- the present invention relates to a riding helmet, commonly known as a bomb, usually including a shell rigid and a lining having an external face which adapts with the shell and an internal face intended to adapt to the skull of a user, usually a rider.
- Helmets of this type cause sweating the user, even if the trim consists of a thermally insulating material, such as, for example, expanded polystyrene. So far, no solution satisfactory has been found to resolve this problem.
- the present invention specifically relates to a helmet which solves this drawback.

- the helmet has a plurality of air inlets formed in the front part of the hull, each air inlet communicating directly with a hollow channel in the outer face of the gasket, a through hole being provided opposite each air inlet to bring the internal channel of the packing communication with air inlets.

The through holes 22 allow the admission of air entering through the inlet openings 12 towards the internal face of the shell, as shown by the arrows 24.

- air circulation channels 26 are hollowed out in the thickness of the lining 20, and on the external face of the latter.

- a through hole 30 is provided in look of each air outlet 16 of the lining 20. The function of these through holes 30 will be explained in reference to Figure 4.

- a single channel 32 is formed in the thickness of this lining.
- Channel 32 consists, on the one hand, of a zone 32a having an elongated shape arranged on the plane of symmetry P of the lining 20, symmetrically with respect to this plane.

- the channel 32 has two symmetrical arms 32b with respect to the plane P and which communicate with the holes of through circulation 30 formed opposite the air outlets 16 of hull 4.
- Air circulation in the helmet of the invention shown is as follows. Air enters through air inlets 12 provided in the hull 4. Part of the air admitted through the lining 20, as shown schematically by the arrows 24 (see Figure 6), this air is distributed in the area 32a between the lining 20 and the rider's skull, as shown schematically by the arrows 34 (see Figure 4). The air is evacuated by the two symmetrical arms 32b, as shown schematically by the arrows 36, then crosses the lining 20 passing by the holes 30 located at the end of the arms 32b, as shown schematically by the arrows 38, before being thrown out, as shown schematically by the arrows 40 (see Figure 2), by the air outlets 16 located opposite the through holes 30 trim 20.
- the air admitted by the air inlets 12 is partially distributes in each of the four channels 26 formed in the hollow in the outer wall of the lining 20.
- the channels 26 converge towards an end 44 located opposite air outlets 16 when the lining 20 is placed at inside the shell 4.
- the air circulates, according to the direction of the arrows 46, towards each of the two ends 44.
- a padding 50 for example foam-based, is provided for the interior of the lining 20.
- the padding 50 does not cover nor zone 32a into which the through holes open 22, nor the arms 32b by which the cooling air is evacuated to the through holes 30.
- a canvas ventilated constituted, for example, by a PVC net, is placed above area 32a and channels 32b. So, the cooling air can pass through the net 52 and circulate directly in contact with the rider's skull. We thus obtain very effective ventilation.
