A contact unit comprises a stationary contact (12) and a contact spring (10) which has two transverse contact points (15,16) on an undivided spring end section and, between its fixed end and the contact points, a flexible region (19) capable of torsion about its longitudinal axis.

Description

To increase the contact reliability of electromagnetic relays It is known for example from DE-C-32 24 013, the contact spring by to provide a longitudinal slot with two resilient ends and each end equipped with a contact piece, with a corresponding mating contact piece working together on a common fixed contact. The probability that both pairs of contacts due to contamination due to the smallest glass fibers, spray burrs or the like, is much lower than single contacts.

In such "twin" contact springs, as similar to DE-B-11 75 807, DE-U-94 04 775 and DE-C-972 072 are known, but there is the Difficulty that the spring arms formed by the longitudinal slot lighter break as the undivided spring. In such a case, although the relay in itself still functional, the broken spring arm but can lead to unforeseen short circuits. Another problem of the known Twin contact spring is that the individual spring arms a lot softer than the undivided spring, so that when welding a contact the corresponding spring arm is not sufficiently rigid to the actuator to hold in the closed contact position. For these reasons is the use of the familiar twin contact springs in safety relays not permitted.

From DE-C-32 24 468 a contact arrangement is known in which the Contact spring two with separate fixed contacts cooperating contacts wearing. Apart from the fact that in such bridge contacts the total contact resistance is twice as high as for a single contact, this arrangement does not increase the security of the contact but the contact opening.

Also known are so-called "crown contacts" in which at least one of two co-operating contact rivets one sublime Edge has, so that with low mutual displacement of the two rivets two contact points arise. Apart from the fact that the so formed Contact points are very small area, uses the raised edge in the Operation relatively quickly, so that the intended double contact effect gets lost quickly.

The document DE-U-90 15 406 shows a contact unit according to the preamble of claim 1.

The invention has for its object to provide a contact unit provide the reliability of contacting safety relays, i. Relay with positively driven contacts, increased.

The inventive solution to this problem is characterized in claim 1.

In the then designed contact unit are on the contact spring provided two contact points, which are transverse to the longitudinal extent of the contact spring are arranged and with the same fixed contact or with at this cooperate provided mating contact points. The fact, that the contact spring is not only flexible in at least one area, but also has increased torsional capability about its longitudinal axis, that both pairs of contacts close even if the Contact pieces bearing free end of the contact spring not parallel to the the mating contacts bearing fixed contact runs.

In contrast to the above-mentioned twin-contact spring is in the contact unit according to the invention, the contact spring continuously in their one-piece shape, so that spring break is less likely and possibly to a complete failure of the relay by interruption leads.

The two contact pairs can each be separated from at least two, provided on contact spring and / or fixed contact contacts be formed. According to claim 5, it is alternatively possible, the two Contact points on the contact spring and / or on the fixed contact in the form to form a common contact piece.

Advantageous designs for the area of increased torsional capability are specified in claim 6.

The developments of the invention according to claims 2 to 4 are expedient to a positive guidance of the contact spring by the actuator, especially when opening, reach.

The design of the contact spring leading actuator according to the Claims 7 and 8 is appropriate to that for the relay according to the invention To use typical torsional behavior of the contact spring effectively.

In the embodiment of the invention according to claim 9, the contact unit designed so that the contact spring against the fixed contact is deliberately inclined so that a first closing and last opening Precontact and a last closing and first opening main contact arise. This design has the advantage of a softer contact with reduced bounce behavior.

In the embodiment of the invention according to claims 10 to 12 is the first closing and last opening contact pair with the for a Load contact functional features while the other Contact pair has the qualities of a signal contact.

The contact unit shown in Figures 1 and 2 essentially consists of a contact spring 10 which is fastened with its one end to a support 11 , riveted approximately, a free end of the contact spring 10 opposite fixed contact 12 and acting on the contact spring 10 Actuator 13, which is coupled in the embodiment assumed here with a direction indicated in Figure 2 relay armature 14 .

The fixed contact 12 opposite free end of the contact spring 10 is widened relative to its main part and carries two contact pieces 15, 16 which are arranged transversely to the longitudinal extent of the contact spring 10 side by side (in the drawing below each other). Likewise, the fixed contact 12 is provided with two contact pieces 17, 18 which face the contact pieces 15, 16 of the contact spring 10 and cooperate with each of these.

As can be seen from Figure 2, the free end of the contact spring 10 is at an angle to the fixed contact 12, so that the contact pieces 15, 16 of the contact spring 10 connecting straight line intersects the contact pieces 17, 18 of the fixed contact 12 connecting line at an acute angle , This inclination of the free end of the contact spring 10 is due to the fact that the contact spring is vorortiert in a located between its fixed and free end torsion region 19 about its longitudinal axis.

The actuator 13 is arranged and configured to engage the contact spring 10 near its free end and to engage with both opposed surfaces of the contact spring 10 . In this case, the contact areas 20, 21 of the actuator 13 in the direction of the respective surface of the contact spring 10 are convex.

If the armature 14 is actuated in the direction of the arrow A when the relay is actuated, it moves the actuator 13 in FIG. 2 to the right. Figure 2 shows the moment in which the upper contact piece 15 of the contact spring 10, the contact piece 17 of the fixed contact 12 just touched. Upon further movement of the actuator 13 to the right in Figure 2, the front end of the contact spring 10 pivots about the contact point between the contact pieces 15 and 17, this pivoting movement is ensured by a sufficiently sized Tordierbarkeit the torsion 19 until the lower contact pieces 16, 18 each other touch. The subsequent further movement of the actuator 13 to the right in Figure 2 to the end position of the armature 14 now causes the fixed contact 12 is deflected while the contact force is increased at the two contact pairs.

During the described pivoting movement of the contact pieces 15, 16 supporting the free end of the contact spring 10 , this rolls off at the convex contact area 20 of the actuator 13 from.

To open the relay armature 14 is moved in the direction of arrow B, so that now the opposite contact portion 21 of the actuator 13 comes into engagement with the other surface of the contact spring 10 and causes the contact pieces 15, 16 of the contact spring 10 of the contact pieces 17, 18 of the fixed contact 12 are lifted. In this case, first opens the lower contact pair 16, 18 and then the upper contact pair 15, 17th

According to the described operation forms the upper contact pair 15, 17 a precontact and the lower contact pair 16, 18 a main contact. Since the first closing and last opening Vorkontakt forms a load contact and wears faster, as shown in Figure 1, the contact piece 15 is larger than the corresponding to the main or signal contact contact piece 16. Furthermore, the contact pieces 15, 17 of the precontact consist less noble material than the contact pieces 16, 18 of the main contact. For example, the contact pieces 15, 17 made of AgSnO and the contact pieces 16, 18 made of an AuAg alloy.

Instead of the above-mentioned predilection of the torsion 19 to achieve the illustrated in Figure 2 inclined position of the free end of the contact spring 10 relative to the fixed contact 12 , the same operation can also be achieved by tilting the fixed contact 12 or by tilting the support 11 together with the contact spring 10, which is flat in this case in the rest position.

The electromagnetic relay partially shown in the perspective view of Figure 3 (omitting the housing cap) comprises a base body 22 from which protrudes a yoke leg 23 of a coil (not shown) passing through the yoke. The yoke leg 23 is located between the two arms of the generally H-shaped relay armature 14 in this embodiment , which is pivotally mounted about a vertical center axis on a bearing pin 24 mounted on the base body 22 .

The coupled to the relay armature 14 actuator 13 is slidably guided by integrally formed on the base body 22 guide columns 25 in its plane and surrounds, as shown in more detail in Figure 4 to 6, the contact spring 10, the contact pieces 15, 16 with the fixed contact 12 attached contact pieces 17th , 18 work together. In Figure 3, the relay is shown equipped with two contact springs 10 . Terminal pins 26 of the fixed contacts 12 protrude from the base body 22 down.

In the contact spring 10 shown in more detail in Figure 4, the torsion region 19 is realized by reducing the spring width. Alternatively or additionally, the spring 10 may be reduced in this area 19 in their material thickness or treated in any other way to increase the torsional ability.

Der Betätiger 13 greift an der Kontaktfeder 10 in einem versteiften Bereich an.As shown, the area 19 is between the riveted to the contact carrier 11 fixed end of the contact spring 10 and the attack region of the actuator 13. The contact spring 10 has in this attack area and at its fixed end its full width, which is increased again at the free end, to create between the contact pieces 15 and 16 sufficient distance. The actuator 13 engages the contact spring 10 in a stiffened area.

As is apparent from Figure 5 and the partial enlargement of Figure 6, the contact spring 10 extends between the two contact areas 20, 21 of the actuator 13, of which the area is made convex or crowned 20 to assist in pressing the contact spring 10 to pivot about its central longitudinal axis allow and thus ensure a contact on both pairs of contacts 15, 17 and 16, 18 . In the opposite contact region 21, which comes into contact with the contact spring 10 during opening, a convex or spherical design is not required. If the contact spring 10 is biased in the closed position, the voltage applied to the opening 21 on its surface 21 of the actuator 13 should be spherical.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 7, the two located on the fixed contact 12 contact points are formed on a common contact piece 27 whose contact surface is dimensioned so that they can work together with the two separate contact pieces 15 and 16 of the contact spring. In order to allow proper contact even with twisted contact spring 10 or inclined fixed contact 12 , the contact surface of the common contact piece 27 is spherically shaped.

Instead of the embodiment shown in Figure 7, it is also possible to provide a large common contact piece on the contact spring 10 and to work with two separate contact pieces on the fixed contact 12 .

Another conceivable alternative is to arrange both on the contact spring 10 and on the fixed contact 12 a single continuous contact piece and to provide at least one of them with two projections for generating two spatially separated contact points.

As further shown in Figure 7, the contact spring 10 is provided in the direction of its longitudinal central axis with a bead 28 which increases the rigidity of the contact spring 10 in its longitudinal direction in the region between the contact pieces 15, 16 and the engagement region of the actuator 13 .

Instead of the bead 28 shown, a stiffening of the contact spring 10 can be achieved by increasing its thickness in the region between the contact pieces 15, 16 and the engagement region of the actuator 13 .

If the stiffening in the bead 28 shown in Figure 7 , it can pass over the entire length of the contact spring 10 to its fixed to the contact carrier 10 end; Such beading 28 , which extends in the direction of the longitudinal center axis and thus in the neutral zone of contact spring 10 , leads to reduced flexibility even in region 19, but does not affect the torsional ability in this region to any great extent.
