  • Such a vehicle roof consisting of three individual, rigid roof shells which are arranged one behind the other in the closed position of the roof in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, is known from the document EP 0 835 779 AI.
  • the roof shells are connected to one another or to the vehicle body via roof kinematics and can be adjusted between the closed position and a storage position when the kinematics are actuated, in which the roof shells are stored in a rear storage space.

  • the invention is based on the problem of reducing the packing volume of a multi-part hardtop vehicle roof in the storage position.
  • At least one of the roof shells of the hard top is constructed in three parts with a central and two lateral roof sections, the central roof section being articulated to the two adjacent lateral roof sections and being pivotable relative to these.
  • This embodiment opens up the possibility of pivoting the central roof section of the roof shell relative to the lateral roof sections in the storage position of the vehicle roof, as a result of which the central roof section is displaced approximately parallel to its original position.
