Definitions

  • the invention relates to a switch for motor vehicles, in particular steering column switches.
  • Such switches are said to be suitable, on the one hand, for switching substantial load currents, so that they are suitable for switching through supply currents for lamps and motors.
  • switches of this type are increasingly used for the indirect actuation of current consumers, which are then controlled directly via electronic circuits. It is therefore advantageous if steering column switches of this type are also suitable for switching through weak control currents.
  • Switches have already been proposed in which contact sections arranged adjacent to one another and fixed to the housing are electrically connected or disconnected to one another by pushing movement of contact bridges within the contact plane.
  • a disadvantage of such switches is that the two contact sections are separated by insulating material which comes into close contact with the contact bridge when it is passed over. As a result, residues of insulating material or the plastic housing, in which the contact sections are embedded, through which various contact bridges are added. When the contact bridge runs onto another contact section, the insulating material is then partly transferred to the contact track of this contact section or burned onto the contact surfaces by the arc that may arise. This results in contamination on the contact surface.
  • the invention is therefore based on a switch of the type resulting from the preamble of claim 1.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a switch with small dimensions, the contact surfaces of which are largely kept free of impurities, so that it is suitable both for switching larger and smaller currents.
  • the invention is achieved by the combination of features resulting from the characterizing part of claim 1.
  • the invention therefore consists in lifting the contact bridge at a suitable point before it leaves a contact section and then lowering it at a suitable point in a new contact section.
  • the sliding movement is combined with a lifting movement at the points which are important for the switchover.
  • the advantage resulting from this is that the actual contact surface does not come into contact with the insulating material surrounding the contact sections.
  • one contact part does not yet form an arc when it is lifted off because the other contact part is still in close electrical contact with the contact section.
  • a particularly simple construction suitable for lifting off a contact part is described by the features according to claim 2.
  • a ramp is then provided, via which a contact part of the contact bridge moving along a contact section is raised perpendicular to the plane of the contacts and lowered again over the next contact section.
  • the moving contact part thus follows the inclined, inclined ramp surfaces.
  • At least one ramp is then provided, which is arranged laterally of the contact surfaces of the contact bridge and contact section, so that the area of the contact bridge which runs onto the ramp does not come into contact with the contact surface on the contact sections.
  • the feature combination according to claim 7 is recommended in a further development of the invention.
  • an almost punctiform contact surface of the contacts can be achieved.
  • the combination of features according to claim 8 is recommended in a further development.
  • the resilient contact of the contact bridge on the contact tracks ensures a secure contact pressure even when the contact track is uneven. An increased spring pressure can still be used to keep the contact surfaces clean.
  • the contact bridge is limited in its path in the direction of the contact path, which brings advantages when installing the actuating lever in which the movable contact bridge is held securely and captively.
  • the features of claim 10 further create the possibility of locking the contact bridges in the actuating lever, so that they are easily mounted there, movably guided relative to the actuating lever and still opposite this operating lever are secured against loss.
  • the present invention makes sense to apply the present invention to slide switches in which the contact bridge performs a straight-ahead movement.
  • the invention is advantageously also suitable for contact sections or contact tracks which are laid one behind the other in a plane at an angle, the contact tracks themselves also being able to be curved. It is particularly advisable if the contact tracks on the contact sections are curved in the same direction and lie one behind the other with the same radius of curvature.
  • Such a construction is particularly suitable for steering column switches in which the actuating lever carries out a pivoting movement about a pivot point, which results in a circular sector-shaped movement of the contact bridge.
  • a simple structure for the contact tracks results from the features of claim 13. Thereafter, the contact track can be shaped out of the contact sections by stamping, so that such a contact section can also be punched out of a simple contact plate.

  • the two contact areas are advantageously electrically connected to one another by a web.
  • This mechanically stiff web is also suitable, according to claim 16, for molding a centering projection therein which forms a point of application for the prestressing spring. Since the contact areas effect both a mechanical control function with respect to the associated ramp and also a contact with the contact section fixed to the housing, the feature combination according to claim 17 is recommended in a further development of the invention. This ensures that the contact bridge cannot get caught in relation to the ramp.

  • FIG. 2 shows a side view of the contact bridge 6, which is seated on the contact track 4 of the contact section 2. The cut is made somewhat to the side of the contact path, so that only a ramp web 23 connecting the two partial ramps 21, 22 can be seen.

  • FIGS. 1 and 2 also shows the possibility of providing curved contact tracks 4, plug connections which are not shown in the drawing being formed on the associated contact sections at the same time.
  • the contact sections were punched together from a contact plate and then connecting webs were separated by punching through holes. This results in a considerably more complicated shape for the contact sections than shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
