An apparatus in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the slicing unit (13) has a transfer device (23) in the form of a preferably pivotal conveyor belt which extends at an incline at least on the transfer of a portion (11) for the bridging of the difference in height between an operating plane of the slicing unit (13) and the support surface (17) of the transfer unit (15).
