Definitions
- the present invention relates to a shoe comprising a buttress, for maintaining the heel of the user's foot, located in the rear part of the shoe and provided with means of tightening to hold the foot.
- a shoe of this type is disclosed in French Patent No. 2,650,488. More specifically, this shoe has a buttress on the back which is hollowed out above sole assembly where the heel of the user's foot fits and on the other hand provided with a transverse strap, passing approximately above said heel; Moreover, lateral extensions, coming from the sides of the buttress, extend over the upper of the shoe up to a clamping device located on its front part and acting on the edges of a longitudinal opening made approximately in correspondence of the neck area of foot to ensure the user's foot is held.
- the structure of the buttress with a recess in the back for the heel is supposed to keep the mechanical properties of the shoe and tolerate deformation of the rear part when stresses tend to crush it, without breaking the buttress or make him lose his "nerve”.
- the lateral extensions connected to the clamping device which are arranged in correspondence of the instep area, are intended to cause forward traction of the buttress under the action of the clamping device to maintain the shape of the rod which, in fact, can no longer lie backwards.
- the heel is not returned to the buttress by direct action on the lateral extensions of the latter but by action on a part of the stem; more precisely, it is on the posterior attachment point located on the rod closest to the flexion of the user's foot, therefore on a part which is less resistant than the buttress.
- This arrangement which especially puts the flexible parts of the rod to contribution to cause the returning the heel has the effect of promoting the movement of the latter inside the buttress with, as a consequence, a foot which "sails" in the rear part of the shoe.
- the buttress thus produced creates a significant difference in the overall behavior and resistance of the shoe between the parts rear and front of the latter just at the arch of the foot; this being subject permanent and wide movements in the vertical and lateral direction, it follows friction between it and the buttress which are located just at the anterior border of this last and which are all the more important as the tightening on the instep is energetic.
- the present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks using a buttress of support of the heel of the foot, which is located in the rear part of the shoe and which is provided with its own clamping means for holding the foot. More specifically, the invention has for goal of ensuring the return of the heel of the foot in the buttress by direct action on it and without that the localization of tightening stresses occurs on small contact surfaces as much on the back as on the camber.
- Another object is to provide a buttress capable of supporting the rod in the rear part and on its sides to its front part by cooperating with the clamping device essentially at the extreme attachment points of the latter on the instep area, i.e. those located closer to the flexion fold and forefoot.
- the invention aims to distribute the stresses resulting from tightening over a large contact surface as much on the instep as on the heel and this, guaranteeing excellent foot hold.
- shoes including adapting footwear volume as needed individual is obtained by means of a clamping device acting on the edges of a longitudinal opening made in its front part corresponding substantially to the area of the user's instep, has a buttress arranged in its rear part above the sole to wrap the heel of the foot; lateral extensions from the buttress extend on the sides of the shoe towards the front part thereof where they are connected to the clamping device. It is characterized by the fact that, in the front part of the shoe, the lateral extensions of the buttress are interposed between an inner layer and an outer layer of the upper and by the fact that they go up on the sides of the shoe up to the longitudinal opening, the edges of which they materialize by their upper edge.
- the upper of the shoe is supported by the buttress of the rear part to the front part of the latter and practically over the entire corresponding zone at the arch of the foot. This avoids parasitic friction which may occur in this zone at the boundary of the latter with the part of the rod covering the forefoot.
- the buttress has a solid wall which extends in continuous from the rear part of the shoe located above the sole assembly until the opening longitudinal where its lateral extensions are connected to the clamping device. We ensure this way an overall wrap from the heel of the foot to the instep without creating small contact surfaces.
- the edges of the opening longitudinal materialized by the upper edge of the lateral extensions of the buttress are connected to the clamping device at a rear attachment point located closest to the fold of flexion of the user's foot.
- a movable clamping flap is fixed at the level of the sole and extends freely on a side of the shoe covering at least partially the corresponding lateral extension of the buttress up to the opening longitudinal where it is connected to the clamping device, and this in front of the rear attachment point of the latter which is located on the lateral extensions of the buttress closest to the fold of flexion of the foot.
- the edge of the longitudinal opening which is opposite the latter is also connected to the Tightening.
- the holding of the foot in the shoe is thus achieved with the tightening device of a part, by direct action on the two lateral extensions of the buttress at the point of attachment posterior, which is closest to the flexion fold of the foot and on the other hand, indirectly on the middle area of the instep between the movable flap and the lateral extension of the buttress which is opposite.
- This construction has the advantage of distributing the stresses of the shutter tightening on the lateral extension of the buttress which it covers up to the level of the instep this which avoids the localization of pressure on a small contact surface with the flank of the foot in the camber area.
- a movable clamping flap is implemented on each side of the shoe, which it covers, at least partially, since its attachment to the level of the sole assembly up to the longitudinal opening whose edges are materialized by the upper border of the lateral extensions of the buttress.
- the two parts clamps are connected to the clamping device in front of the rear attachment point which is located on the lateral extensions of the buttress as close as possible to the bending fold; this provision is essential to effectively ensure the return of the heel in the buttress by direct action on the lateral extensions of the latter.
- the lateral extensions of the buttress go up on the sides of the shoe until the longitudinal opening of which they materialize the edges but remain behind the upper edges of said clamping flaps which cooperate directly with each other through the clamping device to which they are connected. Consequently, the tightening stresses exerted on the movable flaps are distributed and diffused through the lateral extensions of the buttress which intervene at the way of a flexible shield with respect to the foot.
- an inextensible flexible band connects the two movable clamping flaps by freely surrounding and from the outside the rear part of the shoe as well as the buttress and the extensions side of the latter at their upper border.
- the buttress is kept very close to the foot in minimizing, even eliminating, the risks of deformation of the upper border of its lateral extensions which is subject to relatively high stresses due to the effort of tightening applied to the posterior attachment point located closest to the flexion of the foot.
- the edges of the longitudinal opening, materialized by the upper edge of the lateral extensions of the buttress are connected to the clamping device another attachment point, anterior, located closest to the forefoot.
- Lateral extensions of the buttress extend in this case, over the entire area of the arch of the foot and the movable flap clamp, or the two movable clamping flaps, is subject to the clamping device between the posterior and anterior attachment points located on the buttress extensions which delimit approximately the instep area.
- the buttress thus endowed with attachment means posterior and anterior extremes is kept in shape on the sides of the stem of the shoe which he reinforces up to the forefoot.
- the shoe shown schematically in Figures 1, 2 and 3 comprises, so known, a sole assembly 1 on which is mounted a rod 2 generally designated which has a front part 3 which covers the forefoot 36 and a rear part 4 which fits the heel 16 of the foot 26.
- the rod 2 is provided with a longitudinal opening 5 made approximately in correspondence of the instep area 6 of the user and a tightening device 9 acts on the edges 5 ′ of this opening 5 in order to adapt the footwear volume.
- a buttress 7 is disposed in the rear part 4 of the shoe, above the sole assembly 1, and wraps the heel 16 of the user's foot 26; 7 'lateral extensions from the buttress 7 extend over the sides 8 of the shoe towards the front part 3 of the latter where they are connected to the tightening device 9, for example using a lace 12 or any other flexible link, preferably inextensible.
- the lateral extensions 7 'of the buttress 7 are interposed, in the front part 3 of the shoe, between an inner layer and a layer outside of the rod 2, and go up on the sides 8 of the latter until the opening longitudinal 5 of which they materialize, by their upper edge 17, the edges 5 '.
- the lateral extensions 7 ′ are interposed between the inner layer or “lining” and the outer layer or quarter of “top” not shown.
- the outer layer, or “top” quarter is in fact formed on each side 8 by an external clamping means such as a movable flap 19 which covers partially the lateral extensions 7 'of the buttress 7 up to the longitudinal opening 5.
- the movable flaps 19 are connected to the clamping device 9 at various attachment points 20, preferably beyond the edges 5 'of the opening 5.
- the buttress has a solid wall which extends continuously from the rear part 4 of the shoe situated above the sole assembly 1 up to the front part 3 where its lateral extensions 7 ′ are connected to the tightening device 9 by their upper edge 17. More precisely, the edges of the lateral extensions 7 ′ are connected to the tightening device 9 in a rear attachment point 10 located closest to the flexion 11 of the user's foot. In this way, the clamping force is applied directly to the upper edge 17 of the buttress 7 at the rear attachment point 10 while further forward on the area of the instep 6, i.e. at attachment points 20, this is indirectly via movable clamping flaps 19.
- attachment points 10 and 20 is intended, at means of the clamping device 9, of inducing on the foot 26 of the user a resulting force obliquely directed towards the rear of the shoe, as indicated by arrow 14, and which passes practically at the bottom 27 of the buttress, at its junction with the sole assembly 1; foot 26 of the user is thus firmly held in the shoe, in particular by through the clamping flaps 19, and returned towards the rear on the buttress 7 which follows the heel 16.
- the movable flaps 19 being placed in overlap of the lateral extensions 7 'of the buttress 7, these act as a filter-shield with respect to of foot 26 by distributing over a large area the tightening stresses to which subject the movable flaps 19.
- an inextensible flexible strip 30 is advantageously used to connect the flaps clamping mobiles 19; this strip 30 freely surrounds, and from the outside, the rear part 4 of the shoe with the buttress 7 and the lateral extensions of the latter at their upper edge 17.
- this guide means 31, 32 is provided on the upper edge 17 of the buttress 7.
- this guide means can consist of a groove 31, as illustrated in FIG. 3, or of a loop 32 shown schematically in broken lines in Figure 2.
- the lateral extensions 7 'of the buttress are extended to the forefoot 36 where they are connected to the clamping device 9 in one another anterior attachment point 30.
- the wall of the buttress 7 is produced according to a variable thickness, greater in the rear part 4 of the shoe, where a large rigidity is required, only in the front part 3 where the edges 5 'of the longitudinal opening 5 must be relatively flexible. Also, this thickness can be greater at proximity of the sole assembly 1 along the longitudinal opening 5.
- the buttress 7 does not create an excessive demarcation between the rigidity of the part rear 4 and the flexibility of the front part 3 of the shoe but allows the rigidity of tapering from back to front.
- the rod 2 is thus supported by the buttress 7 from the rear part 4 to the front part 3 without creating parasitic friction at the edge of the anterior edge of the buttress 7 with the camber 46 of the foot 26.
- edge 5 ′ of the opening 5 opposite it is also provided with attachment means 20, such as the flap 29, located intermediate between the attachment point posterior 10 and the anterior attachment point 30.
