Abstract

The support for the jointed arm of an awning comprises a support component (26) which connects the jointed arm to the awning support (4), and which has a guide slot (14) in which is guided a pin (18) connected to the jointed arm so that by adjustment of the guide pin along the slot the inclination of the jointed arm can be altered. To adjust the guide pin the latter has a threaded hole (25) with which interacts a setscrew (20) which is installed with its shank approximately along the adjustment path of the guide pin.

Description

The invention relates to an articulated arm support for an articulated arm of an articulated arm awning, with a support part which connects the articulated arm to an awning support, and which has at least one guide opening in which a guide pin connected to the articulated arm is guided, so that by adjusting the guide pin along the guide opening the inclination of the articulated arm is changed, and with an adjusting device for adjusting the guide pin along the guide opening.

A known adjusting device of this type (DE 44 39 788 C1) comprises an eyelet screw, the eyelet of which is penetrated by the guide pin and the screw spindle passes through a pressure piece which is pivotally mounted in a pan formed on the underside of the support part. Depending on the position of the corresponding guide pin, the set screw protrudes more or less far down from the supporting part.

Proceeding from this, the object of the present invention is to improve the visual impression of an articulated arm support mentioned at the outset with regard to a disturbing protrusion of the adjusting screw from the supporting part.

For this purpose, the invention provides that the adjusting device comprises a threaded bore in the guide pin and an adjusting screw cooperating therewith.

Zunächst seien einige der verwendeten Begriffe erläutert.First, some of the terms used are explained.

The awning's articulated arms are used to extend and retract the awning cover. Each articulated arm is articulated at one end by means of a supporting part to an awning support, which usually extends over the length of the awning and which, for example, is connected to a building wall during operation. At its end facing away from it, the articulated arms are articulated with a drop bar which usually also extends over the length of the awning connected to which the awning cloth is attached. The change in the inclination of the articulated arms by adjusting the guide pin along the guide opening therefore causes a change in the inclination of the awning fabric in the extended state. The inclination of the awning fabric when extended can thus be adapted to the local conditions. The terms "above" and "below" generally refer to the operating position of the awning.

The term "set screw" is not necessarily limited to a screw in the strict sense. The screw shaft, the thread of which cooperates with the corresponding thread of the threaded bore of the guide pin, is essential for the fulfillment of its function. The function of the screw head - for example, actuating the set screw and / or supporting the support member - can, however, also be performed in other ways, so that the screw head is advantageous due to its simplicity, but not absolutely necessary.

The shape of the "guide pin" is largely arbitrary, provided that it can fulfill its function of guiding in the guide opening. In particular, it is not fixed to a round cross section, for example. The guide pin is preferably designed as a screw; it can then be used to clamp the articulated arms on the support part following the desired adjustment.

"Führungsöffnung" meint denjenigen lichten Raum in dem Tragteil, der von dem Führungsstift überstrichen wird."Guide opening" means that clear space in the supporting part that is swept by the guide pin.

According to the invention, the adjusting screw is not displaced along its longitudinal axis when the guide pin is adjusted. As a result, an optically disadvantageous protrusion of the set screw from the supporting part is largely avoided. If the guide pin is designed, for example, as a screw, it can be achieved on the basis of the invention that - regardless of the inclination set - only the screw head protrudes from the holding part and remains visible to the viewer. An additional covering of the adjustment device, as provided in the described prior art, can be dispensed with if this is desired.

According to what has been said above, it speaks for the realization of the invention if, when the guide pin is adjusted, at most a rotation of the adjusting screw about an axis parallel to the awning axis - in addition to the functional rotation about its longitudinal axis - takes place. "Awning axis" means the central axis of the awning fabric wrap.

It is particularly advantageous if the adjusting screw with its shaft is arranged approximately along the adjustment path of the guide pin — for example, in the case of a linear adjustment path, approximately parallel to this. Adjustment path means the path traversed by the guide pin in a cross section perpendicular to the awning axis. With this arrangement, the part of the set screw which interacts with the guide pin can lie completely within the guide opening, regardless of the position of the guide pin. The guide opening, which is present anyway, is therefore used to receive a substantial part of the set screw. In addition, all that is required is a hole in the supporting part that is short in comparison to the length of the adjusting screw, through which hole the adjusting screw is guided to the outside for actuating the same. Apart from that, further openings in the support part for the set screw are not required, which has a positive effect on the stability of the support part and reduces the processing effort. In particular, the slot provided in the described prior art for the set screw can be dispensed with.

In addition, the pivoting range of the adjusting screw about an axis parallel to the awning axis is comparatively small, so that a pivot bearing, as provided, for example, in DE 44 39 788 C1, can be dispensed with with a corresponding bearing insert, which reduces the effort accordingly. If the guide opening has a curvature along its adjustment path, the corresponding pivoting movement of the set screw can be achieved, for example, by rounding the support part in the region of the support of the set screw. If the guide opening along the adjustment path of the guide pin is preferably formed in a straight line, the adjusting screw does not pivot during the adjustment about an axis parallel to the awning axis, so that a corresponding one Adjustment of the support part can be dispensed with entirely.

If the support part preferably has two guide openings, the adjusting device can be assigned to the lower guide during operation. Since the set screw is then more accessible, the overall operability is facilitated without a part of the set screw protruding downward from the supporting part.

The guide pin cooperating with the set screw must always have a sufficient diameter with regard to the threaded hole. It can therefore be expedient if the diameter of the guide pin interacting with the set screw is larger than that of the other guide pin.

Fig. 2:
View of an articulated arm support from the front, ie from the drop bar to the awning support.

A section of an articulated arm awning is shown in the area of an articulated arm support. Such a support is provided for each articulated arm. The articulated arm support 10 connects the articulated arm 22 to the awning support, which is designed as a support tube 40 and which extends over the entire length of the awning. At the ends of the support tube 40, the cloth wrap, not shown, is held. In Fig. 1 only a short piece of the upper arm of the articulated arm 22 is shown, in two different, namely the extreme inclination positions, i.e. in the horizontal position 22a and in the position 22b which is inclined downward by approximately 53 °.

The articulated arm 22 is pivoted on the arm holder 30 about the axis 33. The arm holder 30 is clamped to the support part 26 by means of two guide pins 16, 18 (with washers 17, 19) designed as clamping screws; for this purpose the Arm holder 30 corresponding threaded holes 31, 32. The articulated arm 22 is therefore indirectly connected to the support part 26 in the present case (with the interposition of the arm holder 30). The support part 26 is displaceable along the support tube 40 and can be clamped in a suitable position, for example by means of a clamping screw 42.

The guide pins 16, 18, which are designed as clamping screws, are guided in two corresponding arcuate guide openings 12, 14 in the supporting part 26 - expediently with a precise fit. These guide openings 12, 14 have different radii, this feature not being mandatory. The center points of the circles on which the guide openings are based fall apart, which in comparison to DE 38 04 150 C1 enables an increase in the swivel range and a more compact arrangement. This feature is also not mandatory. The guide pins 16, 18 are oriented parallel to the awning axis in every position, i.e. usually horizontal in operation.

The horizontal position 22a of the articulated arm 22 corresponds to the stop of the guide pins 16a, 18a at the lower end of the guide openings 12, 14; the downwardly inclined position 22b of the articulated arm 22 corresponds to the stop of the guide pins 16b, 18b at the upper end of the guide openings 12, 14.

The diameter of the lower guide pin 18 is sufficiently large for a threaded bore 25 running transversely to the pin axis. For this reason, the diameter of the lower guide pin 18 is larger than that of the upper guide pin 16. The set screw 20 is screwed into the threaded bore 25 of the lower guide pin 18. At its opposite end, the set screw 20 is mounted in a bore 27 in the support member 26 and is guided through it to the outside. The bore 27 is arranged approximately centrally in the support part 26 in the view according to FIG. 2. The set screw 20 is supported on the supporting part 26 by means of its screw head 23 (for example M 8). It is loaded by the weight of the articulated arm 22, the drop bar and the awning fabric in any position of the guide pin 18 when the clamping screws 16, 18 are loosened. The bore 27 is arranged at the lower end of the lower guide opening 14, in such a way that it allows the described pivoting movement of the adjusting screw 20 about an axis parallel to the awning axis. For this purpose, it can be oval in cross-section, for example (with the main axis in the paper plane in FIG. 1); for example, it can also be round with a diameter that leaves sufficient play for the adjusting screw 20. The position of the threaded bore 25 in the lower guide pin 18 is adapted to the position of the bore 27 in the support part. In particular, in the operating position, the lower guide pin 18 must be screwed sufficiently far into the lower threaded bore 32 of the arm holder 30, but must not yet strike the base 35 of the threaded bore 32, since it must be able to rotate a little about its longitudinal axis during its adjustment. Finally, in the operating position, the threaded bore 25 and the bore 27 in the support member 26 must be approximately aligned so that the set screw 20 can be guided through the bore 27 in the support member 26 and screwed into the threaded bore 25 in the lower guide pin 18.

Fig. 1) .By actuating the set screw 20 on the screw head 23, the lower guide pin 18 is displaced along the lower guide opening 14. As a result of the forced guidance, the upper guide pin 16 is also guided along the upper guide opening 12. As a result, the inclination of the arm holder 30 connected to the guide pins and thus also of the articulated arm 22 is adjusted. If, as usual, the awning has two articulated arms, the inclination of the awning cover can be adjusted by actuating the two corresponding adjustment devices. Due to the arc shape of the guide opening 18, the adjusting screw 20 performs a slight pivoting movement about an axis parallel to the awning axis. In order to enable this movement, the supporting part 26 is rounded convexly in the area of the screw head 23 (see FIG. 1).

M16) versehen. The assembly of an articulated arm is carried out as follows. The lower guide pin 18 is screwed into the lower threaded bore 32 of the arm holder 30 until its threaded bore 25 is approximately aligned with the bore 27 in the support part 26. The lower guide pin 18 does not yet strike the base 35 of the threaded bore 32 of the arm holder 30 in this position, so that the slight rotation of the lower guide pin 18 when the same is adjusted is possible. The lower guide pin 18 together with arm holder 30 and articulated arm 32 is then inserted through the lower guide opening 14, the set screw 20 is inserted through the bore 27 in the support part 26 and screwed into the threaded bore 25 of the lower guide pin 18. Then the upper guide pin 16 with washer 17 is inserted through the upper guide opening 12 and screwed into the upper threaded bore 31 of the arm holder 30. The lower guide pin 18 is then provided with the washer 34 and the nut 19 (for example M16).

The procedure for adjusting the inclination of the articulated arms is as follows. The awning is extended. The further procedure initially relates to an articulated arm. The upper guide pin 16 designed as a clamping screw (for example M12) and the nut 19 of the lower guide pin 18 are loosened. The set screw 20 is relieved by slightly lifting the articulated arm 22 and then adjusted in one direction or the other by actuating its screw head 23 until the desired inclination is reached. The upper guide pin 16 designed as a clamping screw and the nut 19 of the lower guide pin 18 are tightened in order to clamp the arm holder 30 to the support part 26. As a result, the set screw 20 is relieved, so that a load on the screw occurs only during the adjustment process.
The same procedure is now carried out on the other articulated arm support.
