Definitions

  • the invention relates to a car radio, with a base part permanently installed in a car, which is connected to the car battery, antenna and loudspeaker, etc., and with a removable control unit, which contains the essential control elements for the car radio.
  • Car radios of this type are enjoying increasing popularity because the removable control unit is flat and light and can therefore be easily carried in a clothes bag or handbag. In this way, good theft protection is provided, since the base part remaining in the car without control unit, also called control panel, is worthless for potential thieves, whereby the function of the base part can usually only be activated via a code contained in a code memory of the control part.
  • car holders For mobile phones, colloquially called “cell phones”, car holders are available which on the one hand give the phone a secure mechanical hold and on the other hand contain an interface for the power supply of the phone, for an external antenna and to an external speaker / microphone, so that hands-free talking is possible is. If necessary, there is a control line for muting the car radios during telephone calls.
  • control unit is designed as an operating and telephone unit which has a keypad for operating the telephone and at least partly the car radio, a display for telephone and car radio functions and an interface at least for the telephone antenna, audio lines, control lines and the power supply
  • the control and telephone unit can be used as a stand-alone mobile phone in the removed state and can be used in conjunction with the base part both as a mobile phone with a hands-free function and as a car radio control.
  • the invention therefore assumes that one and the same device is available for operating the car radio and for use as a mobile phone. In this way there are a number of advantages as follows.
  • the anti-theft protection for the car radio is provided by removing the control and telephone unit. Furthermore, there is no separate holder for the mobile phone, i.e. the control and telephone unit is required, whereby handsfree talking is also possible without additional installation.
  • the existing holder and the possibility of hands-free calling encourage the user not to take the mobile phone in his hand while driving and in this way to make phone calls, so that driving safety is increased and the transmission power is not close to the head but via the external antenna is emitted. Since a mobile phone is usually taken with you when you get out of the car, the theft protection for the car radio is given. It is advantageous if the operating and telephone unit has at least one code memory, to which an external evaluation unit of the base part is assigned via the interface. In this way, it is possible to use a code card (“SIM card”), which is required for mobile phones, for example, to protect the car radio (or the base unit) from theft.
  • SIM card code card
  • the base part has a code memory to which the internal evaluation unit of the operating and telephone unit is assigned via the interface, since in this case it is also possible to telephone with an optional additional code card of the base part, if in the Control and telephone unit no code card is available.
  • the display on the display is electrically rotated by 90 ° if the operating and telephone unit is connected to the base part, since the display can thus be read without any particular difficulty even while driving.
  • the reading is made easier if an additional display is assigned to the operating and telephone unit via the interface.
  • the additional display can on the one hand be made larger and on the other hand can be arranged more favorably for the driver in the field of view.
  • control unit and telephone unit including the battery charging, is supplied with power from the base part via the interface, since in this way the battery serving the mobile phone is not only not discharged during use in the car, but is also recharged if necessary.
  • the microphone contained in the operating and telephone unit can be used in hands-free mode, it is often more expedient if the operating and telephone unit is used the interface is assigned to a hands-free microphone, since such a hands-free microphone can be brought close to the head of the driver (or front passenger).

  • This control and telephone unit BTE can either be electrically and mechanically connected to the base part BAS, as is the case with removable control panels of known car radios, or it can serve as a self-sufficient mobile phone, which will be described in more detail below.

It should also be mentioned that the dimensions of the base part are usually standardized, as a result of which the maximum dimensions of the operating and telephone unit BTE are fixed.
