Description

The present invention relates to a device for packaging a product, in particular a solid cosmetic product, in the form of a sample.

It is common to distribute samples of cosmetic product in magazines, for example by associating them with an advertising page. To condition the cosmetic products in the form of a sample, particular use is made of tubes or bottles of reduced dimensions. However, such packaging can hardly be distributed in magazines for advertising purposes because of their size. Other packages, such as sachets which contain liquid or creamy products or wipes impregnated with liquid products can more easily be inserted into magazines. Nevertheless, the bags can hardly contain solid products, such as compacted powders.

US 2,061,139 describe a package for a sample of solid or pasty cosmetic product intended to allow the distribution of the sample for advertising purposes by insertion in a publication. The package consists of a plate which has a central cavity into which is inserted a cup which contains the product sample. The cup is fixed by an adhesive sheet glued to one side of the plate. A lid is affixed to the other face of the plate to seal the cavity containing the cup. Such packaging, even if it is in the form of a plate, is relatively thick because of the presence of the cup.

Patent application FR 2 821 061 and US Pat. No. 5,161,688 describe a make-up sample that frees itself from the cup, the product being directly inserted into the cavity. The cavity is closed on both sides by an adhesive film.

None of these devices has a lid. However, it may be interesting to make a sample imitating a makeup case, that is to say that has a receptacle for the product and a lid.

Patent application WO88 / 07825 describes this type of packaging. In particular, the packaging consists of two bank card type plates, interconnected by two adhesive labels hinge so that when the two plates are superimposed, the hinge labels are located on the inner faces. A first plate is crossed by two holes which open on each face of the plate and which contain a cosmetic product. An adhesive film covers the outer face of the plate so as to close an opening of the holes thus forming the bottom of the housing of the product. Such packaging with two hinge labels is unattractive. In addition, the packaging comprises a relatively large number of constituent elements while it is preferable for the sample type of packaging to limit the number in order to minimize the cost of manufacture.

Also, is it an object of the invention to provide a device for packaging a product, in particular a cosmetic product, which does not have the drawbacks of the prior art.

It is particularly an object of the invention to provide a device that is compact while approaching a makeup case for example.

It is also another object of the invention to provide such a device which is simple to produce and low cost.

It is also an object of the invention to provide such a device in which the product has a visible surface when opening the device which is acceptable from an aesthetic point of view, in particular having a regular surface.

It is yet another object of the invention to provide a method for packaging a product that is simple and inexpensive.

  • un support de forme généralement plane comportant deux faces, ledit support étant traversé par au moins une cavité débouchant sur au moins une face par une première ouverture, ladite cavité contenant le produit ;
  • un couvercle, de forme généralement plane, articulé sur le support ;
According to the invention, these objects can be achieved by providing a device for packaging a product, in particular a make-up product, comprising:
  • a generally flat support having two faces, said support being traversed by at least one cavity opening on at least one face by a first opening, said cavity containing the product;
  • a lid, generally flat in shape, articulated on the support;

The device can be characterized in that the support and the cover are articulated by means of an articulation formed by:
  • i) a mirror label bonded to one of the faces of the cover and to one of the faces of the support; and or
  • ii) an adhesive sheet attached to one side of the cover and on one of the faces of the support, the adhesive sheet closing a second opening of the cavity formed on the face of the support opposite to the face having the first opening.

The label forming the bottom of the housing or the mirror label also constitutes a hinge for the device which limits the number of constituent elements of the device and therefore the steps of producing the device. It is also easier to correctly position a single label than two small ones to achieve the hinge. An inexpensive packaging device is thus obtained. In addition, the label forming the bottom can also be used to decorate the outer face of the cover being for example pre-printed which is less expensive than printing a decoration directly on the cover.

The cover may be adapted to rest on the support so as to cover at least part of the face of the support on which opens the first opening.

According to a particular embodiment, the cover may be able to cover the entire face of the support so as to obtain a device that is as close as possible to a housing.

The adhesive sheet may be formed of one or more layers of a material selected from thermoplastic materials, including polyolefins or polyesters, and aluminum. In the case of multilayer structures, advantageously use an aluminum layer ensuring good preservation of the product.

The adhesive sheet may be covered with an impression, for example an inscription relative to the product, or a decorative pattern.

The mirror tag may be formed of one or more layers of a material selected from thermoplastic materials, including polyolefins or polyesters, and aluminum, and a mirror paint layer.

The device may further comprise a removable cap releasably sealing the first opening, said cap being removed prior to the first use in order to access the product. This protects the product at least before first use. The seal may be adhesively bonded to the first face of the support in such a manner that it can be peeled off and re-glued at least once. It may not have an adhesive function in an area intended to face the first opening. It may also have a gripping zone for gripping the lid in order to separate it, at least in part, from said support. The lid may be made of transparent material so as to allow the product to be seen. It is for example made of thermoplastic material, in particular polyester or polypropylene.

  • a) former une plaque de manière à délimiter le support solidaire du couvercle ;
  • b) former la cavité dans le support ;
  • c) former une rainure sur au moins une face de la plaque entre le support et le couvercle ;
  • d) obturer de manière amovible la première ouverture au moyen d'un opercule amovible à enlever préalablement à la première utilisation en vue d'accéder au produit ;
  • e) introduire le produit dans la cavité via la seconde ouverture ;
  • f) obturer la seconde ouverture en collant la feuille adhésive sur la seconde face du support ;
According to another aspect, the invention relates to a method for packaging a product, in particular a cosmetic product, in a device such as it has just been described when the hinge is formed by the adhesive sheet, the method comprising the following steps:
  • a) forming a plate so as to delimit the support integral with the lid;
  • b) forming the cavity in the support;
  • c) forming a groove on at least one face of the plate between the support and the cover;
  • d) removably closing the first opening by means of a removable cap to be removed prior to the first use in order to access the product;
  • e) introducing the product into the cavity via the second opening;
  • f) closing the second opening by gluing the adhesive sheet on the second side of the support;
  • g) fold the cover along the groove and glue the adhesive sheet onto the cover.

  • a') former une plaque de manière à délimiter le support solidaire du couvercle ;
  • b') former la cavité dans le support ;
  • c') former une rainure sur au moins une face de la plaque entre le support et le couvercle ;
  • d') obturer de manière amovible la première ouverture au moyen de l'opercule amovible à enlever préalablement à la première utilisation en vue d'accéder au produit ;
  • e') coller l'étiquette formant miroir en partie sur le couvercle et en partie sur le support ;
  • f) introduire le produit dans la cavité via la seconde ouverture ;
  • g') obturer la seconde ouverture en collant la feuille adhésive sur la seconde face du support ;
The invention also relates to a method for packaging a product, in particular a cosmetic product, in a device such as has just been described when the hinge is formed by the mirror label, the method comprising the following steps:
  • a ') forming a plate so as to delimit the support integral with the lid;
  • b ') forming the cavity in the support;
  • c ') forming a groove on at least one face of the plate between the support and the cover;
  • d) removably closing the first opening by means of the removable cap to be removed prior to the first use in order to access the product;
  • e ') sticking the mirror tag partly on the cover and partly on the support;
  • f) introducing the product into the cavity via the second opening;
  • g ') closing the second opening by gluing the adhesive sheet on the second side of the support;

Such methods make it possible to produce a device in which the surface of the product accessible to the user is that which corresponds to the bottom of the cavity during filling so that the visible surface is perfectly regular.

Steps a), b), c), a '), b') and c ') can be obtained by cutting, or alternatively by molding. These steps can be performed simultaneously or, in the case of cutting, be carried out successively.

The invention consists, apart from the arrangements set out above, in a certain number of other arrangements which will be explained below, with reference to nonlimiting exemplary embodiments, described with reference to the appended figures, among which:
  • Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a first embodiment of a packaging device according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 shows a sectional view of the device shown in Figure 1; FIGS. 3A to 3F schematically illustrate the various steps of the packaging method according to the invention;

  • Figure 5 shows a sectional view of the device shown in Figure 4;
  • FIGS. 6A to 6E schematically illustrate the various steps of a variant of the packaging method according to the invention.

Il est bien évident que le support et le couvercle peuvent présenter toute autre forme, ils peuvent par exemple être carré, rond, ovale, etc...The device according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 comprises a rectangular support 20, of bank card type format, which comprises in its thickness a cavity 21 designed to receive the product, as well as a cover 30 articulated on the support 20, which is also rectangular and bank card type format. It is obvious that the support and the cover may have any other shape, they may for example be square, round, oval, etc.

The support 20 has two flat and parallel faces 22 and 23 on each of which opens the cavity 21. The cavity 21 has two openings 210 and 211 respectively on each face 22 and 23 of the support. The support 20 has a small thickness of the order of a millimeter, for example between 0.5 and 2 mm. In a particular example, the support has a thickness of 0.8 mm. The cavity 21 has a circular section but it can also be of square, rectangular, oval, or any other shape. The cavity is designed to receive a small amount of product, for example 0.15 g.

A removable cap 40 is fixed on one of the faces of the support, the upper face 22, so as to close the opening 210 of the cavity, that by which the user can access the product. This is for example a glossy label of polyester type which is glued on the upper face of the support. Preferably, a transparent label will be chosen to allow the user to see the product in the package. The label is covered with a semi-permanent adhesive to hold it properly in contact with the face so as to close the opening while being easily removable from the face. Advantageously, an adhesive will be chosen to re-glue the label at least once on the support after a first opening. The removable cover has a gripping zone 41 located at the periphery of the label so as to form a tongue easily grasped by the user to remove the label of the support.

An adhesive film 50 is glued on the second face of the support, the lower face 23, so as to close the second opening 211 of the cavity 21. This adhesive film has a greater stickiness than the removable cap 40 because it is intended not to be removed from the support. It thus constitutes the bottom of the packaging. Opposite the adhesive side of the adhesive film 50, there can be provided an impression, in particular a decorative pattern, or an inscription relating to the product contained in the cavity.

The cover 30 also has two flat faces 31 and 32 parallel, a first face 31 being intended to rest on the face 22 of the support. The cover 30 also has a small thickness, of the order of about 0.8 mm for example. The face 31 may be covered with a mirror label 70.

The cover 30 is hinged to the support 20 by means of the adhesive film 50 which partly covers the face 32 of the cover on which it is glued so that it constitutes a hinge between the support 20 and the cover 30. The film 50 is extends over substantially the entire width of the support and the cover so as to properly hold them together. This further allows the cover and support to have a relative pivotal movement about an axis parallel to the edge of the support and the cover, without deviating from this axis.

On a représenté sur les figures 3A à 3F les différentes étapes pour réaliser le dispositif de conditionnement qui vient d'être décrit.FIGS. 3A to 3F show the various steps for producing the conditioning device which has just been described.

Une rainure 60 est également réalisée simultanément sur la plaque entre le support 20 et le couvercle 30.Firstly, a plate made of a thermoplastic material, for example a polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a polypropylene or a polyethylene terephthalate (PET), is produced by cutting, the plate being intended to form the support 20 and the lid 30. The support 20 and the cover 30 are then formed in one piece as shown in FIG. The cavity 21 is formed simultaneously by cutting. A groove 60 is also made simultaneously on the plate between the support 20 and the cover 30.

Instead of making the plate as shown in Figure 3A by cutting, it can alternatively be obtained by molding a thermoplastic material.

The first opening 210 is then removably closed by means of the removable cap 40 which is adhered to the face 22 of the support 20 and the mirror label 70 is glued to the face 32 of the cover as shown. in Figure 3B.

The cosmetic product 10 is then introduced in powder form, through the second opening 211, into the cavity 21 closed in the lower part by operculum 40 (FIG. 3C). The introduced powder is then compacted to form a product pellet which is then properly maintained in the package. The amount of product introduced is preferably just sufficient to fill the cavity. When too much is introduced, excess product is removed by suction after compaction. According to one variant, a semi-liquid or viscous product may also be cast in the cavity.

The second opening 211 is closed by the adhesive film 50 (FIG. 3D) by pressing it on the underside 23 of the support with the aid of a pressure roller to evacuate the air and adhere the film to the product. Thus, the adhesive film 50 forms the bottom of the packaging and participates in holding the pellet in the cavity.

At the time of sticking the adhesive film 50 on the face 31 of the lid, the plate is folded along the groove 60 (FIG. 3E) so as to separate the support 20 and the lid 30 which are immediately resealed by the adhesive film 50 ( Figure 3F).

This produces a packaging such as that shown in Figures 1 and 2 which is in the form of a housing. To access the product, the user raises the lid 30 of the support 20 and removes the lid 40 which was fixed before filling. The user then has access to the surface of the product which corresponded to the bottom of the cavity during filling so that the visible surface is perfectly regular.

Cela permet en outre au couvercle et au support d'avoir un mouvement relatif de pivotement autour d'un axe parallèle au bord du support et du couvercle, sans dévier de cet axe.FIGS. 4 and 5 show a second embodiment of a packaging device according to the invention which differs from the first in that the lid 30 is articulated to the support 20 by means of the mirror adhesive label 70 and not in the adhesive film 50. According to this embodiment, the mirror label 70 partially covers the face 22 of the support on which it is glued so that it constitutes a hinge between the support 20 and the cover 30. L mirror label 70 extends over a sufficient width of the support and the cover to properly hold them integral with each other. This further allows the lid and the support to have a movement relative pivoting about an axis parallel to the edge of the support and the cover, without deviating from this axis.

On a représenté sur les figures 6A à 6E les différentes étapes pour réaliser le dispositif de conditionnement qui vient d'être décrit.FIGS. 6A to 6E show the various steps for producing the packaging device which has just been described.

Instead of making the plate as shown in Figure 6A by cutting, it can alternatively be obtained by molding a thermoplastic material.

The first opening 210 is then removably closed by means of the removable cap 40, which is glued to the face 22 of the support 20, and the mirror label 70 is glued to the face 31 of the cover and partly to the the face 22 of the support 20, as shown in Figure 6B.

The cosmetic product 10 is then introduced in powder form, through the second opening 211 into the cavity 21 closed in the lower part by the cap 40 (FIG. 6C).

6D) by pressing it on the underside 23 of the support with the aid of a pressure roller to evacuate the air and adhere the film to the product. Thus, the adhesive film 50 forms the bottom of the packaging and participates in holding the pellet in the cavity.

On plie ensuite la plaque le long de la rainure 60 (figure 6E) de manière à séparer le support 20 et le couvercle 30 qui restent toutefois solidaires par l'étiquette formant miroir 70.The plate is then folded along the groove 60 (FIG. 6E) so as to separate the support 20 and the cover 30, which remain, however, integral with the mirror label 70.

This produces a packaging such as that shown in Figure 4 which is in the form of a housing. To access the product, the user raises the lid 30 of the support 20 and removes the lid 40 which was fixed before filling. The user then has access to the surface of the product which corresponded to the bottom of the cavity during filling so that the visible surface is perfectly regular. She can also look in the mirror to help make up.

In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to preferred embodiments of the invention. It is obvious that variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
