Definitions

  • the invention relates to a shielded, electrical connector for SMD surface mounting on printed circuit boards, consisting of an insulating connector housing in which electrical connection elements are arranged, which are provided for contacting contacts of a complementary connector, wherein the circuit board opposite side of the connector housing with a Shielding is covered.
  • the shielding of electrical plug-in connections is required to improve the transmission performance (RF characteristics) and to largely reduce both internal and external interference signals.
  • the shielding of surface-mounted connectors is very expensive. Namely, it is not possible to solder a shielded SMD connector in a soldering machine for surface soldering technology. The thermal radiation necessary to solder the contacts would be reflected by the shield. Thus, when processing SMD connectors, it is first necessary to position the connector without shielding by means of a placement machine on a circuit board and to solder in a further work process, the fully populated PCB. Only then, in an additional manual or mechanical step, the assembly of the shield and their soldering.
  • a card edge connector is known, which is not intended for surface mounting, but is pressed in conventional press-fitting in the circuit board together with the shielding plate.
  • the shielding plate is provided for this purpose with a Einpresscardux which must be pressed into the printed circuit board to be contacted. In this way, the shield is firmly connected on one side with the circuit board. On the opposite side of the shield is inserted in undercut designs on the connector housing.
  • an electrically shielding cassette receptacle for a substrate printed circuit board with a connector attached thereto is covered with a shield plate, wherein the cover plate first by means of some mounting fingers, on the one longitudinal side, which are inserted in a gap passage at the mating side of the connector pre-assembled, then subsequently by means of obliquely angled contact pins on the other longitudinal side and surface soldering, be electrically connected to the circuit board.
  • the invention has for its object to form a connector of the type mentioned in that a shield plate provided on the connector and can be connected to ground-conducting traces of a circuit board without expensive soldering or press-fitting operations are necessary.
  • This object is achieved in a shielded electrical connector of the type mentioned by that resting on the plug housing shielding on the side facing the plug side of the connector for attachment to the plug housing has a front retaining edge, that the shield on the side opposite the plug side has a bend, forming a contact edge, for contacting with ground-conducting conductors the printed circuit board is provided that the shielding plate is held on the one hand on the front retaining edge on the connector housing, and that the shielding plate on the other hand spaced from the retaining edge, is held in the connector housing with the bend in an elongated chamber by means of latching hooks disposed therein.
  • the shield is therefore no longer soldered to the circuit board, but stops on the connector housing on the one hand by means of the retaining edge and on the other hand by a snap-in distance from the retaining edge. In this way, the shield can be easily clipped onto the connector housing.
  • the contacting of the ground-conducting conductor tracks of the printed circuit board is achieved automatically when the shield plate snaps into its final position on the connector housing by the contact edge either directly with the ground-conducting tracks of the circuit board or contact parts comes into connection, which are connected to the tracks.
  • the shield is inserted on the side of the retaining edge in pockets on the connector housing and latched on the side of the contact edge by means of openings on the housing, which are formed in the 90 ° bent contact edge and engage in the locking hooks provided on the connector housing are, preferably in a bag.
  • the contact edge can either be provided with resilient contact tabs that directly contact the ground-conducting tracks of the circuit board. According to a different embodiment, the contact edge can also engage in contact elements which are in electrical connection with the ground-conducting conductor tracks of the printed circuit board.
  • the shielding plate is provided with a bend which surrounds the intended for receiving a complementary connector side of the connector housing, and it is latched by means of locking tabs in the region of the opposite side of the connector housing to this.
  • the contact edge has recesses on the attack on Abletagen, which were soldered, for example, simultaneously with the soldering of the connector with the grounding conductor tracks.
  • Another advantage is that either either a one-sided or a multi-sided shielding can be used, wherein the shielding is merely postponed and conductively connected by corresponding contact elements with the circuit board.
  • a connector which consists of an insulating connector housing 1 and a resting shielding plate 2, which is provided with contact tongues 3, which ensure a grounding contact with a complementary plug.
  • the rear side of the shielding plate has a right-angled bend 6, which forms a contact edge and in which recesses 8 are formed, which engage when the bend is inserted into an elongate chamber 7 by means of the latching hooks 10 located there.
  • the further attached to the bend 6, resiliently formed contact tabs 9 make contact with ground conductor tracks 13 on a printed circuit board 12 ago.
  • FIG. 3 a connector according to a different embodiment is shown. Similar to the first embodiment, this connector consists of an insulating plug housing 1 and a resting shielding plate 2, which is provided with contact tongues 3, which ensure a grounding contact with a complementary plug. On the front side of the shielding plate, one or more fastening fingers 4 are provided, which engage in correspondingly formed pockets 5 of the connector housing, while the rear side has a rectangular bend 6, in which the recesses 8 are inserted, the insertion of the bend 6 in the elongated Lock chamber 7 by means of the latching hooks 10.
  • contact elements 11 which are fixedly positioned in the elongated chamber 7 and can be formed one or two-legged, wherein the contact elements can be introduced individually or connected to each other as a contact rail are.
  • FIG. 4 a connector according to another embodiment is shown, which shows a further shielding possibility for the connector.
  • the shielding plate 2 has as retaining edge a bend 32 which is pushed from the front over the insulating connector housing 1.
  • the shielding plate is provided with a plurality of recesses 15 which engage under Ablecarde 14.
  • a resilient transition 16 is provided, so that a secure connection between the shielding plate 2 and the Ablecarden 14 is ensured.
  • the shielding plate 2 additionally has resilient locking tabs 17, which engage when sliding the shielding into corresponding recesses 18 of the connector housing 1, which ensures that the shielding plate 2 is not solvable without tools.
  • FIG. 5 is the connector housing 1 of the connector of FIG. 4 shown with shielding contacts in a mounting cap.
  • rüch->rtigen part of the mounting cap 22 are a plurality of receiving pockets 23 which are equipped with individual Ablecarden 14.
  • the mounting cap 22 with connector housing 1 and the Ablecarden 14 is positioned by a placement machine on the circuit board and removed after the soldering process again.
  • FIG. 6 a connector according to another embodiment is shown, the components of the in the FIGS. 1 and 2 shown connector with those of in FIG. 4 shown connector combined.
  • the insulating plug housing 1 has a multi-sided shielding plate 2 with bend, wherein in the front plug-in area 20, a window-like opening 19 is recessed, in which the signal contacts of a complementary connector can be inserted.
  • a bead 21 in the lower and upper part of the shield plate, a bending of the shield plate is prevented.
  • the shielding plate is provided with a bend which is latched on the side facing away from the front side of the plug housing in a chamber.
