  • a longitudinal multi-component frame element for forming frames for example for windows, doors and separation walls, as described in the preamble of the first claim.

  • the frame elements disclosed in US-A-5.104.597 are mostly produced in lengths of several meters, for example up to 6 meters.
  • the frame elements are cut into members of the required desired dimensions, whereafter the thus obtained members are assembled to each other to form the frame.
  • US-A-5.104.597 however has the disadvantage that the barrier element is made in situ in the frame element, whereby the inner and outer portions are placed into a mould and the plastic material for making the barrier element is injected in between.
  • a frame element has the disadvantage that the shape of the mould must not only be adapted to the desired shape of the barrier element, but also to the shape and external dimensions of the inner and outer portion of the frame element. This is disadvantageous, especially because those moulds are rather expensive.
