Bei der Drehbewegung wird die Orientierung des Düsenkörpers 20 durch den Eingriff seines Zapfens 25 in die Kulisse 15 bestimmt. Das aus der Öffnung 22 austretende Wasser beschreibt eine Figur, die der Figur der Kulisse 15 geometrisch ähnlich ist. Beim Auftreffen auf einen Körper beschreibt der Wasserstrahl also eine geschlossene Linie, die in dem dargestellten Beispiel etwa einer Acht entspricht. Da die Öffnung 22 sich zwar in ihrer Winkelausrichtung ändert, ihre absolute Position aber kaum verändert wird, liegt der Wasserstrahl auf der Mantelfläche eines Kegels, der im dargestellten Beispiel kein Kreiskegel ist. Durch die Gestaltung der Kulisse 15 ist es möglich, unterschiedliche Formen des Kegels und damit der Linie, längs der der Wasserstrahl auf einer Fläche auftrifft, zu verwirklichen. Bei der dargestellten Ausführungsform liegt der Düsenkörper 20 mit seinem vorderen Abschnitt 21 auf dem Rand der Öffnung 27 an. Der Düsenkörper ist ein von der Kappe 26 getrenntes Teil. Es wäre auch denkbar, den Düsenkörper über ein Filmscharnier oder eine Membran mit einer Strahlscheibe so zu verbinden, dass der Düsenkörper nicht auf einer Öffnung aufliegt, sondern durch Verformung der Membran die durch die Führungsbahnen 15. vorgeschriebene Bewegung mitmachen kann.
