Abstract

The invention relates to a screw-type cap (19) having a sealing lip (19) with a base part (29) placed laterally in at least one thin part of the cap bottom (3). Whenever the cap bottom (3) bulges as a result of excess pressure in the bottle (13), the end of said sealing lip is pulled outwardly and said base part (29) is pulled inwardly. Tilting of the sealing lip (19) over the contact area in the neck (11) reduces the pressure force applied by the cap membrane (37) on said neck (11) and allows for a reduction of the excess pressure.

Description

The invention relates to a screw cap Plastic for screwing onto a thread on one Bottle neck of a bottle according to the generic term of Claim 1.

When storing and transporting carbonated products Liquids and especially fruit juices, which in the bottle after filling or after first opening there is a latent fermentation Risk of pressure inside the bottle in such a way Mass increases that the bottle, be it a glass or Plastic bottle, bursts and serious injuries or can cause damage to property. It is for this reason attempts have already been made for the Closure of bottles used screw caps To provide plastic with a blow-off device, which when a predetermined pressure in the Blow off the inside of the bottle.

From DE-C1 42 41 341 it is known that Sealing membrane in a bottle cap above the Edge of the bottle opening over a circumferential support annular rib. This support rib is with the cap bottom or the sealing membrane in such a way coupled that by overpressure within the sealed bottle of conditional bulge of the Cap base or the one lying against the cap base Lifting the sealing washer or sealing membrane the same from the edge of the bottle opening and thus one automatic venting of the bottle interior allowed. Furthermore, a screw cap is made from DE-A1 198 47 001 Plastic known for closing a bottle, which works without a sealing membrane. Inside the Screw cap is a sealing lip with a conical one Sealing surface arranged when screwed on Screw cap on an outer sealing edge of the circular end face of the mouth of the bottle is applied. There are recesses in the conical sealing surface provided that it extends from an area at screwed screw cap just outside the Sealing edge lies, extend to the edge of the sealing lip and communicate with the environment. With dome-shaped Bulge the bottom of the screw cap when increasing the The sealing lip slides with its sealing surface under internal pressure on the sealing edge. As soon as the pressure in the bottle and so that the bulge of the floor is big enough the recesses in the area of the sealing edge and create a passage for the gases from inside Bottle to the environment so that excess pressure can escape.

Both known screw caps make this possible Blow off if the internal pressure of the bottle is too high. Indeed is the range of the time of the blowdown and so the pressure is also very high. This only results in one limited and therefore insufficient security for the User.

The object of the present invention is a Screw cap to create the blow off Overpressure within a narrow pressure range allows.

This task is solved by a screw cap with the features of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are in the dependent claims defined.

The mouth of the bottle is partly on the Face area and partly the outer one Circumferential sealing lip and one in between arranged elastically deformable sealing membrane Blow-off time or blow-off pressure is sufficiently precise pretend. By connecting the Root of the sealing lip on the bottom of the screw cap can be Relative movement to the bottle neck during bulging of the cap base due to increased pressure in the bottle be predetermined.

The segmentation of the Sealing lip. The segmentation can, depending on Requirement for the sealing lip, in n circle segments with minimal tangential distances or with Spaces that are the same or larger Have length like the lengths of the segments of Sealing lip.

By using the elastic restoring force of the Cap bottom (energy storage element) becomes the tight Reseal the bottle after the desired one Pressure drop reached.

The screw cap shown in Figures 1 to 6 1 comprises a closure base 3 and one thereon subsequent, essentially cylindrical Closure jacket 5, on the inside of which threaded sections 7 are formed. On the outside of the Closure jacket 5 can ribs 9 or the like be provided, which the removal of the closure from Lighten the neck 11 of a bottle 13 (Figures 3 to 5). On the lower edge 14 of the screw cap 1 can in a tamper-evident ring 16 be injected.

In the area above the threaded sections 7, the closure jacket 5 has a cylindrical section 15 on the inside, to which a second section 17, which extends in the shape of an arc or a straight line inwards, connects and forms the connection area to the closure bottom. In the area of the arcuate or straight second section 17, the thickness of the wall of the screw cap 1 decreases. It is considerably smaller than in the area of the bottom 3. A sealing lip 19 adjoins the second section 17, the peripheral surface 21 of which runs essentially cylindrical in the unloaded state and can partially lie opposite the section 15 in parallel. The sealing lip 19 extends from the apex S 2 of the groove 22 formed by the section 15 and the periphery 21 to a height h 1 into the inside of the screw cap 1 to the edge 24 of the sealing lip 19. From there, the inside flank 23 of the sealing lip 19 starts initially essentially parallel to the periphery 21 and then passes into a step P functioning as a drying edge, which leads to a thickening and gives the sealing lip 19 up to its root 29 a higher rigidity. The stage P is at the height h 2 (FIG. 1). The radially inner flank 25 of the sealing lip 19 adjoining the step P extends radially slightly inwardly inclined up to the height h 3 and ends there at the apex S 1 (cf. FIG. 1). The sealing lip 19 can form a circumferential ring (Figures 1 and 2) or can be divided into a plurality of circular ring segments (Figure 6).

When the sealing lip 19 is divided into segments 19 ' different versions are possible: on the one hand can the circumferential sealing lip 19 only through incisions 19 '' be divided into several segments 19 '(left half of the Figure 6), on the other hand, between the segments 19 ' Distances are formed, the length A of the length B of the Corresponds to segments 19 'or larger (right half of Figure 6). In preferred embodiments include the segments 19 'and the distances each 60 degrees or 45 degrees each.

The reduction in the thickness of the base 3 in the region of at least the apex S 1 forms an elastic zone which, when the base 3 bulges out, causes a relative movement of the sealing lip 19 to be described later. The second downward wall 27 of the groove-shaped space 28 under the apex S 1 ends approximately at the height h 2 and forms the outer flank of a rib-shaped spacer 31 which comes to rest over the end face 33 of the bottle neck 11 when the screw cap 1 is open the bottle 13 is placed. A further elastic spacer 35 can be arranged in a rib-shaped manner concentric with the spacer 31. The closure base 3 can also have a circumferential groove 36 on the side of the radially inner spacer 35, which leads to a local reduction in the thickness of the closure base.

A disk-shaped sealing or sealing membrane 37 made of soft plastic, also called a liner, is held loosely above the thread sections 7 near the bottom and at a distance from the apexes of the sealing lip 19 and the spacers 31 and 35. The thickness d 1 of the sealing membrane 37 is preferably between the periphery and the contact area with the elastic spacer 35 is greater than the thickness d 2 in the central area. Alternatively, it is possible to design the closure membrane 37 as an annular surface which extends essentially from the thread 7 to radially inside the inner spacer 35. The periphery 38 of the closure membrane 37 lies outside the peripheral surface 21 of the sealing lip 19, so that the apex 24 of the latter abuts the closure membrane 37 in a line for a short time before the screw closure 1 is screwed onto the bottle neck 11.

When screwing the screw cap 1 onto the neck 11 of the bottle 13 displaces the end face 33 on Bottle neck 11 and in particular its peripheral edge 39 the sealing lip 19 radially outwards. The step-shaped area of the sealing lip 19 in essentially filled by the sealing membrane 37. The same applies to the space between the two Spacers 31 and 35 and partially the annular space 28 between the sealing lip 19 and the outside Spacer 31 too (see FIG. 3). The peripheral area the sealing membrane 37 is around the edge 39 of the Bottle neck 11 bent down around. In this The screw cap 1 ensures the condition with the closure membrane 37 pressed onto the bottle neck 11 normal pressure conditions a perfect and tight closure of the bottle 13 with a large one Contact area.

Figur 5).If the pressure inside the bottle 13 now rises above a predetermined level as a result of fermentation or excessive heating of the bottle contents, this leads to a domed bulging of the closure base 3 (FIG. 4). The arching of the closure base 3 is additionally promoted by the at least one annular thin point of the cap base 3 in the region of the apex S 1 of the incision or space 28 between the sealing lip 19 and the spacer 31. This means that the sealing lip 19 itself moves slightly axially upwards when the base 3 bulges out and there is a radially inward displacement of the point Q in the root region 29. This causes the sealing lip 19 to tilt about the point P at the step 23. As a result of this movement of the sealing lip 19, its end 24, located at h 1 , lifts radially outward and also allows the sealing membrane 37 clamped between the sealing lip 19 and the bottle neck 11 to move outwards and upwards. This translational movement reduces the pressure of the sealing lip 19 on the edge region 39 of the bottle neck 11. By simultaneously lifting the two spacers 31 and 35, the pressure of the closure membrane 37 on the central region of the end face 33 of the bottle neck 11 is also reduced and enables this Blowing off gas and thereby reducing the overpressure inside the bottle. The blowing off is additionally promoted by the deflection of the sealing membrane 37 into the space between the sealing lip 19 and the spacer 31 (cf. FIG. 5).

As soon as the pressure inside the bottle 13 subsides, the curvature of the closure base 3 and the Bottle 13 is through the screw cap 1 again properly sealed.
