Description
The present invention relates to a tamper-evident cap for a container, the neck of which has a peripheral bead, in particular for a plug from a barrel.
The barrels, in particular the barrels of beer, are provided with a drain intended to receive a cane of racking. The introduction of the cane pushes a valve which allows access to the liquid present in the barrel and to draw it out.
To prevent fraudulent racking from occurring between the filling of the barrel and the racking carried out by the legitimate user of the barrel, it is known to place a cap on the bung of the barrel. The cap is snapped onto the plug, so that to remove it from the plug it is necessary to break it. The absence of the cap noted by the legitimate user then indicates that a racking or fraudulent racking attempt has occurred.
This document shows a cap with a tear strip and locking tabs. The locking tabs ensure the non-reversible blocking of the cover on a drain. When the cap is removed, it breaks at the tear strip. Such a cap is injection molded into complex molds and therefore expensive to produce. Another example of a cap is described in the document
WO 94/16944.
This document shows a cap for beer barrel plug, consisting of two elements: a skirt element and a plug element. The skirt-forming element is placed on the bung of the barrel by non-reversible snap-fastening and on this element is glued by adhesive, or welded by ultrasound, the plug-forming element. This example of a cap is unsatisfactory insofar as it requires an operation of joining the skirt-forming element and the plug-forming element. However, in the industrial field of use of these caps, the financial margins are extremely reduced, it is not interesting, in economic terms, to offer caps requiring molds complex to produce or requiring welding or gluing operations.
Another problem with known headdresses is that of their decoration. In fact, beverage producers wish to use the caps to recall their brands, identify the type of beverage stored in the barrels, or indicate the preferred date of consumption.
This decoration operation is made difficult on known caps, by the fact that they are inherently fragile. However, printing a decoration requires many manipulations which risk causing them to break. In addition, the known caps have a three-dimensional geometry which can complicate the decoration operation.
Finally, the upper face of the known caps often exhibits rupture lines which interfere with the decoration, making it difficult to read. The object of the invention is to provide a cap of simple structure, ensuring the inviolability of a container whose neck has a peripheral bead, while allowing decoration of this cap for a low cost.
To this end, the cap according to the invention comprises: - a cylindrical belt comprising elastic hooking tabs below the bead of the neck of the container, in the form of hooks turned upwards and upper tabs arranged in the upper plane of the belt intended to come to bear on the end of the neck of the container, - a disc which bears on the edge of the neck, interposed between the upper tabs and the edge of the neck, the belt having, on its inner face, studs retaining disc against the upper tabs and having at least one rupture line over its entire height. The cap is put in place by irreversible snap-fastening of the elastic hooking tabs below the bead. The cap is removed by applying a pulling force to the lower periphery of the belt. When the tensile force is greater than the tear strength of the weakest region of the belt, the belt tears at a breaking line. The belt has at least one tear on its peripheral height on the one hand, proving a withdrawal or an attempt to remove the cap, and on the other hand prohibiting the replacement of the cap in its original integrity.
Due to its structure, the cap according to the invention consists of two elements which can each be produced economically. Indeed, both the belt and the disc can be injection molded in molds allowing natural release, without requiring complex and expensive molds of the type with drawers or with perforated ceiling. An additional advantage of the cap according to the invention is the ease with which it is possible to decorate it. Indeed, the part of a cap receiving a decoration is the upper face thereof. However, according to the invention, this face is an independent disk. This disc can be handled without risk of rupture and, as it has an almost two-dimensional geometry, it is easily stackable, storable and manipulable for decoration operations.
The cap according to the invention can be delivered assembled and, in this case, can be used like a conventional cap. It can also be delivered with two separate elements, each element being tinted in different colors. In this case it is possible to assemble caps with multiple color combinations.
Preferably, the retaining studs are longitudinal ribs, oriented along a generatrix of the belt and located opposite the attachment tabs. The upper tabs have a downward recess on the middle side of the belt, of profile complementary to that of a ' groove formed in the upper face of the disc.
L'effraction devient alors apparente. This configuration of the upper tabs and of the disc prohibits the withdrawal of the disc relative to the belt, except by breaking at least one upper tab of the belt to remove the disc. The break-in then becomes apparent.
In a preferred embodiment, each line of rupture of the belt is a slot oriented along a generatrix of the belt, at at least one of the ends of which is arranged a breakable bridge.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the breaking lines are two in number.
It follows from this arrangement that, when the cap is removed, the belt breaks into two half-belts which it is impossible to put back on the neck of a barrel. Advantageously, at least one of the breaking lines is located opposite an upper tongue, this tongue being connected to the belt by two breakable bridges arranged on either side of the breaking line.
When removing the cap, not only does a rupture of at least one rupture line occur, but also a rupture of at least one breakable bridge, making the break-in of the cap even more apparent.
Provision may be made to provide the belt with a stiffening rib in a lower and outer peripheral zone. Such a rib allows, at equal rigidity, to produce a belt whose walls are thin and therefore participates in the production of a cap at the best cost.
Advantageously, the attachment tabs and the upper tabs are angularly offset from one another. Thanks to this geometrical arrangement of the upper tabs and of the hooking tabs, the belt is obtained by natural demolding and therefore does not require expensive production equipment and techniques.
A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides for providing the disc, on its underside, with a rib whose outside diameter is equal to the inside diameter of the neck of the container. This rib for centering the cap on the drain.
The invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing showing, by way of nonlimiting example, a preferred embodiment of a tamper-evident cap for a container whose neck has a bead.
Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of the two components of the cap.
Figure 2 est une vue en coupe, suivant ll-ll de figure 3 de la coiffe mise en place sur la bande d'un fût muni d'une collerette,FIG. 2 is a sectional view, along ll-ll of FIG. 3, of the cap placed on the strip of a barrel provided with a collar,
As shown in Figure 1, the cap for barrel plug fitted with flange according to the invention consists of two elements: a belt (1) and a disc (2).
The belt (1) has a cylindrical geometry having a slight taper and comprises six hooking tabs (3), six upper tabs (4), six support ribs (5), two rupture slots (6) and two ribs stiffening (7).
Chaque languette d'accrochage couvre un secteur angulaire de 35 ° .The six elastic hooking tabs (3), in the form of hooks turned upwards, are inclined towards the center of the belt, as shown in Figures 1 and 2; so that the diameter of the fictitious circle passing through the end of the locking tabs corresponds to the diameter of the neck (8) under the flange (9). Each attachment tab covers an angular sector of 35 °.
Chaque languette supérieure couvre un secteur angulaire de 25 ° .The upper tabs (4) extend radially towards the center of the belt in the upper opening plane of the latter and have a downward recess (10) in their distal parts. Each upper tab covers an angular sector of 25 °.
The attachment tabs (3) and the upper tabs (4) are angularly offset from one another. The six support ribs (5) are arranged opposite each hooking tongue (3) along the generatrices of the belt.
The two rupture slots have at their lower end a rupture bridge (1 1).
The two rupture slots (6) are diametrically opposite and are arranged at two upper tabs which are connected to the belt by two rupture points (12, 12 '), on either side of the slot, as shown figure 3.
The stiffening ribs (7) extend in a semicircle on either side of the two rupture slots (6) at the outer lower periphery of the belt.
The disc (2), the diameter of which corresponds to the inside diameter of the belt, has a groove (13) on its upper face and a rib (14) on its lower face.
The groove (12) has a width corresponding to that of the recess (10) of the distal part of the upper tongues as shown in FIG. 2. The rib (14) has an outside diameter corresponding to the inside diameter of the neck.
Before putting the cap on the collar, the disc (2) is inserted into the belt (1). The hooking tabs (3) disappear and the disc (2) comes to take place between the top of the retaining ribs (5), the upper tabs (4) and the wall of the belt (2).
When the cap is in place, the hooking tabs (3) disappear on the bead (9). Once the bead has passed, the locking tabs (3) resume, thanks to their elasticity, their initial position as shown in FIG. 2 and irreversibly lock the cap on the neck of the container.
To remove the cap, a user exerts a manual pulling force on the lower periphery of the cap. The presence of the hooking tabs (3) prevents the cap from being removed. When the tensile force exerted by the user exceeds the force of resistance to tearing of the weakest zone of the belt, there is a rupture of the breaking pins (1 1, 12 and 12 '). The belt is then in two elements. Any attempt to replace the cap on the drain ends in failure. Indeed, the two semicircles resulting from the rupture of the belt cannot retain the disc (2). Consequently, it is not possible to replace the cap in its entirety on the neck of the container.
In the case of an attempt to remove the disc (2), a rupture occurs at the breakable points (12 and 12 '). At least one of the upper tabs disposed opposite a rupture slot is then separated from the belt, indicating an attempted break-in.
The invention thus provides a cap for barrel neck provided with a collar making it possible to remedy the drawbacks of the devices of the prior art, since the cap according to the invention has a simple structure and therefore economical to produce. The cap according to the invention is easy to decorate since the part receiving the decoration is a disc.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but on the contrary embraces all the variant embodiments thereof.
Thus, in particular, it is possible to provide the belt with a gripping tab to facilitate the gripping of the belt by the user or to make the disc retaining pads by pins.
