Description

The present invention relates to motor vehicle headlights.

More specifically, the invention relates to a projector comprising improved means for fixing a lamp in a reflector of the projector.

Two major families of means are known for fixing a lamp in a projector reflector:
  • on the one hand, it is known to provide directly on the lamp hooking means to cooperate with adjustments of the reflector: this is the case of bayonet lamps, whose base carries rods intended to be engaged in housing adjustments of the reflector wall.
This solution allows efficient attachment of the lamp in the reflector. However, because there are several types of bayonets to cooperate with specific arrangements of the reflectors, this solution goes against the standardization of the lamps, which entails cost and complexity disadvantages related to the large number of references. lamps,
  • on the other hand, deformable locking springs are also known which have the advantage that they can be used with a very large number of lamp models.

In this case, the angular position of the lamp relative to the reflector is fixed by polarizing means, and the spring prevents the removal of the lamp.

But these springs, if they are an advantageous solution in terms of hardware standardization, are parts whose size is important. In addition, the handling of these springs is sometimes difficult, especially when the positioning of the lamp in the reflector makes it difficult to access an operator.

The object of the invention is to make it possible to produce a motor vehicle headlamp comprising means for fixing a standard lamp such as those used in known manner with springs of locking, while greatly reducing the disadvantages associated with fasteners by locking springs.

In order to achieve this object, the invention proposes a motor vehicle headlamp comprising a lamp mounted in a reflector and means for locking the position of the lamp in the reflector, characterized in that the locking means comprise an elastically-elastic element. deformable and a rigid element, the two elements being movable relative to each other in at least one degree of freedom and cooperating together during their relative movement relative to each other to deform the element elastically deformable and bring portions of this element into overlap of a portion of the lamp, so as to lock the position of the lamp relative to the reflector, and in that the elastically deformable element comprises fingers engaged in respective openings of the rigid element, said openings extending along median lines that do not correspond to arcs of a circle centered on the center of the rigid element, so that during a rotation of the elastically deformable element relative to the rigid element, the cooperation of each finger and the walls of the respective opening in which the finger is engaged causes deformation of the elastically deformable element.

Preferred, but not limiting, aspects of the process according to the invention are the following:
  • the degrees of freedom of the elastically deformable element relative to the rigid element are a single degree of freedom.
  • the unique degree of freedom is a rotation about an axis parallel to the axis of the lamp.
  • the rigid element is fixed relative to the reflector, the elastically deformable element being movable relative to the reflector.
  • the elastically deformable element is a substantially circular ring whose fingers cooperate with corresponding means of the rigid element so that a rotation of the ring about an axis parallel to the axis of the lamp causes deformation of the ring, the rotation of the ring being limited between two end positions respectively corresponding to a locking position of the lamp position in which at least a portion of the ring is in overlap of a part of the lamp and a position of unlocking the lamp in which no part of the ring covers the lamp.
  • the openings of the rigid element are configured so that a rotation of the ring in a first direction brings about a bringing together of parts of the ring so that said parts of the ring overlap with a cup of the lamp, and a rotation of the ring in the opposite direction causes a spacing of said parts of the ring so that they release the cup.
  • the parts of the ring adapted to overlap the lamp cup are ring sections of reduced internal radius.
  • the fingers of the ring engaged in openings of the rigid member protrude beyond the surface of the rigid member, so as to be accessible to an operator so that it can rotate the ring.
  • the rotation of the ring is guided by the cooperation of the ring with protruding guides out of the wall of the reflector.
  • there are provided means for setting the position of the ring relative to the rigid element in each of the two locking and unlocking positions of the lamp.
  • the elastically deformable element is fixed relative to the reflector, the rigid element being movable relative to the reflector.

Other aspects, objects and advantages of the present invention will appear better on reading the following description of a particular embodiment of the invention with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is a rear elevational view of the arrangements provided on the rear of the wall of a projector reflector according to the invention, around an opening for receiving a lamp. In this figure is defined the sectional plan II-II,
  • FIG. 2 is a section along the plane II-II defined in FIG. 1,
  • FIG. 3 is an elevational view of a cover intended to cooperate with the arrangements of FIGS. 1 and 2,
  • FIG. 4 is an elevational view of a deformable locking ring intended to cooperate with the cover and the arrangements mentioned above, the ring being shown, in a position of unlocking in which it is not deformed. In this figure is defined the section plane VV,
  • FIG. 5 is a section along the plane VV defined in FIG. 4,
  • FIG. 6 is a view similar to that of FIG. 4, showing the ring in a locking position in which the ring is deformed,
  • Figures 7 and 8 are views respectively corresponding to Figures 1 and 2, on which there is shown the ring and the hood mounted on the arrangements of the reflector, to lock the position of a lamp.

Figures 1 and 2 show the structure of arrangements carried by the rear surface of a reflector wall 10 of a projector according to the invention, Figure 1 is a rear elevational view.

Around an opening 11 provided in the wall of the reflector provided to allow an operator to engage from the rear a lamp bulb (not shown) inside the reflector, we find the following concentric arrangements, starting from the center of the opening:
  • immediately surrounding the opening 11, a surface 12 on which is to bear a mounting part (such as a cup) of a lamp, the diameter of the cup being greater than that of the opening 11, while the bulb is engaged in this opening. The lamp (not shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 but whose position will be explained with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8) may be of any known type that can be used with a locking spring, for example a standard "H7" type lamp. . The bearing surface 12 is adjacent to a conventional keying notch 120 for correctly positioning the lamp,
  • surrounding this bearing surface 12, a ring 13 is projecting rearwardly so as to form a circular shoulder 130 (whose height h may be 0.4 to 0.6 millimeters for example). The flat surface of this crown carries two guides 131 and 132 integrally formed, protruding rearward and diametrically opposite with respect to the center of the opening 11,
  • a groove 14 surrounds the crown 13, said groove being itself encircled with an outer edge 15.

All these arrangements come from material with the reflector, which can be made by molding a plastic material such as thermodur (trademark).

FIG. 3 represents a cover 20 in the general shape of a crown hollowed out at its center. The cover 20 is intended to be engaged from the rear on the arrangements described above. This cover which is not deformable is made of a single piece in a rigid plastic material, and comprises:
  • a central portion 21 which forms a planar ring extending in the plane of Figure 3, said portion comprising two elongated openings 211 and 212 symmetrical with respect to the geometric center O of the cover. Each opening (211, 212) has a substantially constant width. It will be noted that the opening 211 extends along a mean geometric line L that does not correspond to an arc centered on the point O, but to a spiral portion so that, when the opening is described by turning around it from the geometric point O, the distance at this point varies. The outer diameter of the flat portion 21 is slightly greater than the outer diameter of the ring 13 of FIGS. 1 and 2, which it is intended to cover,
  • around this flat portion 21, the cover 20 comprises a groove portion 22, whose dimensions correspond to those of the groove 14 of Figures 1 and 2 so that the groove portion 22 of the cover can be engaged in the groove 14 of the reflector arrangements. A flange 23 borders the outside of the groove 22.

Cette bague, réalisée dans une matière élastiquement déformable telle qu'un acier souple ou une matière plastique, a une géométrie circulaire en l'absence de toute contrainte extérieure.FIGS. 4 to 6 show all or part of a ring 30 intended to be placed and held between the arrangements of the rear of the reflector and the cover 20. This ring, made of an elastically deformable material such as a flexible steel or a plastic material, has a circular geometry in the absence of any external constraint.

La figure 4 représente la bague dans son état dit « de déverrouillage » (on va préciser plus loin dans ce texte à quoi correspond le verrouillage et comment on l'obtient).Figure 4 shows the ring in its so-called "unlocking" state (we will specify later in this text what lock is and how it is obtained).

The ring 30 is made in one piece, and comprises two fingers 31 and 32 salient perpendicularly out of the same surface of the ring (corresponding to the surface 300 facing the observer in Figure 4), the two fingers being diametrically opposed . Figure 5 shows the geometry of the finger 31 in the particular example described here; however, the fingers may have a different geometry.

The outer radius of the ring 30 is constant, but its inner radius is not: the ring has indeed two sections 310 and 320 diametrically opposed and whose width between the outer edge of the section and its inner edge has a first value I, but also two other diametrically opposite sections 311 and 321, which join on both sides of the ring the sections 310 and 320, the width L sections 311 and 312 being greater than I, their inner radius being less than that of sections 310 and 320. The fingers 31 and 32 are located in the middle regions of the respective sections 311 and 312.

Figure 6 shows the ring 30 when radial inward stress is applied to each finger 31, 32 (such stresses being represented by arrows). Under the effect of such opposing constraints, the ring deforms and takes an elliptical shape, the sections 311 and 312 then approaching. In this figure, there is shown in dashed lines the shape of the ring in the absence of any constraint.

It will be noted that FIGS. 4 and 6 represent the ring with two different angular positions with respect to a reference axis X linked to the casing 20. The meaning of these two angular positions will appear below.

In correspondence with FIGS. 1 and 2, FIGS. 7 and 8 show, seen from the rear, the means making it possible to lock according to the invention a standard type lamp "H7" engaged in the opening 11 of the wall of the reflector.

In these figures, the cover 20 and the ring 30 have been assembled to cooperate together so as to selectively block the cup 41 of the lamp 40 so that any movement of the lamp rearward is prohibited. Said cup is supported on the surface 12 of the wall of the reflector, via bosses. Since any movement of the lamp in a plane parallel to that of the cup is also prohibited by the cooperation of conventional tabs B of the lamp cup, with complementary arrangements of the reflector (said adjustments of the reflector being only partially shown in the figure by the notch 120 in the peripheral wall of the opening 11), the prohibition of movement of the lamp in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the cup 41 is equivalent to locking the lamp.

To perform this selective locking of the cup - and therefore of the lamp of which it is rigidly secured, the cooperation of the arrangements of the wall of the reflector, the ring 30 and the cover 20 are used, these various elements having initially been mounted together with the following way:

First of all, the ring 30 is engaged at the rear on the surface of the crown 13 of the arrangements of the reflector. The ring is mounted on the ring 13 so as to surround the guides 131 and 132 with which the inner wall of the sections 310 and 320 of the ring cooperates to guide the ring in rotation about an axis coinciding with the axis of the lamp .

The cover 20 (only part of which is shown in Figure 7) was mounted behind the ring 30 so as to cover it from the rear, the fingers 31 and 32 of the ring being when mounting the bonnet engaged in the two respective openings of the cover (only the opening 211 being shown in Figure 7).

The groove portion 22 of the cover has then been fitted into the groove 14 of the reflector wall, so that the cover is fixed relative to the reflector and holds the ring 30.

Once this initial setup is done:
  • the ring 30 is located in the space covered by the portion 21 of the cover. The guides 131 and 132 keep the ring centered on the middle of the opening of the reflector, and the diameter of the portion 21 of the cap being slightly greater than the outer diameter of the ring, the latter may deform under the action of constraints. such as those mentioned above,
  • and the fingers 31 and 32 are engaged in the openings 211 and 212 of the hood and can move only along the center line of their associated opening, the width of which corresponds to the width of the finger. In addition, these fingers protrude rearward out of the hood openings to be manipulated by an operator in the manner to be described below.

When the ring is in the position corresponding to that of Figure 7, the cooperation of each finger of the ring and the walls of the opening of the cover in which the finger is engaged causes a deformation of the ring, so that it is in its state in Figure 6. In this "locking" position of the ring, a portion of each section 311 and 321 partially covers the cup 41 of the lamp and thus prohibits the withdrawal of the lamp backwards. As has been said, the difference in diameters of the part 21 of the cover and the ring allows the deformation of the latter.

If an operator then rotates the ring in the trigonometric direction by manipulating the fingers 31 and 32 which protrude from the rear of the cover, the ring also rotates in the counterclockwise direction and during this rotation of the ring, the operator does not can move each finger as along the opening in which the finger is engaged; these openings 211 and 212 thus guide the fingers and, as and when the rotation of the ring in the trigonometric direction, the fingers deviate due to the arrangement of the openings, the material of the ring allowing this deformation.

At the end of this rotation in the trigonometric direction (defined by the ends of the openings 211 and 212), the fingers 31 and 32 are not subjected to any radial force directed towards the center of the ring, so that the elastic ring returns to its shape. corresponding to the representation of Figure 4. Therefore, the sections 311 and 321 are also spaced so that they no longer cover the lamp cup, which can be removed from the reflector.

It thus appears that the cooperation of the fixed and rigid cover 20 and the ring 30 movable with respect to the cover and elastically deformable makes it possible to selectively lock the lamp in the reflector, in an extremely simple manner. Indeed, an operator can easily perform this selective locking with one hand, even if the lamp is located in a difficult to access location.

It is also possible to provide means for maintaining the position of the ring relative to the cover in its two locked and unlocked positions, for example by providing bosses in two parts of the cover, angularly spaced and able to cooperate with a complementary hollow of the surface of the ring which is in front of a respective one of the two bosses of the cover in each of the respective two positions of locking and unlocking.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the particular embodiment shown above in which a fixed rigid element (Cover 20) cooperates with an elastically deformable and movable element (ring 30). In particular it is possible to provide a movable rigid element, while the elastically deformable element selectively covering a portion of the lamp cup is fixed relative to the reflector.

It is also possible to arrange differently the rigid element (corresponding here to the casing 20) and the elastically deformable element, a part of which partially covers the cup of the lamp to lock its position, the important thing being that during the movement relative to the rigid element, these two elements cooperate to deform the elastically deformable element so that certain parts thereof are at least partially cover the cup 41 of the lamp and lock, so its position in the reflector.

In this regard, it is not mandatory that the relative movement of the elastically deformable element relative to the rigid element is a rotation about an axis coincident with that of the lamp as in the example described above. ; it is also possible to arrange these two elements so that they cooperate in any other degree of freedom (translation, translation-rotation, screwing, ...).
