Definitions
- the present invention relates, in general, machines with multiple pistons, such as for example pumps or compressors, making it possible to set in motion or in pressure a hydraulic, gaseous, or even multiphase fluid.
- the invention relates to a multiple piston machine of the type comprising: a drive shaft; a plurality of cylinders; a plurality of pistons selectively driven by an alternating movement by the drive shaft and respectively housed in the cylinders to delimit, for a fluid set in motion by the machine, a corresponding plurality of chambers with variable volume each of which provides the fluid with a volume maximum determined and includes a low pressure inlet and a high pressure outlet; and a plurality of discharge channels connecting the high pressure outlets of the respective chambers to a discharge outlet of the machine, each discharge channel having a determined section and length, the movement of each piston causing vibratory excitation of the machine, determined fundamental frequency, and each chamber, in association with the piston which delimits it and with the delivery channel which connects it to the delivery outlet forming a corresponding module of the machine.
- Piston machines of this type are well known, in particular from patent document FR 2 655 690, and are widely used, in particular on motor vehicles for supplying power-assisted hydraulic circuits, such as ABS braking systems, automatic gearboxes, power steering or notably hydropneumatic suspensions.
- Patent document FR 2 551 505 describes, for example, a pumping system for liquid chromatography which aims to reduce instantaneous variations in flow and which can possibly obtain, at least as an incidental result, a certain reduction in operating noise. .
- Patent documents FR-1,546,997 and DE-196 41,779 describe piston machines for industrial use designed, principally, to have reduced operating noise.
- the basic principle used in these known machines consists in placing the cylinders in an irregular manner, so as to introduce an angular offset between the singular points of their respective operating cycles and to attenuate the resulting noise by phase shift between the various elementary noises emitted.
- the invention aims to propose a piston machine which exhibits a markedly improved vibratory behavior, without requiring major structural modifications compared to standard piston machines.
- the piston machine of the invention is essentially characterized in that it comprises at least a first spectral spreading means associated with a first pair of modules including a first pair of pistons, this first spectral spreading means being suitable for introducing , between the fundamental frequencies of the vibrational excitations resulting from the respective movements of the pistons of this first pair, a frequency offset at most equal to 10% of the fundamental frequency of the vibratory excitation resulting from the movement of any of the pistons of this first pair.
- the invention solves the problem of reducing noise thanks to a relatively modest modification of the frequencies emitted by the different modules.
- the first spectral spreading means comprises a difference between quantities respectively associated with the modules of the first pair of modules, each of these quantities being represented, for the associated module, by the ratio of the section of the discharge channel of this module to the product of the maximum volume of the chamber of this module by the length of the discharge channel of this module.
- the frequency offset introduced between the fundamental frequencies of the vibrational excitations resulting from the respective movements of the pistons of the first pair is advantageously at least equal to 1% of the fundamental frequency of the vibratory excitation resulting from the movement of the any of these pistons.
- the invention thus makes it possible to ensure that the pistons respectively delimiting the chambers of the modules of the first pair of modules are identical.
- the first spectral spreading means can for example comprise at least one difference between the maximum volumes of the respective chambers of the modules of the first pair of modules.
- the cylinders of the modules of the first pair of modules are different, and for example that they are machined so as to have different lengths or diameters, these differences being however preferably then provided outside the zones in which the pistons move, so that the latter can remain unchanged and identical.
- the cylinders of the modules of the first pair of modules can also be identical, at least one of these cylinders then being able to contain a solid filling block modifying the maximum volume of the chamber defined in this cylinder.
- Such a filling block is for example formed by a stack of several block elements all having the same volume and being made of a flexible material, such as polyurethane or a compressible elastomer.
- the machine of the invention can comprise as many spectral spreading means as pairs of modules comprising neighboring pistons, and even possibly as many spectral spreading means as there are modules.
- the cylinders can thus be arranged regularly with respect to the motor shaft.
- - Figure 1 is a sectional view of a piston machine of a type to which the invention is applicable; and - Figure 2 is an enlarged schematic view of a module of a machine according to the invention.
- the invention relates to a piston machine, which in this case constitutes a hydraulic pump, and which essentially comprises a drive shaft 1, cylinders such as 2a, 2b, pistons such as 3a, 3b defining in the cylinders chambers such as 4a, 4b, a discharge outlet 6 of the machine, and discharge channels such as 5a, 5b, connecting the chambers to the discharge outlet 6.
- the number of cylinders and pistons can be assumed to be any, and in particular even or odd, provided that it is at least equal to two, the assumption will be made that the machine piston may include at least one cylinder 2c, a piston 3c, a chamber 4c, and a discharge channel 5c in addition to those illustrated in Figure 1.
- the pistons 3a, 3b, 3c are at will driven by an alternating movement by the drive shaft 1 inside the cylinders 2a, 2b, 2c, for example by means of an eccentric 11, so that the chambers 4a , 4b, 4c have a variable volume between a minimum volume, as small as possible, and a maximum volume denoted Va, Vb, Vc for the chambers 4a, 4b, 4c.
- Each chamber such as 4a, 4b, 4c includes a low pressure inlet such as 40a, 40b, 40c, and a high pressure outlet such as 41a, 41b, 41c, connected to the discharge outlet 6 of the piston machine by the corresponding discharge channel 5a, 5b, 5c, at the end of which is installed an associated non-return valve 7a, 7b, 7c prohibiting a circulation of fluid from the outlet 6 of the piston machine towards the corresponding chamber.
- Each discharge channel such as 5a, 5b, 5c has a section Sa, Sb, Se and a length La, Lb, Le determined.
- Each chamber in association with the piston 3a, 3b, or 3c which delimits it in a cylinder such as 2a, 2b, or 2c, and in association with the discharge channel 5a, 5b, or 5c which connects this chamber to the discharge outlet 6, forms a corresponding module of the machine, such as the module 3a, 4a, 5a illustrated in FIG. 2.
- the chambers all have the same maximum volume V, and the delivery channels all have the same cross section S and the same length L.
- each piston 3a, 3b, 3c causes a vibratory excitation of the piston machine, whose fundamental frequency F is given by the relation:
- ⁇ is the compressibility coefficient of the pumped fluid
- p the specific mass of this fluid
- the total excitation exerted on the piston machine in one revolution of the motor shaft 1, and represented by the result of the excitations exerted by the movement of the different pistons, can thus reach, in the prior art, a considerable amplitude at the common excitation frequency F of the different modules of the piston machine.
- the invention provides a certain spectral spreading of the excitation frequencies of the different unit modules of the piston machine, obtained by introducing, for at least two different modules, for example 3a, 4a, 5a on the one hand and 3b, 4b, 5b on the other hand, a frequency shift ⁇ Fab between the fundamental frequencies Fa, Fb of the vibrational excitations caused by the pistons 3a and 3b of these two modules, that is to say by ensuring that these frequencies Fa and Fb are different.
- the frequency offset ⁇ Fab thus introduced is, according to the invention, chosen to be at most equal to 10% of the fundamental frequency Fa of the vibratory excitation resulting from the movement of any one of the pistons of these two modules, for example of the piston 3a.
- the frequency shift ⁇ Fab introduced between the fundamental frequencies Fa, Fb of the vibrational excitations caused by the respective pistons of two modules, such as 3a, 4a, 5a and 3b, 4b, 5b, is chosen to be at least equal to 1% of the fundamental frequency Fa of the vibratory excitation caused by the piston 3a of any one of these modules, and, optimally, to be of the order of 2% of this fundamental frequency Fa.
- each module such as 3a, 4a, 5a, or 3b, 4b, 5b, to define a corresponding quantity, such as Ga and Gb, given by:
- this quantity such as Ga or Gb is represented by the ratio of the section, Sa or Sb, of the discharge channel, 5a or 5b, of this module, to the product of the maximum volume, Va or Vb, of the chamber 4a or 4b of this module, by the length, La or Lb, of the discharge channel 5a or 5b of this module.
- the desired spectral spread between the fundamental frequencies Fa, Fb of the vibrational excitations respectively attributable to two modules such as 3a, 4a, 5a and 3b, 4b, 5b is obtained by ensuring that the magnitudes Ga and Gb respectively associated with these modules are different from each other, which can be obtained by introducing a difference either in the respective maximum volumes Va and Vb of the chambers of these modules, or in the respective sections Sa, Sb of the channels of delivery 5a, 5b of these modules, either in the respective lengths La, Lb of these delivery channels 5a, 5b, or even in several of these parameters at the same time, provided that the effects of such modifications relating to several parameters at the same time times do not compensate each other and that the magnitudes Ga and Gb are therefore very different from one another.
- the frequency offset intended to ensure the desired spectral spreading is introduced between the fundamental frequencies of the vibrational excitations caused by each pair of modules which include neighboring pistons.
- the piston machine comprises an even number of modules arranged in a circle, it is preferable to ensure that the excitation frequencies resulting from the operation of two neighboring modules are different, which can be achieved with a minimum of two different excitation frequencies.
- the frequency offset ⁇ Fab can be chosen to be typically of the order of 20 Hz.
- the cylinders such as 2a, 2b, 2c can be arranged in a regular manner relative to the motor shaft 1, and for example around the latter, instead of having to be distributed irregularly as is the case in patent documents FR - 1,546,997 and DE - 196 41,779 mentioned above.
- a simple way of implementing the invention may consist in introducing a difference, such as ⁇ Vab, between the maximum volumes, such as Va and Vb, of the chambers, such as 4a and 4b, of the different modules such as 3a, 4a, 5a and 3b, 4b, 5b.
- the first consisting in machining the cylinders, in which these chambers are defined, so that they are different from each other.
- the second way which is even more advantageous, consists in using identical cylinders, and in placing, in each of the cylinders of the modules whose fundamental frequency must be modified, a solid filling wedge, such as 8a (FIG. 2), which has the effect of modifying the maximum volume Va of the chamber 4a defined in this cylinder 2a.
- the filling wedge 8a is formed by a stack of several wedge elements of the same volume, such as 80a.
- this filling block 8a is advantageously made of a flexible material, such as polyurethane or a compressible elastomer.
