- the invention relates to a pneumatic crimper, designed for the semi-automatic installation of frame fasteners and more particularly of back frame fasteners.
- Pneumatic crimpers are thus known which essentially comprise a crimping head driven by a jack and capable of exerting pressure on the fastener positioned blindly on the crimping head to apply it to the back of the frame, itself in support on a support plate. It turns out that with known seamers, the positioning of the fastener on the head is not always easy since the crimping head occupies part of the work surface, the housing of the fastener does not being not easily visible.
- the Applicant has designed and developed a system which consists in positioning the clip, no longer on the crimping head, but on the support plate, and which consequently provides for temporarily erasing the end of the crimping head for easy access to the work surface and quick and correct positioning of the clip.
- the main object of the invention is therefore a pneumatic crimper for the fitting of frame fasteners comprising a crimping head with vertical movement controlled by jack for driving in a cardboard box, a fastener positioned on a profiled anvil located on a support plate, crimper according to which the crimping head is mounted so that it can be released from the positioning zone of the fastener on the support plate under the action of an operating mechanism.
- the crimping head is articulated in the upper part on a horizontal axis in order to be able to take a tilted position towards the rear of the machine under the action of a small cylinder, so that its lower end is moved away from the positioning area of the fastener on the support plate.

- the head 2 which develops vertically in the crimper, above the table, is articulated in the upper part around a horizontal axis 4. It can thus pivot, under the action of a small jack 5, between two positions: a first vertical position in which the end of the head is perpendicular to the fastener and a second inclined position where the head is tilted towards the rear of the machine and thus frees the positioning area of the fastener.

- the machine being ready to operate as shown in FIG. 1, the operator can introduce a fastener under the cover 5 and easily wedge it on the profiled anvil 6. He then slides the cardboard from the frame onto the support plate 1, and the positions using the strips 15 and the stops with which the plate is fitted.
- the operator then acts on a pneumatic pedal for controlling the machine, which initially has the effect of lowering the protective cover 3, the arms of which have pivoted thanks to the jack 8 (FIG. 2). Then the small jack 5 acts to tilt the crimping head 2 forwards, by pivoting about its axis 4. The end of the head is then plumb with the fastener, covered by the cardboard above the anvil 6. The crimping operation then takes place.
- the main cylinder 10 causes the connecting rod 11 to tilt, which causes the crimping head 2 to descend to the carton of the frame, exerting sufficient pressure to attach the fastener to the back of the carton. Any traces left by the crimping head on the cardboard are on one side non visible.
- the breaker 13 is a safety device ensuring the descent of the cover to authorize the actual crimping operation, in complete safety.
- the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above but also covers devices in which the crimping head is mounted so as to disengage, in any way whatsoever, outside the positioning zone of the attaches to the support plate, under the action of an appropriate operating mechanism.
