Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft otische Kopplungsanordnungen mit mindestens einem optischen Stecker (1), der mindestens ein optisches Faserendstück (14) aufweist, einem Kopplungspartner (3), insbesondere einem opto-elektronischen Transceiver, der eine Steckerbucht (32) zur Aufnahme des mindestens einen optischen Steckers aufweist, und einem Schirmblech oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7) des Kopplungspartners (3), wobei das Schirmblech oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7) mit einer metallischen Struktur leitend verbindbar ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist in einer Erfindungsvariante vorgesehen, daß der optische Stecker zumindest teilweise Komponenten (11, 12, 13) aufweist, die aus einem elektromagnetische Wellen absorbierenden Material bestehen. In einer weiteren Erfindungsvariante ist vorgesehen, daß der optische Stecker (1) zumindest teilweise Komponenten (11', 12', 13') aufweist, die metallisiert sind oder aus einem leitfähigen Material bestehen, sowie Kontaktmittel, über die die metallisierten oder aus einem leitfähigen Material bestehenden Komponenten (11', 12', 13') mit dem Schirmblech oder leitenden Gehäuse (7) des Kopplungspartners (3) elektrisch leitend verbindbar sind.

Beschreibung
Bezeichnung der Erfindung: Optische Kopplungsanordnungen und optische Stecker.
Die Erfindung betrifft zwei optische Kopplungsanordnungen gemäß dem Oberbegriff der Ansprüche 1 und 7 und zwei optische Stecker gemäß dem Oberbegriff der Ansprüche 13 und 15.
Es ist bekannt, opto-elektronische Transceiver für die optische Datenübertragung auf einer Leiterplatte anzuordnen. Insbesondere sind steckbare, sogenannte Small-Form-Factor- Pluggable (SFP) -Transceiver kleiner Bauart bekannt, die in einem Gehäuse auf einer Leiterplatte angeordnet sind. Andere Transceiver sind fest in einem metallischen oder metallisierten Gehäuse ausgebildet. Die Transceiver weisen in an sich bekannter Weise opto-elektronische Wandler wie einen Fabric Perot Laser oder VCSEL-Laser und eine Fotodiode auf. Eine Ein- bzw. Auskopplung von infrarotem Licht zwischen einem Transceiver und einem optischen Netzwerk erfolgt über eine Steckeraufnahme oder allgemeiner einen optischen Port, in den ein optischer Stecker einsteckbar ist.
Dabei ist es üblich, die Leiterplatte mit dem opto- elektronischen Transceiver in einem metallischen Gehäuse, etwa dem Gehäuse eines Großrechner oder Servers anzuordnen. Das Gehäuse dient unter anderem der Abschirmung elektromagnetischer Störstrahlung, die insbesondere bei hohen Taktraten im Gigahertz-Bereich entsteht. Es besteht jedoch das Problem, das der optische Port mit dem eingesteckten optischen Stecker oder zumindest ein mit dem optischen Stecker verbundenes Kabel aus dem Gehäuse herausgeführt werden müssen. Über die dabei entstehende Diskontinuität bzw. Öffnung in der Gehäusewand (backplane) wird elektromagnetische Störstrahlung aus dem Inneren des Gehäuses nach außen abgestrahlt. Das Problem nimmt mit ansteigenden Taktraten der verwendeten Transceiver zu. Das Problem besteht auch nach Einstecken des optischen Steckers in die Steckerbucht des Transceivers . So kommt es zu elektromagnetischen Überkopplungen zwischen leitenden Teilen des Transceivers und leitenden Teilen des optischen Steckers, die gegenüber dem Gehäuse potentialverschieden sind. Auch bei Einsatz von optischen Steckern, die ausschließlich aus Kunststoff bestehen, kommt es zu Überkopplungen, da ein Kunststoffstecker bei hohen Datenraten und die damit verbundenen hohen Frequenzanteile im GHz-Bereich, insbesondere ab 5 GHz als eine Art dielektrische Antenne wirkt. Dies bedeutet, daß nicht einmal die Beseitigung von Metallanteilen am optischen Stecker einen wirksamen Schutz vor parasitären EMI-Emissionen bzw. elekromagnetischer Störstrahlung bietet.
Dies stellt auch bei anderen Anwendungen und anders aufgebauten Transceivern ein Problem dar, bei denen optische Stecker mit einem Kopplungspartner gekoppelt werden.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, optische Kopplungsanordnungen und optische Stecker zur Verfügung zu stellen, mit denen elektromagnetische Störemissionen auch bei hohen Frequenzen wirkungsvoll reduziert werden können.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch eine optische Kopplungsanordnung mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1, eine optische Kopplungsanordnung mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 7, einen optischen Stecker mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 13 und einen optischen Stecker mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 15 gelöst. Bevorzugte und vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung sind in den Unteransprüchen angegeben.

Durch eine gute und umlaufende Kontaktierung zu einem Abschirmblech bzw. einem elektrisch leitenden Gehäuse des Kopplungspartners erfolgt eine Reduzierung abgestrahlter Störstrahlung dadurch, daß aufgrund der Metallisierung bzw. Leitfähigkeit des Materials das elektrische Potential auf das elektrische Potential eines Bezugspotentials, nämlich des Potentials einer mit dem Schirmblech bzw. dem leitenden Gehäuse verbundenen metallischen Struktur gelegt werden kann. Das elektrische Potential des Steckers wird dabei auf kürzestem Weg auf das elektrische Potential der metallischen Struktur gezogen, somit die Diskontinuität vermindert, so daß eine verbesserte elektromagnetische Abschirmung vorliegt.
Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend unter Bezugnahme auf die Figuren der Zeichnung anhand mehrerer Ausführungsbeispiele näher erläutert. Es zeigen:

Kopplungspartners, der einen Transceiver mit einem metallischen oder metallisierten Gehäuse aufweist.
Figur 1 zeigt schematisch zwei gleichartig ausgebildete optische Stecker 1, die jeweils am Ende eines optischen Kabels 2 montiert und dazu vorgesehen sind, in eine Steckerbucht 30 mit zwei Steckeraufnahmen 31, 32 eines
Transceivers 3 eingesteckt zu werden. Der optische Stecker weist ein Rastelement 12 mit Rastnasen 13 und einen Betätigungshebel 14 auf.
Der Transceiver 3 weist in an sich bekannter Weise ein Sendebauelement (z.B. ein Fabric-Perot Laser oder einen VCSEL-Laser) und ein Empfangsbauelement (z. B. eine Photodiode) auf (nicht gesondert dargestellt) , die über die Steckerbucht 30 mit den Steckeraufnahmen 31, 32 optische Signale empfangen bzw. senden. Alternativ besitzt der Transceiver nur ein Sendebauelement oder nur ein Empfangsbauelement, stellt somit lediglich eine Empfangseinheit oder eine Sendeeinheit dar. Entsprechend weist die Steckerbucht dann nur eine Steckeraufnahme auf.
Der Transceiver 3 ist in ein Gehäuse 7 eingeschoben, das auf eine Leiterplatte 8 aufgesetzt ist und der Halterung, Abschirmung und Kontaktierung des Transceivers 3 dient. Das Gehäuse 7 bildet einen Blechkäfig aus, der üblicherweise aus einer Kupferlegierung oder Stahllegierung besteht und aus einem mit der Leiterplatte 8 verbundenen Unterteil 71 und einem darauf aufsetzbaren Oberteil 72 ausgebildet ist. Es handelt sich bei dem Gehäuse aufgrund der metallischen Ausbildung um ein Schirmblech.
Der Transceiver 3 ist gemäß Figur 1 hinter einer metallischen Gehäusewand bzw. Rückwand (backplane) 9 angeordnet, die Teil des Gehäuses beispielsweise eines Servers oder anderen Computers ist. Der Transceiver 3 ist derart in der Rückwand 9 angeordnet, daß der optische Port 30 des Transceivers durch eine Öffnung 91 in der Rückwand 9 hindurchragt, während die opto-elektronischen Komponenten (Laserdiode, Photodiode) hinter der Rückwand 9 angeordnet sind. Das Gehäuse 7 bzw. das Schirmblech ist dabei über Kontaktfedern 73 mit der metallischen Rückwand 9 gekoppelt. Die Öffnung 91 der Rückwand stellt eine Diskontinuität dar, über die elektromagnetische Störstrahlung nach außen ausgekoppelt werden kann. In einem weiteren Ausführungsbeispiel eines Transceivers, das schematisch in Fig. 4 dargestellt ist, weist der Transceiver 3Λ ein metallisches oder metallisiertes Gehäuse 7λ auf, in dem die optoelektronischen Wandler des Transceivers fest angeordnet sind. Das Gehäuse 7 ist über Kontaktelemente (nicht dargestellt) ähnlich den Kontaktfedern 73 der Figur 1 wiederum mit einer metallischen Rückwand gekoppelt. Es sind zwei Steckeraufnahmen 31 32 Λ zur Aufnahme jeweils eines sogenannten SC Steckers vorgesehen.
Ein Ausführungsbeispiel eines optischen Steckers, der in Figur 1 lediglich schematisch dargestellt ist, zeigt die Figur 2. Der optische Stecker 1, der die Form und Ausgestaltung eines SC-Steckers besitzt und in die Steckeraufnahmen 31 , 32 des Transceivers 3Λ der Figur 4 eingesetzt werden könnte, weist ein äußeres Steckergehäuse 11, ein inneres Steckergehäuse 13, ein Faserendstück 14, ein Adaptionsstück 15 und einen Faser-Knickschutz 12 auf. Das äußere Steckergehäuse 11 umgibt das innere Steckergehäuse 13, welches das Faserendstück 14 aufnimmt. Das Faserendstück 14 wird üblicherweise als Ferrule bezeichnet. Im vorliegenden Ausführungsbeispiel handelt es sich um eine Keramikferrule, in der in bekannter Weise eine optische Faser geführt wird. Das Adaptionsstück 15 nimmt die ummantelte Faser auf und gibt die innere Faser an das Faserendstück 14 weiter.
Das Faserendstück 14 und das Adaptionsstück 15 sind vorzugsweise metallfrei ausgeführt.
Es ist nun vorgesehen, das äußere Steckergehäuse 11, das innere Steckergehäuse 13 und/oder das Faserendstück 12 aus einem für hochfrequente elektromagnetische Strahlen (insbesondere einer Frequenz von mehr als 1 GHz) absortiven Material herzustellen. Hierbei handelt es sich in einer ersten Ausführungsvariante um mit Kohlenstoff gefüllte
Materialien, insbesondere einen mit Kohlenstoffpartikeln gefüllten Kunststoff. In einer zweiten Ausführungsvariante wird ein ferritisches Material verwendet, insbesondere ein mit Ferritpartikeln gefüllter Kunststoff. Das Grundmaterial ist dabei bevorzugt Kunststoff, so daß das mit Kohlenstoff oder einem ferritischen Material gefüllte Kunststoff in an sich bekannter, einfacher Weise im Spritzgußverfahren hergestellt werden kann. Geeignete ferritische Matrialen sind beispielsweise unter der Bezeichnung „C-RAM KRS" und „C-RAM KFE" bei der Firma Cuming Microwave, Aron, MA 02322, USA erhältlich.
Bei Einstecken des optischen Steckers 1 in eine Steckeraufnahme 31Λ, 32 Λ entsprechend der Figur 4 (bzw. bei Einstecken entsprechender Stecker in eine Steckeraufnahme 31, 32 gemäß Figur 1) wird die Steckeraufnahme abgeschirmt, so daß trotz der Öffnung 91 in der Rückwand 9 in nur verringertem Maße elektromagnetische Störstrahlung abgestrahlt wird. So wird durch die Verwendung absorptiver Materialien die Abstrahlung elektromagnetischer Störstrahlung in den Außenraum erheblich reduziert.
Figur 3 zeigt ein alternatives Ausführungsbeispiel eines optischen Steckers. Der optische Stecker besteht wiederum aus einem äußeren Steckergehäuse 11 Λ, einem inneren Steckergehäuse 13 einem Faserendstück 14 einem Adaptionsstück 15 und einem Faserknickschutz 12 . Bei diesem Ausführungsbeispiel sind das äußere Steckergehäuse 11 , das innere Steckergehäuse 13 Λ und/oder der Faserknickschutz 12 metallisiert oder bestehen diese aus einem elektrisch leitfähigen Material.
Im Falle einer Metallisierung wird beispielsweise durch ein galvanisches Abscheideverfahren oder eine Metallbedampfung eine Beschichtung auf die Außenhaut der jeweiligen Komponente aufgebracht. Auch ist es denkbar, eine aus Kunststoff bestehende Komponente 1A, 12λ, 13 Λ mit einem Drahtgeflecht oder mit einem leitende Füllpartikel enthaltenen Kunststoff zu ummanteln. Beispielsweise kann an zwei Seiten des Steckergehäuses 11 Λ eine flexible EMI Dichtung (EMI-Gasket) angeordnet sein.
Für den Fall, daß die genannten Komponenten llλ, 12Λ, 13 Λ aus einem elektrisch leitfähigen Material bestehen, kann zum einen vorgesehen sein, daß sie aus Metall bestehen. Alternativ können nichtleitende Materialien verwendet werden, die mit leitenden Füllpartikeln, beispielsweise silberummantelten Kügelchen versehen sind und aufgrund dieser Zusatzkomponenten leitfähig sind.
An dem Steckergehäuse 11 Λ sind zwei Kontaktfedern 111 , 112 vorgesehen, die beim Einstecken des optischen Steckers in eine Steckerbucht eines Kopplungspartners entsprechend metallisierte Komponenten des Kopplungspartners bzw. eines metallischen oder metallisierten Gehäuses oder Schirmblechs des Kopplungspartners kontaktieren. Beispielsweise kontaktieren die Kontaktfedern 111 , 112 Λ das metallische Gehäuse 7Λ des Ausführungsbeispiels der Figur 4.
Alternativ zu den Kontaktfedern lllλ, 112 Λ können auch an zwei oder mehr Seiten des Gehäuses EMI-Dichtungen angeordnet sein, die aus einem mit leitfähigen Partikeln gefüllten Schaumstoff oder einem Drahgeflecht bestehen.
Das innere Steckergehäuse 13 λ weist eine Nase 131 Λ auf, der beim Verrasten des Steckers in der Steckerbucht eines Kopplungspartners mit Rasthaken des Kopplungspartners verrastet. Die Nase 131 Λ des inneren Steckergehäuses 13 , ist dabei ebenfalls metallisiert bzw. elektrisch leitend ausgeführt. Bei metallisierten Rasthaken des Kopplungspartners wird durch die Metallisierung des inneren Steckergehäuses 13 Λ ein weiterer elektrischer Kontakt mit einem Abschirmelement des Kopplungspartners hergestellt.
Die Knickschutztülle 12 λ weist an der dem optischen Stecker zugewandten Seiten einen quaderförmigen Abschnitt 121 λ auf. Dieser sitzt bei dem montierten optischen Stecker gleitend in dem Steckergehäuse 1A. Es ist vorgesehen, daß insbesondere dieser quaderförmige Bereich 121 λ metallisiert ist, so daß an der Gleitfläche ein flächiger elektrischer Kontakt bereitgestellt wird. Dieser kann dabei entweder durch die
Gleitfläche 121 Λ selbst oder durch zusätzliche Kontaktfedern (nicht dargestellt) bereitgestellt werden, die auf dem quaderförmigen Abschnitt 121 Λ ausgebildet sind.
Bei Einstecken des optischen Steckers 1 in eine Steckerbucht wird Potentialverschiedenheit aufgrund der Kontaktierung zwischen dem metallisierten optischen Stecker und dem Abschirmelement bzw. Gehäuse 7λ (vgl. Fig. 4) und der weiteren Kontaktierung des Abschirmelements bzw. Gehäuses mit einer metallischen Struktur verhindert, somit also verhindert, daß der Stecker als Antenne wirkt und elektromagnetische Störstrahlung nach außen auskoppelt.
Die Erfindung beschränkt sich in ihrer Ausführung nicht auf die vorstehend dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiele.
Beispielsweise kann auch eine Kombination von metallisierten und absorptiven Materialien im Stecker verwendet werden. Beispielsweise ist dabei das äußere Steckergehäuse metallisiert, während der Faser-Knickschutz aus einem absorptiven Material besteht. Des weiteren wird darauf hingewiesen, daß die in den Figuren 2 und 3 beschriebenen optischen Stecker nur beispielhaft und nicht einschränkend zu verstehen sind. Die Erfindung kann an beliebigen optischen Steckern eingesetzt werden.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Optische Kopplungsanordnung mit
- mindestens einem optischen Stecker (1) , der mindestens ein optisches Faserendstück (14) aufweist, einem Kopplungspartner (3) , insbesondere einem optoelektronischen Transceiver, der eine Steckerbucht (32) zur Aufnahme des mindestens einen optischen Steckers aufweist, und - einem Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7 ) des Kopplungspartners (3) , wobei das Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähige Gehäuse (7 ) mit einer metallischen Struktur leitend verbindbar ist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß der optische Stecker (1) mindestens eine Komponente (11, 12, 13) aufweist, die aus einem elekromagnetische Wellen absorbierenden Material besteht.
2. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein äußeres Steckergehäuse (15) des optischen Steckers (1) aus einem absorbierenden Material besteht .
3. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Knickschutz (12) des optischen Steckers aus einem absorbierenden Material besteht .
4. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein inneres Steckergehäuse (13), das in einem äußeren Steckergehäuse (11) angeordnet ist, aus einem absorbierenden Material besteht.
5. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das absorbierende Material eine Dämpfung hochfrequenter elektromagnetischer Strahlung von mindestens -0,5 dB/cm, vorzugsweise von mindestens -3 dB/cm, vorzugsweise von mindestens -10 dB/cm bereitstellt.
6. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der optische Stecker keine metallischen Komponenten enthält.
7 . Optische Kopplungsanordnung mit - mindestens einem optischen Stecker ( 1) , der mindestens ein optisches Faserendstück ( 14 ) aufweist , einem Kopplungspartner ( 3 ) , insbesondere einem optoelektronischen Transceiver, der eine Steckerbucht ( 32 ) zur Aufnahme des mindestens einen optischen Steckers aufweist, und einem Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7λ) des Kopplungspartners (3) , wobei das Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähige Gehäuse (7Λ) mit einer metallischen Struktur leitend verbindbar ist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet
daß der optische Stecker (1) mindestens eine Komponente (11 Λ, 12 13 Λ) aufweist, die metallisiert ist oder aus einem leitfähigen Material besteht, sowie Kontaktmittel (111
112 , 131 N), über die die mindestens eine metallisierte oder aus einem leitfähigen Material bestehende Komponente (11 λ, 12Λ, 13Λ) im eingesteckten Zustand mit dem Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7Λ) des Kopplungspartners (3) elektrisch leitend verbindbar sind.
8. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Kontaktmittel von dem Gehäuse (11 λ ) des optischen Steckers abstehende Kontaktfedern (111'*, 112 ) sind.
9. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 6 oder 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Kontaktmittel Rasthaken (131Λ) sind.
10. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 7 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein äußeres Steckergehäuse (ll'1) des optischen Steckers metallisiert ist oder aus elektrisch leitfähigen Material besteh .
11. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 7 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Knickschutz (12Λ), insbesondere das steckerseitige Ende (121 ) des Knickschutzes metallisiert ist oder aus einem elektrisch leitfähigen Material besteht.
12. Optische Kopplungsanordnung nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 7 bis 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein inneres Steckergehäuse (13 ), das von einem äußeren Steckergehäuse (11 ) umgeben ist, metallisiert ist oder aus einem elektrisch leitfähigen Material besteht.
13. Optischer Stecker, insbesondere für eine optische
Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 1, mit mindestens einem optischen Faserendstück,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der optische Stecker (1) mindestens eine Komponente (11, 12, 13) aufweist, die aus einem elekromagnetische Wellen absorbierenden Material besteht.
14. Optischer Stecker nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein äußeres Steckergehäuse (11) des optischen Steckers (1) und/oder ein Knickschutz (12) des optischen Steckers und/oder ein inneres Steckergehäuse (13) , das in dem äußeren Steckergehäuse (11) angeordnet ist, aus einem absorbierenden Material bestehen.
15. Optischer Stecker, insbesondere für eine optische Kopplungsanordnung nach Anspruch 7, mit mindestens einem optischen Faserendstück,
dadurch gekennzeichnet
daß der optische Stecker (1) mindestens eine Komponente (11 , 12 Λ, 13 aufweist, die metallisiert ist oder aus einem leitfähigen Material besteht, sowie Kontaktmittel, über die die mindestens eine metallisierte oder aus einem leitfähigen Material bestehende Komponente (11 12 13 Λ) mit einem Schirmblech (7) oder leitfähigen Gehäuse (7Λ) eines Kopplungspartners (3) elektrisch leitend verbindbar sind.
17. Optischer Stecker nach Anspruch 16, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Kontaktmittel von dem Gehäuse (11 ) des optischen Steckers abstehende Kontaktfedern (lllλ, 112λ) sind.
18. Optischer Stecker nach Anspruch 16 oder 17, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Kontaktmittel Rasthaken (131 ) sind.
19. Optischer Stecker nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 16 bis 18, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein äußeres Steckergehäuse (11 Λ) des optischen Steckers und/oder ein Knickschutz (12 ) des optischen Steckers und/oder ein inneres Steckergehäuse (13 Λ), das in dem äußeren Steckergehäuse (11 Λ) angeordnet ist, metallisiert sind oder aus einem leitfähigen Material bestehen.
