Definitions
- the invention relates to a transfer adhesive tape which comprises a carrier tape and at least one layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive applied thereon and removable from the carrier tape.
- a variety of such tapes are known. They serve to apply a pressure sensitive adhesive film to a substrate to be bonded, the adhesive film detaching from the carrier tape. If the desired length of the film is applied to the substrate, this part of the film should separate cleanly from the film still adhering to the carrier tape, without an irregular tear-off edge being formed or the adhesive film pulling threads which, when torn, onto the substrate, the carrier tape or the Fold back the device containing the carrier tape and soil it.
- Transfer adhesive tapes of the type mentioned at the outset are known, for example, from European patent specification EP 0 543 184 B1 or the corresponding German patent application DE 41 37 936 A1 or German patent DE 39 25 130 C2.
- transfer strips are often used with hand-held devices for application to the substrate, in particular paper.
- Many different hand-held devices are known, the device according to EP 0 267 396 B2, for example, to be mentioned here.
- the devices can be used as single-use devices or as devices an interchangeable cassette can be used, which contains the transfer tape wound on a spool and a take-up spool for receiving the carrier tape separated from the adhesive film.
- Such a hand-held device with an exchangeable cassette is described, for example, in DE 36 44 946 C2.
- the pressure sensitive adhesive is designed as a hot melt adhesive, which is applied in a grid-like manner and has a base adhering to the substrate.
- the hotmelt adhesive is not present in a carrier system during coating.
- the ratio of the base area of a hot melt adhesive point to the height of the hot melt adhesive point is in the range from 5: 1 to 30: 1.
- the residue-free releasability from a siliconized backing paper is excluded.
- transfer tapes A variety of other uses beyond the self-adhesive labels are mentioned in this document, including transfer tapes. However, it is not known from this document that these transfer ribbons are in rolled up form.
- the invention has for its object to achieve a regular, clean and at the desired location separation of the adhesive film already adhering to the substrate from the adhesive film on the carrier tape in a transfer adhesive tape of the type mentioned, the adhesive disadvantages of an adhesive with low cohesion should be avoided.
- the separation of the adhesive film at the desired, defined location is achieved, on the one hand, by the transfer adhesive tape being provided for use in unwinding devices or, if it is used without these devices, already being in a rolled-up form, so that the curvature which results from this Separation of the adhesive film already adhering to the substrate is facilitated from the rest of the adhesive film.
- it will clean tear off of the adhesive film achieved by the property of the layer being discontinuous.
- discontinuous means that this is a layer which does not have the same thickness and the same composition at every point as is known in the case of the customary transfer adhesive tapes.
- the irregularity of the layer in accordance with the invention weakens it in certain places, so that the adhesive film tears off particularly easily here, provided that it is a coherent layer of adhesive.
- it can also be an adhesive layer consisting of a large number of non-contiguous surfaces, different patterns being possible.
- An example, which is particularly preferred, consists of a grid-shaped layer with a large number of adhesive points.
- the adhesive layer consists of a large number of non-contiguous surfaces.
- contiguous and non-contiguous surfaces are used in the sense of the mathematical topology.
- the clean tear off of the adhesive layer results from the separation of the layer between the non-contiguous surfaces.
- the non-contiguous surfaces can have a circular shape and, in particular, be point-shaped.
- the surfaces can also have the shape of polygons, especially rectangles. In both cases it is also suggested that the non-contiguous surfaces form a regular pattern.
- the adhesive layer is a coherent layer with weakened areas.
- the weakened areas can be designed as partial areas without adhesive, so that the weakening is brought about by the narrow webs between the larger adhesive areas.
- the weakened areas can also be designed as partial areas with a reduced layer thickness.
- the adhesive film is then preferably torn off in the areas of reduced layer thickness.
- the thickness of the layer in the weakened areas is preferably from 0% to 90% of the maximum layer thickness.
- the maximum thickness of the adhesive layer is 5 to 500 ⁇ m.
- This information applies to all different configurations of the adhesive layer of the transfer adhesive tape according to the invention.
- individual, mutually insulated adhesive areas can be provided on the carrier tape.
- the adhesive layer can also have an uneven thickness, so that "mountains” and “thaler” form.
- the elongation at break in the "valley” should be considerably lower than in a " Berg "The individual adhesive points or the” mountains "can be arranged in a grid pattern in a uniform grid, it also being possible for the individual points to form a superordinate pattern, as is proposed, for example, in the Swiss patent specification CH 673 078 A5
- the adhesive force can be controlled by the distance and the shape of the individual adhesive points
- the grid-shaped and preferably punctiform application of the hot melt adhesive forms a dome-shaped adhesive point, the base of which is connected to the carrier tape.
- a particularly high adhesive force and yet residue-free releasability, regardless of the release angle and speed can be obtained if a ratio of the base area of a hot-melt adhesive point to its height in the range from 5 1 to 30 1 and preferably 10 1 to 25 1 is maintained.
- the procedure according to the invention results in an adhesive force of, for example, 2.5 to 10 N / 25 mm reached
- the geometric shape of the grid can be different.
- the grid can also be composed not only of dots, but also of any surface, for example rectangles similar to a chocolate bar or of diamonds.
- the pattern also need not be uniform also have adhesive areas with different adhesive strengths.
- a plurality of adhesive layers can lie side by side and / or one above the other, at least one adhesive layer being discontinuous in the sense of this invention.
- pressure-sensitive adhesive generally means a permanent adhesive, which can be different types of adhesive, namely in particular a hot melt adhesive, a dispersion adhesive, a solvent-based adhesive or an adhesive to be applied as a paste to the carrier tape.
- the hot melt adhesive as such may contain additives, e.g. B. plasticizers, stabilizers or similar substances.

Description
Transferklebeband
