Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an electric timepiece such as, in particular, a wristwatch, supplied with electric current by an accumulator intended to be recharged after exhaustion, as well as means for recharging this accumulator.
  • the accumulator recharging device described in the aforementioned patent comprises a metal rod passing through a sleeve made of an electrically insulating material, this sleeve being itself housed in a second reinforcing sleeve.
  • This last sleeve, which is metallic, is hunted in the middle of the watch case.
  • the inner end of the rod is in contact with the upper face of the accumulator which constitutes one of the poles of this accumulator, while the outer end of said rod is pierced with a blind hole intended to receive the socket.
  • a charging device In the normal condition of use of the watch, the outer end of the rod is protected by a removable cap having the shape of a winding crown.
  • the charging apparatus comprises two metal blades electrically insulated from each other. One of the blades has a conical plug for penetrating into the blind hole of the refill rod described above.
  • the other blade of the charging device is in contact with the mass of the watch, for example with the time setting ring. The battery then charges the battery, usually enough overnight for the battery to power the movement again for several months.
  • Such a recharging device advantageously makes it possible to recharge the battery supplying a watch with electrical current without it being necessary, to carry out this recharging operation, to open and then, again, to close the watch case so as to be able to extract and relocate the accumulator in said box. It is thus possible to recharge the accumulator disposed inside the watch case from outside thereof.
  • Such a charging device nevertheless has certain drawbacks, among which may be mentioned the fact that it is necessary to provide an additional piece, in this case a charging rod, solely intended to allow the battery of the watch to be recharged.
  • This additional piece significantly complicates the construction of the watch case which, of course, has a negative impact on manufacturing costs.
  • the charging rod which passes through the watch case also has the disadvantage of altering the seal of the watch.
  • the charging rod and the time setting ring by means of which recharging of the battery is in permanent electrical contact with said accumulator.
  • the present invention aims to remedy the problems and disadvantages above as well as others by proposing a system for charging the battery of a watch particularly simple and inexpensive.
  • the present invention relates to a timepiece according to claim 1.
  • the present invention also relates to a timepiece according to claim 3.
  • the battery of the watch can be recharged using only the means that the watch wears for the adjustment and activation of its usual watch functions. It is therefore no longer necessary to add to the watch additional parts such as a contact rod or other to be able to connect the accumulator of said watch to a charging device.
  • the construction of the watch is therefore simplified, which significantly reduces manufacturing costs. Similarly, the tightness of the box is not impaired.
  • control element or bodies are pushbuttons.
  • the charging circuit of the battery is closed only when the pushbutton or buttons are pressed, which avoids any risk of inadvertent discharge of the battery when the watch is not not placed on the charging device.
  • the push buttons can, in fact, be easily isolated from a metal box insofar as they do not mesh with the movement of the watch but act by simple electrical contact, for example with a printed circuit range, to control the watch functions of said watch.
  • the present invention proceeds from the general inventive idea of recharging the accumulator of a watch using only the means conventionally worn such a watch for the adjustment and activation of its usual watch functions.
  • a control member of this watch is used to recharge the accumulator of the watch which, in its rest position, is not in electrical contact with the terminal of the accumulator. which it is connected, so that any risk of inadvertent discharge of this battery in normal condition of use of the watch is avoided.
  • the timepiece according to the invention may be, for example, a wristwatch. It is schematically represented in the figure 1 and generally denoted by the general reference numeral 1. It comprises in particular a middle 2, metal or not, traversed by a time setting rod 4 and by at least one control member 6 controlling at least one watch function of said watch 1.
  • the control member 6 is of the push button type.
  • This push button 6 is mainly composed of an elongate metal rod 8 preferably, but not exclusively, a cylindrical shape.
  • the rod 8 of the push button 6 passes through a sleeve 10 made of an electrically insulating material as shown schematically in FIG. figure 2 . This sleeve 10 is driven into the middle part 2 of the watch 1.
  • the middle part 2 of the watch 1 defines a central cavity in which a watch movement is conventionally arranged, display means such as an hour hand, a minute hand and a moving second hand. on a dial, as well as other organs such as, in particular, a printed circuit 12 on which is mounted an electronic control module 14 controlling the movement of the watch movement of said watch 1.
  • the electronic control module 14 is powered by a battery 16 to be recharged after depletion.
  • the accumulator 16 shown schematically on the figure 1 , present typically the shape of a pellet. It can be housed in the bottom of the watch 1.
  • the lower face of the accumulator 16 which constitutes its negative pole 18 is electrically connected to the metal base and therefore to the metal middle 2, that is to say to the ground of the watch 1, for example by means of a spring contact fixed on the inner surface of the bottom of said watch 1.
  • the positive pole 20 of the accumulator 16 which is constituted by its upper face is, in the usual way connected to the positive input terminal 22 of the electronic control circuit 14 which forms the second power supply of the movement of the watch 1.
  • the watch in particular the bottom and the middle part thereof, can be made of an electrically insulating material such as a plastic material.
  • one of the poles of the accumulator 16 is connected by an electrical connection to the time setting rod 4, the other pole of said accumulator 16 remaining connected to the input terminal 22 of the control circuit 14.
  • poles of the accumulator 16 can be inverted, the lower face of the round cell constituting its positive pole 20, and the negative pole 18 then being located on the top of this stack.
  • the positive pole 20 is electrically connected to the mass of the watch 1.
  • the time setting rod 4 essentially comprises a control pin 24 penetrating into a lateral opening 26 of the middle part 2 which guides the axis 24 in translation and in rotation.
  • the lateral opening 26 is conventionally oriented along a horizontal axis 3 hours-9 hours.
  • the control shaft 24 first comprises a winding crown 28 so that the user of the watch 1 can maneuver this axis 24 in translation and in rotation.
  • the mechanism then comprises at its free end oriented towards the center of the watch 1 a pinion which cooperates conventionally with a toothed gear (not shown).
  • the mechanism can thus mesh with gear wheels 30 which are, for example, the date correction wheel and possibly the day of the week and the time correction wheel.
  • the axis 24 further comprises three grooves 32a, 32b and 32c which cooperate with an end 34a of a spring 34 to define three axial positions of said axis 24. On the figure 1 the end 34a of the spring 34 is engaged with the groove 32b to define the position of the mechanism in which the date correction wheel 30 is driven.
  • the push-button 6 comprises a pusher head 44 and the metal pusher rod 8.
  • the pusher rod 8 is slidably disposed inside a housing 46 of generally cylindrical shape formed in the middle part 2 of the shows 1.
  • the push rod 8 moves axially in the housing 46 against the restoring force of a spring 48 when a control push is applied to the push head 44.
  • the return spring 48 is disposed in a housing 50 formed in the pusher head 44 and bears axially on the bottom 52 of a cavity 54 provided in the middle part 2.
  • the push rod 8 has at a location of its length a annular groove 56 in which is housed a seal 58. This seal 58 ensures the sealing of the housing 46 when the rod 8 slides therein during the actuation of the push button 6 by a user.
  • the push-button 6 also comprises a retaining means 60 which exerts on the push rod 8 sufficient force to act against the return force of the spring 48 and thus prevent said rod 8 from escaping from the housing 46 in which it slides.
  • the retaining means 60 is a W-shaped key which is engaged in an annular groove 62 which the push rod 8 has towards its end opposite to the pusher head 44. In the normal condition of use, the key 60 is therefore always pressed against the inner face of the middle part 2 of the watch 1. It moves only when a control push is applied to the push-button 6.
  • the key 60 is obtained by cutting or stamping a metal sheet in a particular contour and by folding so as to exert, after its introduction, both the functions of key and contact means.
  • the key 60 is composed for this purpose of two blades 64a and 64b extending in the general plane of said key 60. These two blades 64a, 64b are connected together in their upper part by a notch 66 V-shaped for engage in the annular groove 62 of the push rod 8 to form a key. Downward, each of the blades 64a, 64b is extended beyond a fold 68a, 68b by a small curved contact tab 70a, 70b.
  • the contact tab 70a projects at a certain angle out of the general plane of the key 60 to establish a contact, for example a ground contact, on an area of the printed circuit 12 as will be seen later.
  • the notch 66 is extended by a tongue 72 bent substantially at 90 ° to the plane of the key 60.
  • the printed circuit 12 on which the electronic control module 14 is mounted has two contact pads 74a, 74b which each consist of a semi-cylindrical hole having a metallized vertical wall 76a, 76b arranged facing the contact tabs 70a, 70b respective of the key 60.
  • One of these holes is electrically connected to the control module 14, while the other hole is connected to the positive pole 20 of the accumulator.
  • the tongue 72 which extends the notch 66 at 90 ° relative to the plane of the key 60 butte on the printed circuit 12 in the case where the key 60 leave the annular groove 62 of the push rod 8 in which it is engaged.
  • the key 60 is therefore not likely to fall into the watch movement of the watch that it could damage.
  • the push-button 6 is electrically connected to the positive pole 20 of the accumulator 16, while the time-setting rod 4 is connected to the ground of the watch 1, that is, ie to the negative pole 18 of said accumulator 16.
  • the recharging apparatus 38 To recharge the accumulator 16 of the watch 1, it is placed on the recharging apparatus 38.
  • the electrical sockets 40 and 42 of the recharging apparatus 38 are then received by the push button 6 and the time setting rod 4 respectively.
  • the electrical outlet 42 which comes into contact with the time setting rod 4 may consist of a simple metal blade.
  • the push button 6 comprises a pusher head 44 metal driven on the push rod 8. It must then be ensured that this pusher head 44 metal does not short circuit with its vicinity.
  • the pusher head 44 is made of a plastic or elastomer material hot-injection molded so as to bind to the push rod 8.
  • the push rod 8 metal arrives at the flower of the head pusher 44 or protrudes slightly from the surface of said pusher head 44, so that the electrical contact can be established with the electrical outlet 40 of the recharging apparatus 38.
  • the push rod 8 is embedded in the pusher head 44 made of a relatively soft plastic or elastomeric material.
  • the electrical plug 40 of the recharging apparatus 38 then has an extremely tapered tip 78 which is capable of easily penetrating into the soft material of which the pusher head 44 is made and of coming into electrical contact with the push rod 8.
  • the timepiece 1 may comprise at least two control members each controlling at least one watch function of said timepiece.
  • these control members are constituted by four push buttons 6 'of the type described above.
  • These four push buttons 6 'each include a retaining means 60' cut and folded so as to exert, after its implementation, both the key functions and contact means.
  • the retaining means 60 ' are keys opposite which is provided, each time, a pair of contact pads 74'a, 74'b formed in the printed circuit 12'.
  • These contact pads 74'a, 74'b each consist of a semi-cylindrical hole having a metallized vertical wall 76'a, 76'b.
  • one hole of each pair of contact pads 74'a, 74'b is electrically connected to the electronic control module 14 ', while the other hole is connected to the mass of the watch 1, c that is, the negative pole 18 'of the accumulator 16'.
  • the other pairs of holes 74'a, 74'b except for a pair whose hole will be connected to the positive pole 20 'of the accumulator 16'.
  • one of the push buttons 6 ' in this case that located at the top right of the figure 9 , will be connected to the positive pole 20 'of the accumulator 16', while the other three push buttons 6 'will be connected to the negative pole 18' of the same accumulator 16 '.
  • the respective charging rods 8 'of these two push-buttons 6' connect the charging device. 38 'at the terminals of said accumulator 16'.
