Description

The present invention relates to a decorative object and its manufacturing process.

By decorative objects is meant, according to the present invention, objects with purely aesthetic effect, such as statues, high-reliefs and similar objects, as well as objects with aesthetic effect having a technical function, such as elements of construction, such as walls, walls, ceilings, vaults, and the like, or furnishings, such as seats, couches, etc.

It is known to fashion materials by size, molding or other methods to give them a decorative or aesthetic effect. It is also known, for making such objects, to support the material which is the object by an internal frame, invisible or only partially visible from the outside.

When producing large objects, the artist or the decorator sees his possibilities of imagination limited by the weight of the object and the necessities of transport.

It is also known to make decorative objects, such as sculptures, by a simple frame, for example metallic, the observer can, if he wishes, recompose by imagination the complete body of the object shown.

US-A-5528876 et 5687522).Also known are wall structures for constructions having a perforated framework in which concrete is poured (see US-A-5528876 and 5687522).

The present invention aims to provide decorative objects of new design and therefore unexpected aesthetic effect, while allowing a simple, inexpensive, and often relatively fast manufacture of the object, even in the case of heavy objects and large dimensions. Advantageously, the present invention provides also the realization of identical objects in a repetitive manner, possibly on an industrial scale.

This problem is solved according to the invention by a decorative object, comprising a support frame delimiting an internal volume and having openings, and individual blocks of filling material which at least partially fill the internal volume, and which do not hold. one to the other, the blocks and the frame being simultaneously visible from the outside.

The support frame of the object is, in this case, external and is visible from the outside, that is to say, it participates in the decorative effect. On the other hand, the body of the object is formed of individual blocks, which do not hold to one another and which are therefore easily manipulated and transportable. Due to the openings in the framework, the blocks of the filling material also participate in the decorative effect. This allows to play on two different materials, the frame and the blocks, by contrast effects or marriages of colors for example.

According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the support frame is formed of rod-shaped elements connected to each other so as to retain the blocks of the filling material at least partially in the volume. internally and to allow a total vision of the blocks from the outside. The framework can thus have large area openings with respect to thin-section retaining rods, which allows a near total vision of the filling blocks from the outside. If the blocks themselves are made of decorative blocks in themselves, the effect can be surprising.

On the other hand, advantageously the rod-shaped elements are according to the invention shaped so as to closely match the shape of the block or blocks retained by them. The framework can also be applied closely to the blocks while leaving some of them protruding out of the framework and imposing on the filler blocks a general shape in which they are retained. Advantageously, in some cases, some blocks are supported individually by the support frame, without necessarily supporting other blocks.

As materials for the blocks, one can consider among other blocks of stone, plastic, metal, glass, wood, etc ... Depending on the desired effect, the blocks can be in one and the same material or be in different materials. Their colors may be the same or different. The blocks can be isolated in weight, such as stone blocks for example, or light, such as blocks of synthetic material expanded. The blocks can have an identical or different shape, they can have a regular or irregular shape.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the support frame is made of a rigid material which does not deform under the weight of the filler blocks. It is therefore the framework that gives the object the general shape of the base, and the blocks by their weight do not cause even partial deflection of the internal volume formed by the framework.

As frame elements, it is possible for example to provide metal rods, in particular stainless steel, brass, copper, etc ..., wood, rigid plastic, glass, etc ... The Stainless steel is preferred because of its great ease of hot deformation and the particularly easy welding of, for example, previously deformed steel rods in a manner adapted to the blocks to be supported. Stainless steel also has the great advantage of good weather resistance.

Other embodiments of decorative objects according to the invention are indicated in the appended claims, as well as their method of manufacture.

Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, of some nonlimiting exemplary embodiments.

Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a decorative object according to the invention.

Figures 2 and 3 show the steps of a method of manufacturing a decorative object according to the invention.

In the various drawings, identical or similar elements are designated by the same references.

In Figure 1, there is shown a decorative object of the statue type, which is large, about 2 m high and 1 m wide. As you can see, this statue represents an animal, the kangaroo. The support frame 1 is formed of rods 2 which, in the example shown, are made of stainless steel. These rods 2 are welded to each other for example at 3 so as to form an external skeleton visible from the outside, and defining an internal volume. In some cases, some rods may form sleepers 4, which pass through the internal volume and are welded to rods 2 forming the support frame, to further stiffen the shape of the support frame.

Inside this framework 1 are supported blocks 5 of a filling material, which in this case is stone. The stones are chosen according to their shape, their color and their dimensions. One can for example provide the use of blue stones, tufa, French stone, marble, sandstone, etc ... and possibly mix them.

As can be seen, if some blocks are completely trapped in the internal volume formed by the support frame 1, such as the block 6, other blocks, for example the block 7 is arranged to partially project in outside the framework. The support frame thus has a function of support and block retention, and a decorative function in itself, but not that of delimiting a volume that the filling blocks can not exceed. On the contrary, some blocks are supported and held almost alone by the support frame so that most of their own volume is outside the internal volume defined by the framework, such as blocks 8 and 9 This mutual arrangement between the framework and the blocks allows a very great flexibility in the decorative or aesthetic effect that can be obtained.

As can be seen, the rods 2 are of small section, of the order of cm, while the openings made between them have sides rather of the order of the dm or more. This allows an almost complete vision of the blocks inside the framework. The rods are shaped to fit the shape of the blocks they hold, and their rigidity is sufficient to not be deformed by the weight of the blocks they support.

To build such a statue, one can proceed as follows. The base blocks 10 of the statue are placed on the ground, and they are partially wrapped by steel rods. These are heat distorted to fit the shape of the basic blocks and thus to wrap them. These rods are then welded to each other so as to form a skeleton start. Then blocks are stacked on the base blocks and are in turn wrapped with rods which, after possible conformation to adjacent blocks, are welded to the beginning of already existing framework, and so on.

Figures 2 and 3, there is shown the different steps of construction of a wall with a vaulted bay.

The first step is to make a prefabricated support frame 19, formed of several parts that can be assembled later.

In the example shown, the frame 19 comprises two parts, a first receptacle-shaped part 11 which here consists of longitudinal bars 12, side bars 13, and arched bars 14, as well as transverse bars 15, forming together a frame. The bars of the frames are connected by an interlacing of rods 16 of various shapes, which have interstices between them 20. The bars and rods are in the example shown in a synthetic material which has been molded in the form shown.

It can of course be provided that this receptacle 11 is itself formed of several parts, for example that each side of the receptacle is prefabricated independently and that the sides are assembled by means common on site.

Once the receptacle is put in place, it can be filled with blocks, in the illustrated example of blocks 17 of glass or vitreous material with disparate shapes. The receptacle is then closed by the second part of the framework, by a cover 18, shown only in broken form in FIG. 3. The cover 18 is then connected to the receptacle 11 by any appropriate known means. The fasteners between the different parts of the receptacle or between the different rods of the statue of the example illustrated in FIG. 1 can also be done by means other than welding, and it is possible to envisage, for example, brazing, tying when the rods are of flexible material, such as brass or copper, bolting, and any other similar known method.

It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the appended claims.

One can for example consider introducing into the frame a hollow object not visible from the outside to lighten the decorative object formed.
