Definitions
- the invention relates to a catalytic gas combustion device for a personal device Need, especially hair styling device, such as hair curlers or hair dryers the preamble of claim 1.
- hair styling device such as hair curlers or hair dryers the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a catalytic gas combustion device is known from document US 5 394 862 A.
- Such catalytic gas combustion devices are used in personal devices Used as needed to generate thermal energy with gas without electricity.
- Such a thing Device is, for example, by the applicant itself under the name HS3 Plus sold as "Braun Style Shaper".
- the ignition device from a piezo igniter with two ignition electrodes arranged next to one another consists. These ignition electrodes are in the chamber surrounding the catalyst arranged.
- the gas supply is first via a on the gas supply device arranged valve device opened mechanically. Gas flows with mixing with air through the gas supply device and enters the space of the catalyst. Since the catalyst consists of a tubular sieve part, the gas-air mixture also get into the chamber, where it is distributed and thus flows around the ignition electrodes. Now the piezo igniter is ignited by hand and sparks jump from one to the other electrode, which cause the gas-air mixture to ignite in the chamber and thus initiates the catalytic combustion process on the catalyst. To the Initiating the ignition process must elapse a certain amount of time before this Gas-air mixture has reached the electrodes. Only then is it possible to do that Explosion of gas-air mixture.
- the object of the invention is now a catalytic gas combustion device for a device to create the domestic needs, in particular gas curier or hair dryer, at the shortly after opening the gas supply, just by initiating the ignition process Gas-air mixture can be detonated, causing catalytic combustion sets in quickly.
- Another advantage is the very reliable ignition system, because the ignition process due to the short gas path and the rapid flow around the igniter is reproducible with the gas-air mixture and therefore ignition failures can be avoided. is always reproducible in the same way due to the short gas path.
- Gas supply devices are to be understood as those components of the gas combustion device which connect to the gas valve to control the gas flow. It is also quite conceivable that part of the catalyst, in which the gas-air mixture flows in, can be provided with a bypass.
- the gas-permeable cover acts like one Throttle valve, so that a certain amount of the gas-air mixture safely and quickly also reaches the ignition device via the bypass.
- the greater the gas permeability of the first Coverage is the more of the gas-air mixture becomes the chamber of the catalyst fed and the less reaches the ignition device.
- the output of the bypass is one second gas permeable cover, which is in coordination with the first cover
- the permeability is chosen so that there is still sufficient gas-air mixture reaches the ignition device via the bypass.
- This second cover also has that Advantage that the gas explosion proceeding from the ignition device does not pass through the bypass into the chamber of the catalyst, but only from the outside through the catalyst surrounding space reaches the catalyst.
- the first and second cover from a metallic sieve, the passages of which are a sufficient amount of Allow the gas-air mixture to flow to both the catalytic converter and the ignition device. That too metallic screen of the second cover serves as a kind of gas flow restrictor so as not To give too much gas to the ignition device.
- the two covers serve also as an improvement in the mixing of the gas-air mixture when passing through the covers flows.
- patent claim 6 also enable simple manufacture of the bypass on the gas supply device by merely forming a slot on the side of the bore which is bounded by the second cover at its opening.
- the one-piece design of the first and second cover as a cover part the manufacture, parts storage and assembly of the device considerably simplified. This lowers the cost of the device.
- the features of claim 8 allow a simple connection of the catalyst the cover and the gas supply device by placing the cover on the gas supply device and the catalyst is again centered on the cover. In this way the catalyst can be fixed to the gas supply device, for example via a screw connection, Gluing, plastic deformation or any other known fastening device, get connected.
- FIGS. 1 to 3 there is the curling iron or hair curler 1, which is only partially shown from a tube 3 provided with circumferentially distributed passages 2, in its chamber 4, a tubular catalyst 5 consisting of a grid-shaped material is arranged is.
- the heat-permeable tube 3 is on a centering pin formed on a base 6 7 pushed on and centered there.
- the free end 8 of the tube 3 strikes to a formed on the base 6 end face 9 and is in this position in the Drawing, not shown, actuating means fixedly connected to the base 6.
- the Base 6 is preferably formed from a temperature-resistant plastic Plastic part made.
- the base 6 serves as a receptacle not shown in the drawing Ignition device, a valve device and one formed in a handle Gas cartridge with housing, as is the case with the device described above.
- a centering mandrel 10 is formed on the base 6, on its base Outer surface 11, a gas supply device 12 is centered and fastened in a sealing manner.
- the gas supply device 12 consists essentially of a Central tube 13, the bore 14 is tapered from right to left up to a step 15 tapered, which results in better flow and mixing ratios of the gas-air mixture provides. From stage 15 onwards, the bore 14 then runs with a constant diameter to the free end 16 of the central tube 13 on the output side.
- a tubular catalyst 5 formed vertically away extending collar 21 which protrudes radially in the region of the arms 17, 18, 19 Fastening arms 22, 23, 24.
- the mounting arms 22, 23, 24 are with Provide holes 25, 26, 27, which by pins 28 protruding from the arms 17, 18, 19, 29, 30 are penetrated.
- the catalyst 5 is on the gas supply device 12 centered and held stationary.
- the attachment of the catalyst 5 on the gas supply device 12 takes place in that the pins 28, 29, 30 after they have drilled the holes 25, 26, 27 have penetrated according to FIGS. 1 to 3, are mechanically deformed in this way, that they create a positive connection like a rivet.
- the state is shown shortly before the deformation.
- the ends of the pins 28, 29, 30 are provided with inclined surfaces 63, 64, 65.
- the tube 3 is in cross section is essentially oval and has one from the inner wall 66 inwards to in Proximity of the catalyst 5 reaching, curved wall 35, one opposite the Catalytic converter 5 partially covers thermostats 36 that partially protect against heat radiation.
- the thermostat 36 and the wall 35 run in the longitudinal direction and parallel to the catalytic converter 5th
- a sheet metal strip provided with bends 67, 68 runs from the right 37, one section 69 of which extends to the level of the arms 17, 18, 19 and is angled there ends with an arrowhead 38.
- the pin 39 forms with the arrowhead 38 the ignition electrodes of the ignition device, over which, if, for example, sufficient voltage is not applied to the metal strip 37 one or more sparks overturn the pin 39.
- the sheet metal strip 37 is opposite the: gas supply device 12 and the housing parts of the curling iron 1 isolated.
- a bypass in the gas supply device 12 40 formed by a second cover consisting of a wire mesh 41 is limited to the outside.
- the second cover 41 describes how this is particularly so Fig. 4 clearly shows part of a hollow cylinder section; the surface of the Outlet opening of the bypass 40 is parallel, so it is equally curved.
- the bypass 40 has an inlet opening 42 and the outlet opening 43, the outlet opening 43 at the second cover 41 is adjacent.
- a transverse to the second cover 41, the 4 of the rim 45, 46 extends laterally away, the central axis 70 of the brim 44 simultaneously the central axis 70 of the second Cover 41 is.
- a cup-shaped first cover 47 adjoins the brim 44.
- the first cover 47 With its brim 44, the first cover 47 essentially forms a structure 62 with a Hat with border, however the brim 44 is cut in two places 48, 49 and this part, which forms the second cover 41, is perpendicular to the brim 44 downwards bent over the bending line 50 and thus forms a tab 61.
- the state is already the second, which is essentially rectangular in cross section Cover 41, that is, the tab 61, already at the edge 51 of the brim 44 radially outward to later the entire cross section of the outlet opening in the bent state 43 to cover.
- a cutout 54 on the surface of the Catalyst 5 was made on an enlarged scale to show that the wall of the catalyst 5 with many small openings 53, for example as a wire mesh through which the gas-air mixture enter the chamber 4 before the ignition process Can.
- the same applies to the first and second covers 47, 41, which form a single cover part 55 are summarized and in which the material is also lattice-shaped with small Passages 56 is formed.
- the cover part 55 is a stamped, bent and stamped part, preferably made of fine wire mesh.
- the first cover 47 has a cylindrical section 57, which is located on the outer diameter 58 of the free end 16 of the gas supply device 12 is centered.
- the covers disc-shaped section 59 adjoining cylindrical section 57 is the entrance opening 60 of the catalyst 5 in this area and the bore 14 completely, as shown in FIG. 1. Since the inlet opening 60 of the catalyst 5 is larger than that The outer diameter of the free end 16 of the central tube 13 creates an annular or outlet opening 71, via the gas-air mixture also into or out of space 52 of the catalyst 5 can occur.
- the operation of the catalytic gas burner for a curling iron or a hair curler 1 is as follows:
- a gas valve (not shown in the drawing) is rotatable on the base 6 or displaceably arranged valve actuating element (not shown) opened.
- Gas flows through the valve device via the gas cartridge, not shown in the drawing, mixes with air and then passes through one in the drawing in the base 6 trained channel (not shown) in the bore 14 of the gas supply device 12 and is accelerated there (tapered bore section 14 serves as a Venturi nozzle).
- the gas-air mixture now flows on the one hand through the disk-shaped section 59 into the Space 52 of the catalyst 5 and on the other hand also via the inlet opening 42 in the bypass 40 to the outlet opening 43 and from there into the surrounding the outer surface of the catalyst 5 Chamber 4.
- the explosion wave now proceeds from the ignition electrodes 38, 39 up to the Wire hairs 34, which due to their low mass are immediately made to glow, From there settles over the edge of the free end 31 of the catalyst 5 Annealing process continues until the entire catalyst 5 glows.
- Catalytic combustion has started and the combustion gases released by the combustion flow in the chamber 4 along and ultimately emerge as still hot gas from the passages 2 of the tube 3 outwards.
- the tube 3 heats up and after a short time is the curling iron 1 ready for operation, i.e.
- hair can be placed around the outer surface of the tube 3, which is then heated or even additionally by means of an evaporator device integrated in the curling iron (not shown) can be moistened to be durable in a quick manner To be able to form curls in the strands of hair.
- the gas-air permeability of the first and second covers 47, 41 is dimensioned such that a sufficiently large amount of gas-air mixture to the ignition electrodes in a particularly short time 38, 39 arrives. At the same time, a sufficient amount of gas and air gets into the Space 52 of the catalytic converter 5.
- This ratio of the gas-air mixture distribution must be well matched be coordinated to accelerate the explosion process on the one hand and to improve it in general and on the other hand in spite of the bypass 40 also to cause sufficient catalytic combustion in the catalyst 5. That in Operation via the bypass gas-air mixture then additionally supplies the chamber 4 with fuel to ensure a particularly uniform catalytic combustion even at the Obtain outer surface of the catalyst 5.
- the gas valve is closed again and the catalytic combustion is ended, i.e. the curling iron 1, but especially the tube 3, cool down again.
- the Lokken staff 1 can be put aside.
- an end cap (not shown). This can also be replaced by an evaporator device (not shown).
