweiterungsmeldung ein eindeutiges Identifikationsmerkmal wie beispielsweise eine
Identifikationsnummer umfasst.
Als weitere vorteilhafte Ausgestaltung sollte die Erweiterungsmeldung durch flexible Container
erweiterbar sein.
