Description

The present invention relates to movements for wristwatch with display by needles, and more particularly those of the type with complications. Complicated movements are movements that display functions other than the date, which are usually the date, the day, the hour, the minute and the second. This is particularly the case of watches known as the chronograph and which make it possible to start a time counter at a given moment and to stop it, to restart it or to reset it at any time .

The watches made using these movements comprise, in a conventional manner, a display of the hour and minute of the current time by means of needles arranged in the center of the dial. The seconds hand of the chronograph is concentric to them. Other information is displayed by means of needles. This is usually the second of the current time, the minute and the timed time. They are displayed by means of small needles whose pivot axis is generally at a distance from the central axis substantially equal to half the radius of the dial. If the dial is not round, this distance is substantially equal to half the radius of a circle inscribed in the periphery of the dial.

The dial of the watch thus comprises up to four small dials arranged generally at noon, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. Watches of this type are illustrated on pages 283 and 285 of the catalog of selected works of the International Watchmaking Museum, La Chaux-de-Fonds 1999 ISBN 2-940088-07-1. It can be seen that practically all the apparent surface is occupied by the display of the different functions. This results in a heaviness that affects the aesthetics of the watch.

Moreover, the reading of the displayed information requires very particular attention, since the eye must make a turning movement to read the four small needles.

The object of the present invention is to allow the production of watches with a large number of complications, providing a display whose reading is pleasant and avoids overloading the dial.

The wristwatch movement according to the invention is therefore a needle display, comprising mobiles, intended to receive hour and minute hands of the current time, mounted to pivot about a first axis disposed substantially at the center of the movement and four mobiles for receiving needles to display complementary functions.

It is characterized in that the four mobiles are mounted pivoting on the movement about second, third, fourth and fifth axes arranged on a line perpendicular thereto, the second and fifth axes forming with the first axis the vertices of a triangle. isosceles whose base rests on said straight line, the apex angle being between 120 ° and 180 °.

It has certainly already been represented by clockwork trees aligned on a straight line. Thus, the document EP-A-0 389 440 has a watch movement block diagram with four hands. In this diagram, the needles are represented on a line. On the other hand, in the figure representing the watch in its structure, the axes of the shafts carrying the needles are arranged concentrically in the center of the movement.

The document US-A-5,739,647 relates to a transducer for equipping a watch and having several rotors, some embodiments showing them aligned. The workings driven by these rotors are, however, not represented.

Advantageously, the line passing through the second to fifth axes is disposed below a line passing from 3 to 9 hours, by the center of the movement.

L'expérience a montré que, de manière avantageuse, l'angle au sommet est sensiblement égal à 140°.Experience has shown that, advantageously, the apex angle is substantially equal to 140 °.

A particularly attractive solution relates to a movement of the chronograph type, which comprises a mobile intended to carry a second hand of concentric timed time to the hour and minute hands. Of the four mobiles whose axes are arranged in line, three of them are intended to display respectively the minute and hour of the timed time and the second of the current time. The fourth mobile can be intended to display the 24 hours of the day.

It is well known that the construction and industrialization of a watch movement, and even more so of a chronograph, requires a large investment of time and money. Also, to allow a rapid and economical application of the object of the invention, it is advantageous that the movement comprises a plate intended to carry its various components and that the four mobiles, whose axes are aligned, are arranged on a module, itself mounted on the plate, each of the four mobiles being kinematically connected to a mobile pivoting in the plate.

  1. 1. La figure 1 représente une montre munie d'un mouvement selon l'invention;
Other advantages and features of the invention will emerge from the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawing, in which:
  1. 1. The figure 1 represents a watch provided with a movement according to the invention;
  2. 2. The Figures 2 and 3 are respectively side and top views of the movement according to the invention; and
  3. 3. The Figures 4 to 7 show, in section, the wheels specific to this movement.

The watch, represented in figure 1 , is chronograph type. It comprises, in a conventional manner, a box 10 inside which is housed a movement 12, not visible on the figure 1 and which will only be described with reference to Figures 2 and 3 .

Les aiguilles des heures 16 et des minutes 20 sont disposées au centre du cadran 14 et tournent autour d'un axe A-A perpendiculaire au plan de la feuille sur la figure 1.The movement carries a dial 14 in front of which are arranged needles for the display of the current hourly information, namely an hour hand 16 performing a turn in 12 hours, an hour hand 18 performing a turn in 24 hours, a minute hand 20 and a second hand 22. This display is completed by the indication of the date 24, which appears through a window 26 practiced at noon in the dial 14. The hour hands 16 and minutes 20 are arranged at the center of the dial 14 and rotate about an axis AA perpendicular to the plane of the sheet on the figure 1 .

The watch further comprises three chronograph hands 27, 28 and 30, respectively displaying the seconds, minutes and hours of the timed times.

To ensure the control of the watch, the user has a ring 32, placed at 3 o'clock and which ensures the time setting and, in mechanical watches, the winding of the mainspring. In addition, two pushers 34 and 36, respectively arranged at 2 and 4 hours, allow, in a conventional manner, the control of the functions of the chronograph.

As is very clearly shown figure 1 , the needles 28, 30, 18 and 22 pivot respectively about axes BB, CC, DD and EE which, on the figure 1 , are perpendicular to the plane of the drawing and arranged in line, so that it It is possible to pass a line XX by the points of intersection B, C, D, E of these axes with the plane of the drawing. Moreover, if we connect the extreme points B and E, corresponding to the axes BB and EE, with the point A corresponding to the axis AA, we define an isosceles triangle whose angle at the vertex A is substantially equal to 140 °. This solution allows a completely readable display while giving the dial a certain "seating" aesthetic due to the fact that the graphic structures arranged on the dial and defining the scales of the needles 28, 30, 18 and 22, are arranged below the axis AA, substantially on a line passing between 3 ½ hours and 8 ½ hours.

These aesthetic considerations are particularly valid for watches with a round dial. By using a box and a dial having a different shape, the problem may arise in other words. It has been found, however, that in most cases the apex angle is between 120 and 180 °.

In other words, as soon as the axes BB and EE exceed sectors defined by the lines connecting 4 hours to 10 hours on the one hand, and 2 hours to 8 hours on the other hand, the available space decreases by such that the displays are too small to allow reading under favorable conditions.

To understand how it is possible to make a display with the characteristics listed above, we must refer to Figures 2 to 7 which represent the essential parts of the movement 12 in connection with the invention.

A.The movement 12 comprises a plate 38 on which most of the components of the watch are mounted, in particular at its center, a chronograph seconds pinion 40, a roadway 42 and a gun wheel 44. three mobiles, which carry respectively the needles 26, 20 and 16 pivot about the axis AA.

Three other mobiles, each equipped with a tigeron identified by the letter a , and a reference wheel identified by the letter b, respectively bearing the references 46, 48 and 50 respectively perform a lap in 30 minutes timed, 12 hours of time and 60 seconds of current time ( figure 3 ).

The module 52 carries, interposed between the plate 54 and the bridge 56, three gear wheels 58, 60 and 62 and a gear wheel 64.

La roue 58b comporte un tigeron 58c destiné à recevoir l'aiguille des minutes de temps chronométré 28.The gear train 58, shown in section on the figure 5 is engaged with the return wheel 46b. It comprises a reference 58a and a wheel 58b, the latter having the same number of teeth as the wheel 46b, so that the wheel 58b rotates in the same direction and at the same speed as the wheel 46b. The wheel 58b includes a rod 58c intended to receive the minute hand of timed time 28.

La roue 60b comporte un tigeron 60c destiné à recevoir l'aiguille des heures de temps chronométré 30.The gear train 60, shown in section on the figure 6 is engaged with the return wheel 48b. It comprises a reference 60a and a wheel 60b, the latter having the same number of teeth as the wheel 48b, so that the wheel 60b rotates in the same direction and at the same speed as the wheel 48b. The wheel 60b includes a tigger 60c for receiving the hour hand of timed time 30.

La roue 62b comporte un tigeron 62c destiné à recevoir l'aiguille des secondes de temps courant 22.The gear train 62, shown in section on the figure 7 is engaged with the return wheel 50b. Finally, the gear train 64, shown in section on the figure 4 , it meshes with a pinion 44a of the gun wheel 44. It comprises a return 64a and a wheel 64b whose number of teeth is twice that of the pinion 44a, so that the wheel 64b rotates in the same direction and two time more slowly than the barrel wheel, that is to say that the hour hand 16. The wheel 64b has a rod 64c for receiving the hour hand of current time 18, making a turn in 24 hours .

As can be seen especially in the figure 2 the pivot axes B, C, D and E of the wheels 58b, 60b, 64b and 62b are arranged in this order on the horizontal line X - X, which is slightly downward with respect to the center of the movement.

The module 52 is positioned, in a conventional manner, by means of feet 66 integral with the base plate and engaged in holes in the plate 38. It is fixed, for example by means of screws, which have not been represented at drawing.

It is understood that the movement according to the invention can be the subject of numerous variants without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims. Thus, the four aligned mobiles could carry needles ensuring the display of functions other than those described.

It would also be possible to place vertically the line on which the four axes are aligned, for example for the countries in which the reading is done from top to bottom.
