Definitions
- the present invention relates to a reusable printing form, in particular for Use in offset printing, with a printing surface and a method for imaging a reusable printing form with a printing area.
- Lithographic printing is based on the use of the immiscibility of oil and Water on the printing form, whereby the lipophilic solution or the ink or color through the image-forming areas and the water or the hydrophilic solution through the non-image-forming areas of the printing surface are held. If the in suitably prepared printing area with hydrophilic and lipophilic substance or Solution, especially water and ink or paint, is wetted, so keep non-image areas preferably the hydrophilic substance or solution back and repel the lipophilic substances, while the pictorial areas repel the lipophilic solution or accept ink or paint and repel the hydrophilic substances. As a result then the lipophilic substance in a suitable manner on the surface of a material transferred, on which the image is to be fixed, for example paper, fabric, polymers and the same.
- Aluminum has been used as a substrate for printing plates for many years. Usually the aluminum is first a grain process and then a Subsequent anodizing processes.
- the anodizing serves to to provide anodic oxide layer, the adhesion of which is improved by the grain.
- the grain size increases the hydrophilic properties of the background Pressure plate reinforced.
- a strong acid is usually such as sulfuric or phosphoric acid, then used by another Processes, such as in a thermal siliconization process or the so-called electrosiliconization to make the surface hydrophilic.
- the aluminum carrier can be characterized in that it has a porous, tear-resistant hydrophilic surface, especially the lithographic Pressure is adjusted, especially in the case of long print runs.
- the arrangement described above is subjected to imagewise exposure by selective energy is supplied. This can be done for example by means of exposure a mask with UV light or by writing directly with a laser.
- lithographic printing plates of the type described above are usually used treated with a developer solution, which is typically an aqueous alkaline solution with organic additives.
- a developer solution typically an aqueous alkaline solution with organic additives.
- oxide ceramics which for example in the form of coatings on a printing plate, use Find.
- EP 0 911 154 A1 proposes TiO 2 and ZnO 2 as the material for the plate surface, which can be present in ceramic form both in pure form and with other metallic additives in various mixing ratios.
- This surface is non-excited hydrophobic and can be brought into a hydrophilic state by irradiation with ultraviolet light. This switching process can be reversed by heating.
- the imaging is now done by illuminating the entire surface of the plate with ultraviolet light and areas which are supposed to lead to color during printing are covered by a mask or a film. The image areas are then thermally deleted, e.g. B. switched back with a laser beam.
- No. 5,743,188 proposes the use of zirconate (ZrO 2 ) in a ceramic-pure form or in a form provided with other additives as an active material in the surface.
- the surface is exposed point by point to laser radiation, ie melted, and is thereby converted from a hydrophilic, stoichiometric to a lipophilic, sub-stoichiometric state. This transformation into the substoichiometric state takes place by ablation (removal) of small amounts of the surface of the ceramic.
- the printing form can be erased by thermally oxidizing the surface.
- oxide ceramics are much harder and more brittle than metals, it happens Tensions in and between the layers leading to detachment from the substrate, be it a Metal background or a film, in particular made of a polymer, leads. In particular bending the substrate can cause cracks and flaking.
- CtP systems computer-to-plate systems
- the object of the present invention is to provide a material for the printing form surface to propose that has better surface and processing properties so that multiple prints of different images on the same printing surface is suitable. At the same time, the costs are reduced.
- a printing form with a titanium-containing surface is used as the printing surface suggested.
- a metallic surface is created under a titanium-containing surface understood, which consists entirely of metallic titanium or a titanium-containing alloy.
- the titanium part of the alloy is typically in the range between 50 and 100%, preferably between 95 and 100%.
- this surface can be the untreated
- the surface of a sheet can either be made of titanium or a titanium-containing alloy.
- this surface can be formed as a thin layer, which is on a Carrier, such as a sheet, a plastic or a film, with a suitable Process, in particular by electroplating, has been deposited.
- a Carrier such as a sheet, a plastic or a film
- a suitable Process in particular by electroplating, has been deposited.
- the titanium-containing surface in the form of a coating on a plate or a printing cylinder.
- the titanium-containing surface changes like a controlled energy supply for example, by irradiation with electromagnetic energy, their Surface energy and can change from a hydrophobic to a hydrophilic state be switched.
- the polar and dispersive parts of the surface energy in the exposed or unexposed state differ significantly from each other, so that the wetting differences can be used for offset printing.
- the metallic titanium surface according to the invention can therefore be one controlled processes for imaging and erasing. Stand by two symmetrical methods to choose from: selective pointwise Hydrophilize with large-area hydrophilization and selective point by point Hydrophobizing with large-area hydrophilizing.
- a suitable laser or a light emitting diode is used, which is in the ultraviolet Spectral range emitted, typically with a wavelength less than 420 nm
- a suitable laser or a light emitting diode is used, which is in the ultraviolet Spectral range emitted, typically with a wavelength less than 420 nm
- Returning the surface to its original state can be done using heat and / or water or aqueous solution with various additives, in particular Alcohols, preferably isopopanol, are treated. You can then use Hot air can be dried.
- hydrophilizing at certain points an image can thus be seen of the surface can be provided, which is achieved by hydrophobizing over a large area can be deleted.
- hydrophilization is carried out over a large area.
- This will be a suitable light source, typically a UV lamp, is used.
- point-by-point hydrophobization is a light source in the infrared spectral range, preferably a laser.
- an image can be created of the surface can be provided by point-by-point hydrophobization, which is carried out by large-scale hydrophilization can be deleted.
- the method according to the invention for imaging and erasure can both within as well as outside of the printing unit or the printing press.
- a an essential requirement is imagewise exposure to radiation, for example using ultraviolet light, which is effective the hydrophobic Titanium layer or titanium-containing alloy layer converted into a hydrophilic state.
- the printing surface according to the invention can be imaged by exposure process a transparent template.
- the printing area can also be done with digital Information can be directly exposed, for example by means of a laser beam.
- the one with A suitable control system can use lasers to write the background be used. Lasers in the ultraviolet spectral range are preferred emit.
- the printing surface of the printing device becomes ink or color cleaned in a suitable manner.
- the image can be deleted so that the Print area can be reused.
- the imaging and erasure can be carried out several times because the printing surface is extremely durable and long-lasting is.
- the printing form is produced using a Aluminum sheet, as used as the base material for conventional printing plates, deposited a metallic titanium layer, for example by electrochemical Method.
- the coated sheet is then one on the plate cylinder Direct imaging printing machine can be spanned.
- the First wet the plate with clean water, for example with the help of an additional one Dampening systems and dried with hot air, so that they are brought into the hydrophobic state becomes.
- the imaging is now carried out with a suitable laser head of direct imaging Printing machine that emits ultraviolet radiation.
- the needed here Intensities are significantly lower than with thermal imaging because of the material is not heated, but only - comparable to a film - has to be exposed.
- the use of a metallic titanium-containing surface results in a number of benefits.
- the metallic titanium coating of a sheet for the Printing form is less sensitive to bending than a printing form with one ceramic surface.
- the production of metallic layers is much easier than the ceramic, because on processes such.
- B. galvanization that can be used over a large area.
- the surface roughness can Surface quality of the carrier plate and / or the plastic carrier set in order to create optimal conditions for offset printing. Since when switching from hydrophobic to the hydrophilic state and back no material from the printing plate is removed, the plate can be erased and written to multiple times. Because the titanium surface itself is no longer hydrophilic or hydrophobic as a base material absolutely used the relatively expensive anodized aluminum described above , but it can also be used, for example, a cheap tinplate.
