Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to print of the kind comprising an endless conveyor that carries, from place to place place, a plurality of object carriers, and at least one printing station silk screen, which, placed in line with the path of the object-holder, is adapted to ensure in turn the printing of objects carried by them, see for example DE C-3820340.
- Silkscreen printing stations have many advantages, which make them appreciated for the printing of very diverse articles, and, for that of compact discs.
- the screen printing stations have the disadvantage to require, before their start, a setting in position of their screen of silk, to adjust the position of the impression provided by it in relation to the surface to be printed and, where appropriate, that is to say when a color change, cleaning the squeegee and counter-squeegee associated with this silk screen.
- the corresponding start-up time can for example reach several minutes.
- the present invention generally relates to a provision likely to minimize this disadvantage.
- a printing machine of the a kind with an endless conveyor which carries, from place to place, a plurality of object holders, and at least one printing station screenprint placed directly above the path of these object-holders, this printing machine being generally characterized in that also includes at least one digital printing station, which works by inkjet, and which is intended to intervene on demand.
- Inkjet-based digital printing stations are well known by themselves, and they have the advantages, on the one hand, of operating directly, without using any accessory, such as screen, snapshot or other, and thus allowing the economy of such an accessory, and, on the other hand, to be able to ensure, by themselves, the impression of several colors, without requiring any specific adjustment for each of them.
- the arrangement according to the invention leads to advantageously to the maintenance of an acceptable productivity for this machine to print, even when the number of articles to be printed is relatively weak.
- this provision which combines a digital printing station ink jet operation at a screen printing station, is all the more advantageous as, inkjet printing requiring the presence, on the objects to be printed, of a layer of absorbent material or varnish, this layer of absorbent material or varnish can easily be applied to these objects at a screen printing station.
- the next printing machine 10 the invention comprises, generally, in a manner known per se, a conveyor 11, which carries, from place to place, a plurality of object holders 13, and at least one screen printing station 14 disposed vertically above path of these object holders 13.
- This printing machine 10 does not, of itself, belong to the present invention, it will not be described in all its details here.
- the endless conveyor 11 it will suffice to indicate that, in the embodiment shown, it is formed, by way of example, by a circular contour plate rotatably mounted on a frame 12, in the manner of a turret, and that the object holders 13 that it carries are distributed circularly at a regular pitch around the axis of rotation A of this plate.
- the screen printing station 14 it will suffice, correspondingly, to recall that, in a manner known per se, it implements a silk screen forming stencil, some of the stitches are free and others closed, depending on the impression to be made, and that, on this screen of silk, is associated a squeegee, which, mounted mobile for this purpose, is suitable, in particular, to force ink to pass through his free meshes.
- screen printing stations 14 are distributed around the endless conveyor 11, at the rate of one printing station screen printing 14 per color to be applied to the articles to be printed.
- each screen printing station 14 thus implemented is usually associated with a drying station, not represent.
- positions may also be provided along the endless conveyor 11, such as, for example, a loading and / or unloading, a dedusting station, and a post flaming.
- the printing machine 10 also comprises the least one digital printing station 15, which operates by inkjet, and which is intended to intervene on demand.
- this digital printing station 15 is associated with a printing station screenprint 14, and is suitable for being substituted therefor.
- the printing station screen printing 14 which is thus associated with a digital printing station 15 is retractable.
- the silk-screen printing stations 14 other than that to which the digital print station 15 can be substituted are not, them, necessarily retractable.
- the printing station screen printing 14 to which is associated the digital printing station 15 is movably mounted between a service position, which is relatively close to the endless conveyor 11, and for which it is able to intervene, FIG. standby position, which is relatively far away from the endless conveyor 11, and for which he leaves between him and him a sufficient space for the digital printing station 15 can be implanted in its place, FIGS. 4A and 4B.
- the position screen printing device 14 is slidably mounted on at least one column 18, which extends substantially perpendicular to the endless conveyor 11.
- two columns 18 are provided, parallel to each other, at a distance from each other.
- the digital printing station 15 is globally movable between a waiting position, for which it is removed from the endless conveyor 11, FIGS. 1 and 4A, and a service position, for which, in substitution for the silk-screen printing station 14, is the plumb course of the object-carrying supports 13 carried by this conveyor without end 11, FIG. 4B.
- the position digital printing device 15 is slidably mounted on at least one rail 20, which extends substantially parallel to the endless conveyor 11.
- two rails 20 are parallel to each other at a distance from one another.
- the printing station digital 15 is carried by a frame 21 independent, that is to say by a frame 21 separate from the frame 12 carrying the endless conveyor 11 and the printing station screen printing 14.
- this frame 21 is equipped with wheels 22, for its approach of the frame 12, and the rails 20, which are supported by this frame 21, allow if necessary a finer adjustment of the position of the post of digital printing 15 relative to the frame 12, substantially parallel to the endless conveyor 11.
- the printing station digital device 15 is further mounted adjustable in substantially perpendicular to the endless conveyor 11.
- this embodiment is mounted sliding on at least one amount 24, which extends substantially perpendicular to the endless conveyor 11, and which is carried by a carriage 25 mounted movably on the rails 20.
- two amounts 24 are provided, parallel to each other, at a distance from each other.
- the printing station numeral 15 comprises a cross member 27, which, in the manner of an X-Y table, is mounted according to two orthogonal directions D1, D2, such as schematized by double arrows in Figure 2, and which carries at least one print head 28.
- one of the directions D1, D2 of mobility of this cross 27, in this case the direction D1, is substantially tangential to the tray forming the endless conveyor 11, and the other, and therefore, in this case, the direction D2, is substantially radial with respect thereto.
- the cross member 27 of the digital printing station 15 is slidingly mounted on at least one slide 29 which belongs to a carriage 30 itself slidable on at least one slide 31 orthogonal to the previous slide 29.
- the carriage 30 is somehow suspended the slides 31, and the crossbar 27 is on the slides 29.
- the cross member 27 is engaged by a nut 32, with a screw 33 set on the output shaft of a motor 34, and likewise the carriage 30 is engaged by a nut 35 with a screw 36 keyed on the output shaft an engine 37.
- the cross member 27 of the station of digital printing 15 extends substantially tangentially relative to to the plate forming the endless conveyor 11, in the direction D1.
- this cross 27 carries at least two heads 28, which are staggered along its length, and which are shifted transversely relative to each other along its width, from in order to take into account the radius of the circumference according to which the holders 13 extend.
- the crossbar 27 thus carries, remotely of the other, four printheads 28, and these are established next a step which corresponds substantially to the pitch of the object-bearing supports 13 on the endless conveyor 11.
- the print heads 28 act as nacelles on the lower surface of the crossbar 27, and each of them bears, itself, on its own lower surface, at least two print nozzles 39.
- the carriage 30 of the station digital printing device 15 comprises, at one of the ends of the slides 29, a housing 40, for housing a clean cleaning device to ensure the cleaning the print nozzles 39.
- the screen printing station 14 In normal operation, the screen printing station 14 is in the service position, and the digital printing station 15 is in position Wait.
- the printing station screenprint 14 is raised to the standby position, and in its place is inserted, under him, in space 16 that he leaves free between him and the endless conveyor 11, the digital printing station 15, as shown in Figure 4B.
- the printing station digital device 15 provided according to the invention cooperates with at least two supports 13 and, in the present case, with four, with the aid of a 13 per print head 28, intervening simultaneously on the objects to print carried by these object holders 13, while a post screen printing 14 only cooperates with a single support article 13
- the printing station digital 15 when it is in use, it intervenes, simultaneously, with at least one another screen printing station 14, if, as envisaged above, the printing machine 10 has one or more printing stations screenprint 14 in addition to the one with which this printing station is associated digital 15.
- modulation means are intended to allow, thus, effectively, to the printing station to intervene, at least momentarily, simultaneously with less another silk screen printing station 14.
- modulation means result, in particular, from this that the control means of the screen printing station (s) 14 are decoupled from the control means of the endless conveyor 11.
- modulation means result, in particular, that the control means of the or posts screen printing device 14 and the control means of the station 15 digital printing are distinct.
- control means of the endless conveyor 11 are preferably variable speed, to allow printing in serigraphy at a rate normal when possible, and an inkjet print at a rate slower when necessary.
