Definitions
- the invention relates to a cartridge piston according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Cartridge pistons are usually made of a soft plastic, for example LDPE, in order to achieve the required sealing effect towards the cartridge wall.
- LDPE low density polyethylene
- Cartridge pistons are only partially resistant to certain materials forming the contents of the cartridge and, moreover, are not sufficiently diffusion-tight.
- the plastic LDPE is attacked by polyester resins and swells.
- cover disc made of polyamide for example, is arranged on the top of the piston, since polyamide is resistant to the pre-naive materials and also diffusion-tight.
- cover plates can be flat or profiled according to the cross-sectional shape of the piston surface. In both cases, such cover disks are sealing against the cartridge wall.
- the known pistons have on their area facing the cartridge wall a cross-sectionally V-shaped annular groove, the outer edge of which is designed as a sealing lip. If the contents of the cartridge are pressed out of the cartridge by pressing the piston, the cartridge bulges. At the same time, however, the pressure acting on the contents of the cartridge causes the outer leg of the V-shaped groove and thus the sealing lip to be pressed against the cartridge wall.
- the object is to design the cartridge piston in such a way that, on the one hand, the piston is protected from the influence of the cartridge content and, on the other hand, the sealing function of the piston is ensured even when the cartridge bulges.
- Figure 1 shows a section through a piston for an egg component cartridge
- Figure 2 shows a section through an annular piston for a coaxial cartridge according to a first embodiment
- Figure 3 shows an edge section through the piston and the cover plate
- FIG. 4a shows a section through an annular piston according to a second embodiment when it is introduced into a coaxial cartridge with a central inner tube;
- Figure 4b shows a section through the ring piston of Figure 4a when inserted into a cartridge with an eccentric inner tube
- FIG. 5a shows a section through an annular piston according to a third embodiment when it is introduced into a coaxial cartridge with a central inner tube and
- FIG. 5b shows a section through the annular piston of FIG. 5a when it is introduced into a coaxial cartridge with an eccentric inner tube.
- the piston 1 according to FIG. 1 consists, for example, of polyethylene, preferably of LDPE. On its upper side, this piston 1 has an annular groove 2 which is V-shaped in cross section. At the end of the outer leg 13 of the groove 2, a flexible sealing lip 3 is provided. The piston has a locking bore 4 in the center. Spacer knobs 6 are formed on the piston surface 5. In the area of the groove base 7, a circumferential locking projection 8 is integrally formed on the inside of the leg 13 of the groove 2 facing outwards.
- the cover disk 9 has a locking pin 10 in the center, which is locked with the locking bore 4. Due to the spacer knobs 6, the cover 9 runs in slight distance from the piston surface 5.
- the outer edge of the cover plate 9 is angled in an L-shape towards the groove base 7, the bend 11 having a circumferential locking lug 12 at its lower end.
- the locking lug 12 is locked with the locking projection 8 in a liquid-tight and gas-tight manner.
- the outer leg 13 with the sealing lip 3 is probably exposed to the contents of the cartridge, but this is not harmful since, due to the material, only widening can take place here.
- the remaining areas of the piston 1 are in any case protected from the contents of the cartridge. If the cartridge wall bulges as a result of the pressure acting on the cartridge content, then at the same time this leg swings outwards as a result of the pressure acting on the inside of the leg 13, so that the sealing lip 3 is pressed against the inside wall of the cartridge.
- the cover plate 9 can be provided with a plurality of bores 14.
- a ventilation channel can be provided between the locking pin 10 and the locking bore 4. This ventilation duct is obtained if, for example, the locking bore has a cross-section deviating from the circular shape.
- the air in the cartridge can thus flow out through a pressure on the piston 1 via the bores 14, the gap between the cover plate 9 and the piston surface 5 via the aforementioned ventilation channel.
- FIG. 2 shows an annular piston for a coaxial cartridge.
- the outer peripheral region 15 of the piston 1A is of the same design as described with reference to FIG. 1.
- a circumferential V-shaped groove 20 is also provided, the inner leg 23 of which has a sealing lip 21 at its end.
- the cover disk 9A also has a circumferential V-shaped groove 24 on its inner circumference, which, however, is arranged in mirror image to the groove 20 of the piston 1A.
- the inner elastic leg 25 of the groove 24 ends in a sealing lip 26, which comes into contact with the inner wall of the outer cartridge chamber 27.
- the piston has a locking pin 29 on which the cover plate 22 is clipped.
- the piston For venting, the piston has a pocket 30 which is open at the bottom via a bore 31. A porous filter 32 is inserted into this pocket. The cartridge can thus be vented through the bores 14, the gap between the piston surface 5 and the cover plate 9A via the filter 32 and the bore 31.
- the inner elastic leg 25 facilitates the insertion of the piston 1 A into the annular chamber 27 due to its inclined position.
- FIG. 3 Another venting option that replaces the bores 14 is shown in FIG. 3.
- the cover plate 9 has, along the inside of the pivot 11, vertically extending ventilation channels 33 which extend over the lower edge of the bend and over the circumferential locking lug 12. In this case, the air escapes via the channels 33, the gap between the piston surface 5 and the cover plate 9 or 9A and the ventilation channel or the filter.
- annular piston 1A for a coaxial cartridge with an outer tube 34 and an inner tube 35 shown in FIGS. 4a and 4b there is a V-shaped annular groove 2 and a radially outer flexible sealing lip 3 for contacting the inner wall 36 on the outer peripheral region of the piston 1A of the outer tube 34 is provided.
- the L-shaped outer edge of a cover plate 9A which is angled downward, is arranged as in the embodiment of FIG. 2 and is held there by a corresponding latching connection.
- a circumferential V-shaped groove 20 with a radially inner sealing lip 21 on an inner leg 23 is also provided on the inner peripheral region of the annular piston 1A.
- the inner sealing lip 21 is set back in relation to the outer sealing lip 3 in the axial direction by a few millimeters such that when inserting the annular piston 1A into the cartridge, the outer sealing lip 3 first comes to rest on the inner wall 36 of the outer tube 35 and the inner sealing lip 21 only touches the inner tube 35 when the annular piston 1A is inserted a few millimeters into the cartridge.
- the forces for inserting the annular piston 1 A into the cartridge are considerably reduced compared to those designs in which the piston contacts the outer tube and the inner tube of the cartridge at the same time.
- the cover disk 9A has on its inner circumference a region 37 which runs obliquely inwards over the radial groove and lies on the inner leg 23 and which ends in a circumferential sealing lip 38 for contact with the inner tube 35.
- an insertion bevel for the inner tube 35 is formed. This has the advantage that the irine tube 35 is easily inserted into the central bore 39 of the annular piston 1A even in the case of an inclined position shown in FIG. 4b. It is therefore possible to dispense with complex precentering mechanisms, which are otherwise often required in order to insert the piston undamaged into the cartridge.
- the central bore 39 of the annular piston 1A has a larger inner diameter than the previous embodiment.
- This ring piston 1A is intended for a coaxial cartridge with a mixing ratio of 1: 1, while the piston shown in FIGS. 4a and 4b is designed for a mixing ratio of 10: 1.
- the inner region 37 of the cover disk 9A also runs obliquely inwards and serves as an insertion slope for the inner tube 35 further support of the cover plate 9A protrudes into the radially inner groove 20 of the piston.
