Definitions

  • the invention relates to a headlamp for vehicles with a cup-shaped reflector made of plastic, with a arranged inside the reflector light source and with a diaphragm which is arranged in the light exit direction after the light source is made of sheet metal and at least one support arm with one of two Having parts assembled free end portion which engages in a reflector opening and the taper and the reflector opening in the insertion direction of the end portion.
  • Such a headlamp for vehicles is known from EP 0 636 831.
  • the aperture of the headlamp is made in one piece from a sheet metal blank.
  • An annular diaphragm section of the diaphragm is arranged in the light exit direction after the light source and has an interface, from which a double support arm extends outwards.
  • the support arm has with its free end portion opposite to the light exit direction and is inserted into a reflector formed by a hollow cylinder of the reflector opening, which is closed to the back of the reflector out.
  • the doubled end portion of the support arm consists of cross-sectionally U-shaped sections, which lie with their side surfaces together and together form an outwardly open channel.
  • the U-shaped end portion digs when pressed into the reflector opening with sawtooth-shaped edges in the inside of the reflector opening. This creates fine chips that can deposit on the decorative reflection surface of the reflector and are disturbing to see through a smooth lens.
  • the support arm engages with the sawtooth edges of its end portion in a flattening of the inside of the reflector opening and is located at one of the Hollow cylinder of the reflector formed stop, so that the aperture assumes an exact position to the reflector after installation.
  • the end section of the double support arm is plate-shaped up to the free end of the end section.
  • a central portion of the doubled plate-shaped end portion forms a cavity, which is formed by two indented grooves.
  • the grooves or the cavity tapers in the insertion direction of the support arm.
  • the support arm is self-locking inserted into the reflector opening with the cavity having the end portion and securely held in this position by angled free ends on the back of the reflector in the reflector opening.
  • the reflector opening has, in accordance with the plate-shaped end section, a rectangular cross-section with an enlarged central section.
  • the aperture takes after their installation one and the same position to the optical axis of the reflector.
  • the reflector opening is disturbing because of its rectangular shape through a smooth lens.
  • the service life of the reflector tool decreases because of the narrow areas of the rectangular reflector opening.
  • the object of the invention is to make the described in the preamble of claim 1 headlights for vehicles such that the aperture is securely fixed in the reflector opening even if no material abrasion occurs during assembly of the aperture in the end portion of the support arm receiving reflector opening and Furthermore, the reflector opening of the size of the end portion used in the reflector opening can be adjusted and the aperture is aligned after its mounting to the optical axis of the reflector.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in that the end portion consists of two shells forming a cavity, the seams extend in the insertion direction, of which an interface from radially to formed inside edge portions and the other seam extends through a flattening of the hollow end portion to which a surface portion of the inner side of the reflector opening is adjacent.
  • edge portions are directed inwards at one seam and at the other seam, the end faces of the half-shells are blunt in front of each other, no abrasion can occur in the reflector opening. Due to the conical design of the lateral surface of the end portion a self-locking tight fit of the support arm is given in the reflector opening.
  • the conical end portion in the radial direction has a spring action, which is provided to compensate for tolerances. This effect is enhanced by the fact that the radially inwardly directed edge portions in the cross-sections through the hollow end portion are arcuate and with the edge regions of their inwardly directed faces under bias to each other.
  • the reflector opening is a passage opening, from the on the back of the reflector, the hollow end portion with at least one to the outer edge region of the reflector opening towards deformed free end protrudes, wherein the support arm rests with a directed in the insertion direction abutment surface on a stop surface of the reflector.
  • the conical end portion abuts in this position because of its radial spring force with a large bias on the inner surface of the tapered reflector opening.
  • the free ends are punched out of the end section in such a way that they lie against the edge region of the reflector opening after being bent under pretensioning.
  • the diaphragm and its support arm has a high rigidity when the diaphragm is integrally formed from a shaped sheet metal blank, which extends around the optical axis of the reflector around annular annular section having a seam, projecting from the edges of sheet metal sections to the outside and lie flat to form the support arm and continue the two half-shells of the hollow end portion extending into the flat abutting sheet sections, in the region of the doubled sheet metal sections taper together against the insertion and in go over the flat abutting sheet metal sections.
  • the conical end portion together with the doubled sheet metal section has a high rigidity.
  • the headlight shown in the drawing has a cup-shaped reflector 1 made of plastic with an introduced in the apex region of the reflector 1 opening for receiving a light source 2.
  • the light source 2 may be formed by an incandescent lamp or a gas discharge lamp.
  • a diaphragm 3 is arranged after the light source 2, which shields directly from the light source 2 and otherwise shields the oncoming traffic blinding light rays.
  • the diaphragm 3 has a concentric to the optical axis of the reflector 1 extending annular aperture portion 16.
  • the annular diaphragm section 16 has in the lower region an interface 17, from which, starting from a two plate-shaped sheet metal sections 18 doubled support arm 4 extends downwards.
  • the free end portion 5 of the support arm 4 merges into the plate-shaped sheet metal sections 18 and is formed by two half-shells 8, which form a conical tapering towards the free end of the support arm 4.
  • the conical end portion 5 extends in its longitudinal extent parallel to the optical axis of the reflector 1 and is inserted in the insertion direction 7 in a conical end portion 5 correspondingly executed conical reflector opening 6 of a hollow cylinder 20 of the reflector 1.
  • the hollow cylinder 20 protrudes from both the reflector front side and reflector back side.
  • the half-shells 8 forming the end section 5 extend down to the plate-shaped sheet-metal sections 18 and taper in the region of the sheet-metal sections 18 against the insertion direction 7.
  • the two half-shells 8 adjoin one another at an upper and lower seam 9 and 10, respectively.
  • At the near point 9 are radially inwardly directed arcuate edge portions 12 with their free edge to each other, wherein the end faces of the edge portions 12 extend in a plane.
  • the other seam 10 runs centrally through a flattening 11 of the end section, which bears against a correspondingly large flattening of the inside of the reflector opening 6.
  • the plate-shaped sheet metal sections 18 each have on opposite sides of the end section 5 a directed in the insertion direction contact surface 14 which abuts after insertion of a stop surface 15 formed by an end face of the hollow cylinder. Thereafter, the end portion 5 is biased against the inner surface of the reflector opening 6 and sits firmly self-clamping.
  • the end section 5 is always with a large clamping force on the inner surface of the reflector opening 6, since the end portion 12 is due to the inwardly bent edge portions 12 radially resiliently yielding.
  • the end portion 5 protrudes with its free end 13 on the back of the reflector 1 from the reflector opening 6 out.
  • the free end 13 is formed by two opposing lobes, which are bent in the opposite direction to the edge region of the reflector opening 6, rest against the edge region under prestress and secure the tight fit of the end section 5 in the reflector opening 6.
  • 13 ' the free ends 13 are shown before bending.
