- cooler bag is known in commerce and is used, for instance, for the transport of purchased cooled and/or frozen products from a cold storage space in a shop to a personal cold storage space, or when relatively smaller amounts of cooled food products are transferred to a different cold storage space.
- carrier bag is meant to include a unit which can be carried by a person and which is provided with a handle or carrying straps or the like.
- the storage space generally has a contents varying between, for instance, 5 and 50 liters.
- the known bag is defective in that it provides insufficient cooling and/or the use of possible cooling elements does not promote the ease of use. This is a drawback as a result of which, in practice, relatively little use is made of such cooler bags. Further it appears, that the cooling capacity is little adequate, so that the known cooler bag is relatively unsuitable for keeping foods cooled or frozen for a longer period of time, i.e. for several hours. As a result, the risk arises that the cooled/frozen products perish. This is a problem the more so, if consumers or small traders, for example entrepreneurs in the hotel and restaurant business, purchase these products. In practice, it appears hardly possible to offer sufficient guarantees, in the chain of suppliers, in particular in the link between wholesale and small trade, that cooled/frozen products have not been at an undesirably high temperature.
- the object of the invention is to provide a solution by which the risk of undesired temperature increase of cooled/frozen products during transport is considerably reduced.
- the invention provides a carrier bag as mentioned in the opening paragraph, wherein the carrier bag comprises a holder for receiving dry ice, which holder is provided with a gas permeable outflow part arranged in the storage space.
- the invention renders it possible, with the aid of extremely cold dry ice of approximately -80°C, to provide a cooling and/or freezing space with a desired temperature varying between approximately -22 °C and approximately -4°C for freezing and between approximately 2°C and approximately 7°C for cooling.
- a cooler bag is provided which is considerably better capable of maintaining the cooled products at the desired temperature.
- a further advantage of the use of dry ice is that no residual product is left.
- the holder is gas permeable and is provided at the top side of the storage space, such that subliming carbon dioxide flows into the storage space at the top side of the bag.
- an evenly cooled storage space can be created because the cold carbon dioxide flows out of the outflow part from top to bottom.
- the bottom side of the carrier bag has an undesirably low temperature while the top side of the bag does not attain the desired cooling temperature.
- the dry ice element is used in the form of a block of 16x16x2 cm, although also other sizes are possible, such as smaller blocks, tablets or grains. With such a size, the element has a contact surface such, that optimal cooling properties are provided, i.e. the element does not sublime too rapidly, so that the refrigeration would be too strong, or too slowly, so that the refrigeration would be too weak.
- the holder comprises an insulating material, thermally insulating the holder from the storage space, at least in part.
- a temperature range of the storage space can be set, in particular, a predetermined thermal contact with the storage space can be provided, so that the cooler bag, if desired, can be set at a cooling temperature or at a freezing temperature.
