The two brushes are wound around each other so that the bristle carrying portions are twisted over each other for a constant relative spacing.

Description

The present invention relates to a cosmetic product applicator, in particular mascara, as used in particular for eyelashes and eyebrows.

Le second type de torsadage, le plus répandu jusqu'à présent, permet d'obtenir une brosse qualifiée de "brosse droite".In the field of mascara, the most commonly used applicators are formed of so-called "twisted" brushes. Such twisted brushes are obtained by arranging a sheet of bristles between the two branches of a wire configured hairpin, and then twisting the two branches of the wire about its axis. The wire thus twisted forms a helix (in fact, one for each strand of wire) whose turns, depending on the direction of twisting of the wire, rise from left to right (when the brush is seen from the front in a vertical position) or from right to left. The first type of twisting provides a brush sometimes qualified "left brush". Such a brush is described in particular in patent EP 0 611 170 in the name of the applicant. The second type of twisting, the most widespread so far, provides a brush called "brush right".

Such twisted brushes generally comprise a portion "empoilée" defining an application portion, extending by a "nonempoilée" portion of the wire, sometimes called "tail" of the brush, and serving in particular for fixing the device on a rod connected in particular to an organ for gripping the device.

During the last fifteen years, twisted brushes of various shapes and sizes have appeared, using more or less large hairs, in varying degrees, and of variable nature. All these modifications are aimed at modifying the makeup obtainable with such a brush, taking into account in particular the rheology of the product to be applied.

Depending on the configuration of the twisted brush, it is thus possible to play on the product load, on the separation of the eyelashes, on their elongation or on their bending. The possibilities are not infinite, however.

In one of the embodiments of the document EP 0 717 944, there is described an applicator formed by folding over itself a twisted brush, substantially at half of its length, then by a 180 ° rotation of the one of the half-branches around the other. In the end, this results in an applicator forming two loops, intended to form a product reservoir. At the point of intersection of the half-branches, the distance from one relative to the other is substantially zero. Then this distance increases progressively on both sides of the crossing point to reach a maximum before decreasing, on the one hand in the direction of the folding zone, and on the other hand, in the direction of an area where both Half-branches are not twisted and parallel to each other.

A major difficulty of such a configuration is its size, transversely to the axis of the brush, which congestion poses a problem especially for the introduction and passage of the brush in the wiper member. In addition, the manufacture of such an applicator in an automated manner is most problematic.

Thus, in a field still in search of new cosmetic and / or aesthetic effects, the invention aims to achieve a new applicator offering, compared to known applicators, other possibilities still in terms of makeup, including eyelashes or eyebrows .

Another object of the invention is to provide an applicator that is economical to produce and easy to use.

Still other objects will appear in the following detailed description.

  • a) une première brosse formée d'une première âme torsadée qui, sur une première portion empoilée, emprisonne des poils disposés de manière radiale relativement à l'âme ;
  • b) une seconde brosse formée d'une seconde âme torsadée qui, sur une seconde portion empoilée, emprisonne des poils disposés de manière radiale relativement à l'âme ;
According to the invention, these objects are achieved by producing a cosmetic product applicator, in particular mascara, comprising:
  • a) a first brush formed of a first twisted core which, on a first empoilated portion, traps bristles arranged radially relative to the core;
  • b) a second brush formed of a second twisted core which, on a second empoilated portion, traps bristles arranged radially relative to the core;
said first and second brushes being wound around each other so that on at least one empoiled portion of the applicator, the first and second webs are twisted relative to one another by extending at a distance one of the other substantially constant.

Thus, unlike the document EP-A1-0 717 944, in which the brush was folded and then rotated 180 ° so as to form two open loops, according to the invention, the two twisted brushes are wound one relatively to the other so that their respective souls, on the twisted portion, progress at a constant distance from each other.

Such a constant distance between the two twisted cores is obtained in particular by maintaining the first two ends of two parallel brushes arranged as close as possible to one another, by means of a fixed jaw in rotation, and the two seconds ends of the two brushes by means of a jaw rotated relative to the first. The two brushes can be secured to one another at a folding zone of a double length starting brush.

Preferably, the two twisted cores are wound at least 1 turn (360 °) around each other. More preferably, they are wound at least 1.5 turns, and more preferably at least two turns.

Preferably, the two brushes before being twisted one around the other, are of substantially identical total length, the respective lengths of their empoilées portions and their non-empoilé portions being otherwise generally identical.

During twisting, the brushes can have their respective empoilated portions and their respective non-empoilées portions in sensitive axial superposition or be axially offset so that the webs of the two brushes are twisted relative to each other, only over a portion of the total length of the empoiled portion of the applicator.

Preferably, each of the first and second starting brushes comprises a first free end located on the side of the empoiled portion opposite the tail. Similarly, each of the first and second brushes comprises a second free end located on the side of the tail opposite the empoilated portion.

The applicator according to the invention makes it possible to generate multiple new geometries and hair configurations, which new geometries and configurations offer as many new possibilities in terms of makeup.

These new geometries and configurations result in particular from the fact that the turns of each of the brushes go, when twisting the first brush relative to the second, to interlock with each other, to crush in part, and, therefore, to have a new behavior when they will be put in engagement with the eyelashes or the eyebrows with a view to an application of a product of care or makeup.

Of course, the degree of nesting of the turns between them depends on many parameters, and in particular on the configuration of each of the first and second brushes and the manner in which they are twisted relative to each other (in particular, the not twisted).

Preferably, the empoilated portion of the applicator is integral with a non-potted portion, the non-pocketed portion resulting from the twisting of first and second unpouched portions of the first and second twisted cores. Thus, the unpouched portion of the apalicator is formed from the twisting of four strands of iron son pre-twisted two by two.

Advantageously, the unpouched portion of the applicator is integral with a rod, which preferably is secured to a cap of a packaging unit and application to which is intended the applicator.

Generally, the mounting of the applicator on the rod is done by insertion of the free end of the tail of the applicator into a blind bore formed in the axis of the rod, the end of the latter (or the tail the applicator) being heated so as to soften the thermoplastic material forming the rod and to facilitate the mounting of the applicator on the rod.

According to a particular embodiment, before twisting the first brush around the second, a section of the first brush in a plane containing the first twisted core is substantially identical to a section of the second brush in a plane containing the second twisted core . Thus, the two brushes can be in particular cylindrical, frustoconical, or cylindro-frustoconical.

Alternatively, before twisting the first brush around the second, a section of the first brush in a plane containing the first twisted core is different from a section of the second brush in a plane containing the second twisted core. Thus, the first brush may be cylindro-frustoconical, the second brush being peanut-shaped.

The first and second brushes may be "straight" brushes. Alternatively, the first and second brushes are "left" brushes.

The "combined" or "double twist" twist formed by the first twisted core relative to the second may be in the same sense as the twist of the first and second twisted cores.

Alternatively, the "double twist" formed by the first twisted core relative to the second is of the opposite direction in the direction of the twist of the first and second twisted cores.

According to another embodiment, the first brush is a "straight" brush, the second brush being a "left" brush.

The bristles of the first brush may be of a different color than the bristles of the second brush. Thus, the bristles of the first brush may be white while the bristles of the second brush are black.

The first twisted core is formed from two branches of a first wire, the second twisted core being formed from two branches of a second wire, identical to the first. The diameter of the wire forming each of the two twisted brushes can range from 0.2 mm to 1.5 mm, and preferably from 0.3 mm to 0.8 mm.

Thus, the first wire may have a diameter of 0.45 mm, the second wire being of a diameter of about 0.7 mm.

The first brush may include bristles in number and / or diameter, and / or length, and / or nature, different from the number and / or diameter, and / or the length, and / or the nature of the bristles. bristles of the second twisted brush.

Thus, the bristles of the first brush may be polyamide 6-6, 6-10 or 6-11. The bristles of the second brush may be elastomeric.

Additions, such as bactericidal agents, magnetic fillers, or slip agents may be added to the thermoplastic material forming the bristles so as to modify the mechanical and / or chemical properties thereof.

For example, the diameter of the bristles of the first brush may range from 0.10 mm to 0.17 mm while the bristles of the second brush have a diameter of about 0.25 mm.

For example, the number of bristles of the first brush can go from 10 to 40 per turn while it is less than 10 for the second brush.

Alternatively, the first brush comprises bristles in number and / or diameter, and / or length, and / or nature, identical to the number and / or diameter, and / or the length, and / or the nature of the bristles of the second twisted brush.

Thus, by playing combined or separate on each of these parameters mentioned above, multiple possibilities in terms of makeup can be obtained.

One can multiply the possibilities by playing on the shape of the ends of the bristles of one and / or the other of the starting brushes. Endings, in particular in the form of balls, hooks or other asperities can be imparted to the ends of the bristles of one and / or the other of the brushes, by a particular thermal, chemical or mechanical treatment.

According to another aspect of the invention, an assembly is also produced for packaging and applying a product to the keratinous fibers, in particular the eyelashes or the eyebrows, comprising a container containing the product, said container delimiting an opening at the vicinity of which is a wiper member, said assembly being equipped with an applicator according to any one of the preceding claims.

The product can be of liquid to pasty consistency, or solid.

According to yet another aspect of the invention, a method is also provided for manufacturing a cosmetic product applicator, in particular mascara, comprising the following steps:
  • a) forming a first brush consisting of a first twisted core which, on a first empoilated portion, traps bristles arranged radially relative to the core;
  • b) forming a second brush consisting of a second twisted core which, on a second empoilated portion, traps bristles arranged radially relative to the core; and
  • c) winding said first and second brushes around each other so that on at least one empoiled portion of the applicator, the first and second brushes second cores are twisted relative to one another by extending at a substantially constant distance from each other.

After twisting, the applicator may be the subject of a number of additional operations, such as "cutting" operations, in particular by means of a mower, so as to modify the shape of the brush, or operations to twist the applicator in at least one plane so as to make it curved.

Similarly, the free ends of the twisted core of each of the two brushes may, after twisting of the two starting brushes, be joined by means of a system in the form of a plug, in particular made of thermoplastic material, and intended to render the end of the applicator less aggressive for the eye.

  • la figure 1 est relative à un premier mode de réalisation de l'applicateur selon l'invention ;
  • la figure 2 est relative à un second mode de réalisation de l'applicateur selon l'invention;
  • la figure 3 est relative à un troisième mode de réalisation de l'applicateur selon l'invention ;
The invention consists, apart from the arrangements described above, in a certain number of other arrangements which will be explained below, with reference to nonlimiting exemplary embodiments, described with reference to the appended figures, among which:
  • Figure 1 relates to a first embodiment of the applicator according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 relates to a second embodiment of the applicator according to the invention;
  • FIG. 3 relates to a third embodiment of the applicator according to the invention;
  • Figures 4A-4D illustrate examples of respective cross sections of the starting brushes, before twisting around each other; and
  • FIG. 5 represents a packaging and applicator assembly using an applicator according to the invention.

The applicator 1 of FIG. 1 is made from a first twisted brush 2 and a second twisted brush 6.

La brosse 2 est de type "brosse droite".The first twisted brush 2 comprises a twisted core 3 having a punched portion 4 cut in the form of peanut in which are trapped bristles, arranged radially to the axis of the brush. Adjacent to the empoilée portion 4, is a non-empoilée portion 5. The brush 2 is "straight brush" type.

La brosse 6 est de type "brosse droite".The second twisted brush 6 comprises a twisted core 7 comprising a peanut shaped portion 8 cut in which are trapped hairs arranged radially to the axis of the brush. Adjacent to the empoilated portion 8 is a non-stacked portion 9. The brush 6 is of the "straight brush" type.

In order to obtain the brush 1 according to this embodiment of the invention, the brushes 2 and 6 are arranged next to one another, by arranging the ends of the non-stacked portions 5, 9 of the two brushes 2 and 6. in a jaw, fixed in rotation.

The ends of the empoilated portions 4 and 8 of the two brushes are arranged in a second jaw, driven in rotation by means of a motor rotating in the opposite direction of clockwise. The twisted cores 3 and 7 of the brushes 2 and 6 wind around each other to form a helix advancing in the opposite direction to the helix each forming twisted cores.

In addition, after mutual twisting of the brushes 2 and 6, the combined brush can be mowed, by means of a suitable cutting tool, so as to modify the shape, depending on an aesthetic and / or properties of application sought.

The resulting brush 1 comprises a potted portion 10 and a non-empoiled portion 11, adjacent to the puckered portion. The end of the unpouched portion 11 is introduced into a blind bore axially formed at the end of a rod 12, itself secured to a cap 13. The application unit 50 thus formed is intended to equip a set of packaging and application that will be described in more detail later.

The empoilée portion 10 of the brush 1 comprises a plurality of turns nesting more or less in each other, allowing makeup different makeup can be obtained with each of the brushes 2 and 6 taken separately.

The embodiment of Figure 2 differs from the previous embodiment in that the brush 2 is a "left" brush, while the brush 6 is of the "right" type. In the previous embodiment, the two brushes 2 and 6 were of the "right" type.

The bristle arrangement of the brush 1, obtained by twisting the brushes 2 and 6, is distinct from the bristle arrangement of the previous embodiment. In particular, the degree of nesting of the turns, although not apparent on purely schematic representations, is appreciably more marked. On application, it results in a different makeup.

The embodiment of FIG. 3 differs from the embodiment of FIG. 1 in that the emptied portion 4 of the brush 2 is in the form of a peanut while the emptied portion 8 of the brush 6 is cylindrical over substantially all its length and frustoconical near its end opposite the tail 9 of the brush 6.

By twisting the brushes 2 and 6 in the manner indicated above with reference to the embodiments of FIGS. 1 and 2, the result is a hair arrangement distinct from that previously obtained. Such an arrangement is remarkable in particular by the presence of shorter hairs and longer hairs.

As shown in FIG. 4A, the two starting brushes 2 and 6 may be of identical sections, the bristle density of the brush 2 being smaller than the bristle density of the brush 6.

Toutefois, la brosse 2 est de section plus faible que la brosse 6.In Figure 4B, the bristle densities of the brushes 2 and 6 are substantially identical. However, the brush 2 is of smaller section than the brush 6.

In FIG. 4C, the brush 2 forms a semi-cylinder, with a planar face, which at the time of twisting with the brush 6, is arranged facing a flat face of the triangle formed by the brush 6.

In FIG. 4D, the brush 2 extends over a small angular portion (typically of the order of 100.degree .. The brush 6 extends over an angular portion of approximately 240.degree .. Thus, in order to twist the brushes 2 and 6 one around the other, the brush 2, of complementary shape of the brush 6, is disposed inside the "missing district" of the latter.

Still other combinations are possible, depending on the configuration desired for the applicator. By way of additional example, it is possible to use two starting brushes of which the section forms an isosceles triangle, and of which the opposite faces to their vertices connecting the elements are brought face to face before twisting with respect to one another. two identical sides.

For still further, the cross section, for example circular, of one of the starting brushes can gradually diminish from the tail to the free end of his empoilée part, while the section of the Another starting brush, also circular, is gradually increasing from the tail to the free end of its empoilée part.

In Figure 5, there is shown a set of packaging and application 100, equipped with an applicator 1 as described above. The assembly 100 comprises a container 101 containing a reserve of cosmetic product such as mascara and an application unit 50. The application unit 50 comprises a brush 1, of the twisted brush type, fixed at one end of a rod 12, of axis X. The other end of the rod 12 is integral with a gripping element 13 which also constitutes a closure cap of the container 101. The container 101 comprises a wiper member 106 here constituted by a cylindrical sleeve whose one end terminates in a flexible, annular lip 107. In the mounted position of the application unit 50 on the container 101, the brush 1 is in its entirety between the wiper lip 107 and the bottom of the container. Other types of wiper members may be used, for example an open or semi open cell foam block, traversed axially by a slot or a passage, the edges of which delimit it are substantially contiguous in the absence of constraint.

Le mouvement d'extraction de l'applicateur est de direction sensiblement longitudinale à l'axe X. Après usage, l'utilisatrice remet l'applicateur dans le récipient, en faisant à nouveau passer le dispositif d'application 1 au travers de l'organe d'essorage 106.In order to use the applicator, the user unscrews the cap formed by the gripping member 13, and extracts the application unit 50 from the container 101. In doing so, the applicator 1 is made to pass through of the wiper member 106, so as to dose the amount of product distributed on the teeth or on the bristles. The extraction movement of the applicator is of substantially longitudinal direction to the axis X. After use, the user puts the applicator back into the container, again passing the application device 1 through the wiper member 106.

In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to preferred embodiments of the invention. It is obvious that variations can be made without departing from the invention as claimed hereinafter.
