Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel delivery unit of a motor vehicle with a fuel pump which has at least two inlet regions and two independent delivery chambers and with a filter module for filtering the fuel flowing into the inlet regions.
- filter modules When used in today's motor vehicles fuel delivery units filter modules with one filter fabric for each of the inlet areas are used on the feed pump.
- one of the delivery chamber serves to convey fuel from a surge pot to an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle.
- the second, separate from the first delivery chamber delivery chamber serves to promote fuel in the swirl pot.
- the filter fabric may have a designated mesh size for the particular application.
- the invention is based on the problem to design a filter module of the type mentioned so that it is particularly inexpensive to produce. Furthermore, a structurally particularly simple fuel delivery unit to be created.
- the filter module has a common filter region directly connected to both inlet regions of the fuel pump.
- the fuel delivery unit according to the invention requires a particularly low production cost for the filter area.
- the filter region can be manufactured in one piece for both inlet regions and therefore particularly cost-effectively.
- the two filter areas can be mounted very easily in one operation.
- the fuel delivery unit is particularly compact and requires very few components to be mounted. A complex attachment of multiple filter areas on the feed pump is avoided thanks to the invention.
- the fuel delivery unit is therefore structurally particularly simple.
- Different filter levels of the fuel streams supplied to the delivery chambers can be easily generated according to another advantageous development of the invention if a filter region covers only one of the inlet regions of a plurality of filter regions with different pore widths arranged one above the other.
- the filter region covering the one inlet region can be provided with a particularly small pore width.
- the fuel supplied to this inlet area thus contains less dirt particles than the fuel which is supplied to the other inlet area.
- the fuel delivery unit according to the invention could have a separate connection piece in the filter module for each of the inlet regions.
- the filter module is structurally particularly simple if it has a single connection piece for both inlet areas.
- a faulty assembly or a rotation of the filter module relative to the fuel pump can be according to a Another advantageous development of the invention simply avoid when a the inlet portions exhibiting housing part and a connecting piece of the filter module each have round cross-sections for the inlet areas and when the cross sections merge into one another.
- a mutual influence of the currents in the inlet regions can be according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention easily avoided if the housing part has a guided up to the housing of the filter module partition.
- Figure 1 shows schematically the the bottom of a fuel tank 1 facing region of a fuel delivery unit 2 in longitudinal section.
- the fuel delivery unit 2 is mounted within a swirl pot 3 and has a fuel pump 5 driven by an electric motor 4.
- the fuel pump 5 has a between two housing parts 6, 7 rotatably arranged impeller 8.
- the housing parts 6, 7 are held by a spacer ring 9 at a distance.
- the impeller 8 has in its end faces a plurality of rings 10 - 12 of vane chambers bounding vanes.
- the wreaths 10 - 12 are arranged opposite each other partially annular channels 13 - 15.
- the partially annular channels 13-15 and the blade chambers each form inlet chambers 16, 17 to outlet regions 18, 19 extending delivery chambers 20, 21.
- the fuel pump 5 thus operates on the principle of the side channel pump.
- the innermost of the delivery chambers 21 serves to supply an ejector 22 shown in Figure 3 with propellant.
- the radially outer rings 10, 11 of the blade chambers are interconnected and form with the corresponding part-annular channels 13, 14 a single delivery chamber 20 for conveying fuel to an internal combustion engine, not shown, of the motor vehicle.
- the fuel delivery unit 2 has a filter module 23 for both inlet regions 16, 17 with a common filter region 24 arranged in the surge pot 3.
- the filter region 24 may be, for example, a filter fabric with a designated mesh size.
- the filter region 24 can have a plurality of filter fabrics arranged one above the other with different mesh sizes, so that the fuel is first coarse and then finely filtered.

Description
- Fig.1
- Fig.2
- Fig.3
