Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a packaging bag of liquid biological substance, such as animal semen.
  • flexible plastic tubes that, once filled with seed and closed, have a shape reminiscent of a large tube of toothpaste. They include a dispensing nozzle which connects to the body of the tube by a circular section of large diameter area.
  • Such packaging has two main disadvantages. The first is that it occupies a large thickness due to the circular section area. The second arises from the fact that the tip is closed during non-use, so it must be cut to access the seed and perform artificial insemination. This requires that the inseminator has at his disposal a sharp object such as a pair of scissors.
  • the current trend is to seek to work as quickly as possible and with a minimum of objects other than a bag and a probe, so as to limit the risk of loss of such objects and incidents they could be brought To provoke.
  • packaging bags relatively flat, formed by joining two sheets of plastic material. To these bags is attached a plastic part which includes a dispensing tip. These bags take up less space than the tubes described above, but they require an additional utensil for opening the mouthpiece.
  • spilled packaging is a bag formed exclusively of two contiguous plastic walls, so as to define a receiving pocket of said substance and, communicating with this pocket, a dump pipe whose part terminal is, in the absence of opening of the bag, closed by said adjoining walls.
  • a precut located in the vicinity of the duct, a peelable zone or additional means allows to open the empty duct without using an additional utensil.
  • this bag is connected to a probe formed of a tube, one end of which bears a solid foam pad or of a spiral shape.
  • a first possibility is to directly connect the probe to the bag, introducing the end of the tube opposite the buffer in the conduit.
  • a second possibility is to connect a connecting pipe (called fitting) to the conduit, and then connect the second end of the connector to the probe.
  • fitting a connecting pipe
  • Such a piece is in principle disposable, but it has been found that the same connection could be used for several successive inseminations. However, it is common that we observe the rise of semen into the connection or the bag, during an insemination. If the sow has a vaginal or uterine infection, the traces of seed left in the hose may soil the seed contained in a bag used for subsequent insemination. This is not acceptable at the health level.
  • GB-A-2 003 449 describes a bag according to the preamble of claim 1, in particular for storing blood platelets.
  • this bag comprises a pocket which communicates with the outside through protruding tubes.
  • each tubing In the unopened state, each tubing is located inside a closed compartment and is thus isolated from the outside.
  • the closure means of the compartment consist of a peelable peripheral weld which is located at a distance from the tubing.
  • To connect the tubing to a filling or emptying means one discards the two sheets which constitute the compartment to destroy the peelable weld.
  • the tubing is then completely accessible, so that its entire length can be subject to pollution.
  • the connection of a tube or a pipe to such a tubing is rather difficult. Indeed, it is restrained to the bag at one of its ends, so that the tubing / bag assembly does not really hold and rigidity, which complicates its connection to a tube or pipe .
  • the present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages.
  • the present invention also aims to provide a bag that can adapt to probe tubes of different diameters, under easy handling conditions, and with a probability of pollution of the packaged product in the bag, reduced to a minimum.
  • the object of the present invention is, while achieving the objectives mentioned above, to make the single use of said connection compulsory.
  • the invention aims to achieve all of these objectives using simple and inexpensive means.
  • the packaging bag object of the invention is formed of two plastic walls contiguous so as to define a substance receiving pocket and, communicating with this pocket, a dump pipe whose end portion is , in the absence of opening of the bag, closed by said adjoining walls.
  • This bag is essentially remarkable in that it comprises, forcibly fitted into the conduit, a cannula whose two ends are open, its first end being able to communicate with said pocket, while its second end, located in the vicinity of the end portion of the duct has a narrowing section, frustoconical or approximately frustoconical. It is also remarkable in that said conduit communicates, over a fraction of its length, with at least one zone located not far from the end portion, in which the two walls are not contiguous.
  • the presence of at least one zone in which the walls of the bag are not contiguous will facilitate access to the end of the cannula, since the plastic material which initially covered it will be able to be discarded.
  • the cannula remains protected and retained by the plastic material of the conduit over a good part of its length. It is thus protected from external pollution.
  • the cannula is integral with the bag, which gives it all a high rigidity, which makes it even easier to connect a probe tube.
  • Another aspect of the invention relates to a strip of packets of liquid biological substance, which consists of a juxtaposition of bags as described above.
  • the liquid biological packaging bag shown in Figure 1 is more particularly intended to receive animal semen, including porcine.
  • Its general structure is of known type. In this case, it is formed of two plastic walls 10 and 11, of elongated rectangular contour. It is a transparent or translucent plastic material, such as polyethylene, polyamide or polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
  • PET polyethylene terephthalate
  • the two walls may consist of two separate sheets or one and the same sheet folded on itself. Each sheet can be mono- or multilayer.
  • the walls are contiguous to each other to define in particular a pocket P for receiving the substance.
  • the walls are joined by welding.
  • they could be by another technique, especially by gluing.
  • the zones 12 comprise two large pads 120 which have a generally rectangular shape. They are willing symmetrically on either side of the longitudinal central axis of the bag, their long sides extending parallel to the narrow sides 14 of the bag. Between them extends a non-welded zone which bears the reference numeral 13 and which constitutes an opening for filling the pocket P with seed. In a central zone of the studs 120 are provided circular openings 2 able in particular to allow to hang the bag to a support, for example for filling.
  • the two zones 120 are each connected to a weld line 121 of small width which extends in the vicinity and parallel to the long sides 15 of the bag.
  • the lines 121 are connected in the lower part of the bag, to large pads 122, each forming a substantially rectangular shape and communicating with each other, in the lower part, by a narrow welded bead 123, in the longitudinal median axis.
  • a cannula 4 preferably of rigid or semi-rigid plastic material. It is open at both ends, its first end 41 communicating with the pocket P. Its second end 40, located in the vicinity of the end portion 30 of the duct 3, has a narrowing section which gives it a frustoconical or substantially frustoconical shape. This end portion has a pointed shape which constitutes an extension of the zones 5. It therefore has a width less than that of the duct 3.
  • the diameter of the cannula, outside the end portion, is chosen in a size such that it can be inserted by force inside the conduit via the pocket P. Thus, there is no space between the cannula and the conduit, so that the seed can not flow between them. If necessary, the cannula can be adhered to the plastic material of the conduit, for example by thermofusion over a few millimeters.
  • the tip 40 of the cannula abuts against the converging edges of the end portion 30, thereby providing a liquid seal.
  • the zones 5 are rectangular or square.
  • FIG. 10 A still different embodiment of the conduit is shown in Figure 10.
  • both sides of the conduit have been shown in dissimilar embodiments. They could be, of course, identical.
  • the walls of the duct are not contiguous to that of the cannula over its entire length, but only in certain areas. These zones are sufficient to ensure a lateral setting of the cannula.
  • the walls of the duct 3 are substantially contiguous with that of the cannula, in its end portion 41 facing the pocket. This is necessary so that the semen does not flow between the conduit and the cannula.
  • the bag has, at one of the zones 122, and parallel to the short sides 14, a cut 6. This cut stops in the vicinity of the end portion of the conduit 3, in the immediate vicinity of one of the zones 5. It delimits a tongue L of lower grip.
  • the bag 1 shown in Figure 1 shows its state before it is filled with seed.
  • the filling technique is of known and relatively conventional type. This essentially consists in introducing a mouthpiece into the opening 13 to the inside of the pocket and flowing semen through the mouthpiece. This operation can be done manually or mechanized.
  • the opening 13 is then closed, in particular by hot welding.
  • the pocket is hermetically closed.
  • the diameter of the cannula is chosen such that as soon as the bag is filled, the seed flows into it. This allows for a better priming of the seed flow, during insemination
  • the tongue L defined by the cutout 6, is grasped and a pull directed parallel to the short sides of the bag 14 is made. This has the effect of tearing the plastic material along the line shown in dotted lines in FIG.
  • the cannula is bordered by two non-contiguous zones 5, it is possible to release and lift the tongue of plastic material 100 which initially covered the end of the cannula.
  • N is referenced by the folds that form the plastic material at the zones 5, and which facilitate the release of the tongue.
  • the length of the cannula is planned so that the operator can take it in his hands.
  • the cannula can measure about 3.5 cm, a cannula / pouch length ratio, of the order of 0.14.
  • FIG. 3 A simplified embodiment of such a probe is shown in Figure 3. It comprises a tube 70 of semi-rigid plastic material, with at one of its ends, a buffer 71 of foam material.
  • the probe is connected to the cannula at its opposite end to the foam pad. This connection is easily made thanks to the particular shape of the end of the cannula, namely frustoconical.
  • connection operation is simple and easy in that the cannula has a much greater rigidity than the plastic material that constitutes the bag.
  • the connection is done without risk that the probe is disconnected, because the plastic material covering the end of the cannula could be released thanks to the presence of the zones 5.
  • the tube of the probe does not have to be introduced inside the bag, the risks of drilling evoked above no longer exist. Therefore, one can afford to reduce the thickness of the walls 10 and 11. Thus, for example, this thickness can be reduced from 90 micrometers to 60 micrometers.
  • FIGS. 4 and 5 has the same general physiognomy as that of FIG. 1. However, unlike the latter, its duct 3 no longer extends along the longitudinal median axis of the bag.
  • the pocket P communicates with the conduit through an opening 9 disposed in one of its lower corners.
  • the conduit 3 is extended by a rectilinear channel 8 which extends parallel to the long sides 15.
  • the bag is separated from the channel by a longitudinal partition 124 where the two walls 10 and 11 are contiguous. This partition is interrupted to constitute the opening 9 of communication of the pocket P with the duct 3.
  • the partition 124 has a thickened 126 with a curved profile 125. The function will be explained later.
  • the weld line facing the outside of the bag also has at this level an extra thickness 126.
  • the channel 8 has a flared shape which makes it communicate outwards through an opening 81.
  • the channel has a width greater than that of the duct 3.
  • the bag of FIG. 5 differs from that of FIG. 4 in that a cannula 4 'is represented inside the assembly formed by the duct 3 and its channel extension 8.
  • This cannula 4 ' has a tapered frustoconical end 40'. As in the previous embodiment, this end is in the vicinity of the lower end portion of the conduit 3. At the opposite end 41 ', the cannula 4' has a flare.
  • the bag is used as described below.
  • the end of the cannula is grasped so as to extract it partially from the bag.
  • the relative dimensions of the cannula and channel 8 will of course have been chosen so that this sliding is relatively easy.
  • the flared end of the cannula abuts against the end of the duct which communicates with the opening 9. It can not be completely extracted from the bag.
  • the end 40 'of the cannula 4' can then be connected to an insemination probe 7.
  • This cannula acts as a connector similar to those used hitherto in the form of independent parts.
  • the insemination is carried out by gravity flow of the seed inside the cannula 4 'via the opening 9.
  • the seed flow has been marked by the arrows g in FIG.
  • the cannula 4 therefore has, in addition to its intrinsic advantages, also those related to the use of a connector.
  • the duct 3 and the channel have an inverted position with respect to that which they occupy in the previous embodiment. This means that the duct is opened by the small side 14 of the pocket which also allows its filling.
  • the area can be reduced to a minimum, the released space can be occupied by the pocket. This allows in particular to reduce the width and save plastic.
  • the cannula 4 extends inside the pocket, along the longitudinal median axis of the bag. It is bordered by a series of sections T in which the walls 10 and 11 are contiguous. Each series forms a fractional partition C.
  • the sections constitute guiding means during the partial extraction of the cannula.
  • the partitions could each consist of a single uninterrupted line, in which the walls are contiguous.
  • FIG. 10 is shown yet another embodiment of the bag according to the invention.
  • This bag has a physiognomy similar to that described with reference to FIG.
  • the partitions C which "frame" the cannula extend towards the upper outside of the bag to form a "bridge” C 'which surrounds its end 41'.
  • this bridge On either side of this bridge are provided access openings 13 to two compartments of the pocket P 1 and P 2 separated by the cannula 4 'and its associated partitions.
  • the partitions each have an interruption for emptying the compartments. These interruptions are offset in height.
  • compartments can communicate only when the cannula is partially extracted from the bag, that is to say when its end 41 'is in the vicinity of the conduit 3.
  • FIG 11 an additional embodiment of the cannula.
  • the narrowing section 44 of frustoconical shape, here frames two portions 42 and 43 in which they have a circular and uniform section.
  • the portion 43 has a diameter smaller than that of the portion 42. It is intended to be turned towards the end portion of the conduit 3 of the bag.
  • the portion 43 is then engaged in the tube of the probe.
  • the fact that the diameter is reduced allows a slow flow of the probe, conducive to insemination of better quality.
  • the upper part of the portion 42 is flared so as to allow it to lock in translation in the duct 3.
  • the bag has no cut 6 or tab L.
  • the bag is opened by breaking the plastic material, at the lower end of the cannula 4.
  • This opening can be performed while the operator holds the bag in one hand, and manipulates the plastic with his second hand.
  • an experienced person can both hold the bag and open it with one hand.
  • This cannula therefore has an additional function, namely that of constituting a tearing tool.
  • a PET / polyethylene complex is ideally suited, these two materials respectively constituting the outer and inner sides of each wall.
  • the contiguous areas 5 result from the absence of solder between the two plastic sheets constituting the bag.
  • "Peelable weld” means a weld which still allows to separate the two sheets without affecting the integrity.
