Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for processing a covering paper strip, at which the topping paper strip is provided with a glue application and from the topping paper strip successively topping papers for connecting cigarettes and filter plugs be separated.
- the invention also relates to a device in a filter attachment machine for processing a covering paper strip with a Strip guide, a glue application device assigned to the strip guide and a cutter for separating topping sheets for joining of cigarettes and filter plugs from the topping paper strip.
- the manufacture of filter cigarettes is done on filter attaching machines by groups from axially aligned tobacco rods and filter sections Wrapped with glued topping sheets.
- the wrapping of the cigarettes often has a zone of desired air permeability, which is created by perforations of the shell. Through these perforations or small holes, air flows from outside when you pull the cigarettes inside, which has a favorable influence on the smoke values of the cigarettes.
- the perforations can be in the wrapping of the finished filter cigarettes or in the topping paper strips be introduced before the topping sheets are separated from the latter and wrapped around to connect the components of the filter cigarettes become. An arrangement showing this is described in U.S. Patent 4,281,670.
- the covering paper strip is usually after perforating and before cutting Apply a layer of glue in topping sheets.
- This glue application saves glue-free zones on the covering paper strips in the areas of the perforations out. These glue-free zones prevent the perforation holes from going through the Glue to be closed again.
- the formation of such glue-free zones during the application of the glue requires special training and / or control the glue application device.
- the invention has for its object a further method and another Specify device of the type described above.
- this object is achieved according to the invention solved in that in selected areas of the covering paper strip applied glue is inactivated.
- the invention is essentially on the covering paper strips continuous layer of glue applied.
- the invention therefore looks very advantageous Instead of glue-free zones, place areas of inactivated glue on the covering paper strip before, so that expensive and fault-prone precautions in the glue application device for the production of discontinuously successive glue-free zones can be omitted. That means a significant simplification the glue application device without affecting the beneficial effect of glue-free zones must be dispensed with.
- the glue in the selected areas by evaporation the glue or a solvent contained in the glue by means of laser radiation is deactivated. This is a fast and precise generation of Areas of inactivated glue at any selectable locations on the base paper strip provided.
- Claim 4 relates here to a process variant in which the for the separation of the topping sheets Tipping paper strips also used laser radiation to inactivate the Glue is used in the border areas adjacent to the separating cut, so that inactive on both sides of the cut, in particular containing solvent-free glue Zones are formed.
- Claim 5 is in the coated paper Laser beam producing perforation holes simultaneously to inactivate the Glue used in an area around the perforation holes.
- Claim 6 relates the particularly effective use of a laser for simultaneous cutting the topping sheets from the topping paper strip, for perforating the topping paper strip and to inactivate the glue in the edge areas of the cuts and the Perforations.
- Claim 7 further develops the method according to the invention.
- the invention is based on a device of the type specified at the outset lying task solved in that means for inactivating the in selected Surface areas of the covering paper strip applied glue provided are. Continuations, further training and advantageous refinements of the device according to the invention are set out in subclaims 9 to 16.
- Claim 9 relates to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the glue application device.
- Claims 10 to 13 deal with preferred means for inactivating the glue in certain areas of the covering paper strip
- claims 14 to 16 relate to preferred means for aligning the laser beam for covering paper strips.
- the advantage of the invention is in particular that the formation of glue-free Zones during the glue application is omitted, which is the process of gluing the Base paper strip and the glue application device significantly simplified.
- the leakage of glue to the Edges of the topping sheets wrapped around the groups and the addition of in the perforation reliably prevents the covering material.
- the usage of a laser for generating areas of inactivated glue by evaporation the glue or the solvent contained in the glue makes the process regardless of the format of the cigarettes and the topping material So when changing the format, no machine adjustments are required.
- the generation of the areas of inactivated glue is very flexible because of the location and the expansion of these areas on the tipping paper strip by adjusting the laser radiation are largely freely selectable.
- the laser used is also used to deactivate the glue because an extraordinarily good allocation of the areas was deactivated Glue to the cut lines and perforations and an effective use the laser power.
- the machine shown in FIG. 1 is a filter attachment machine of the type MAX from Hauni Maschinenbau AG with a laser working Separation arrangement and a laser perforation arrangement.
- a filter attachment machine of the type MAX from Hauni Maschinenbau AG with a laser working Separation arrangement and a laser perforation arrangement.
- Such a machine is known for example from US Pat. No. 4,281,670. She points out the following Details on an infeed drum 1 is transferred to a cigarette manufacturing machine produced cigarettes in two relay drums 2, which the staggered Unstuck the supplied cigarettes and in rows of two with one Deliver the space between the cigarettes to a compilation drum 3.
- the filter rods pass from a magazine 4 onto a cutting drum 6 cut by two circular knives 7 into filter plugs of twice the working length, staggered on a relay drum 8, from a sliding drum 9 to a row aligned stopper and aligned by an accelerator drum 11 into the spaces between the rows of cigarettes on the assembly drum 3 filed.
- the cigarette filter cigarette groups are pushed together, so that they lie axially close together. Then they are transferred from a transfer drum 12 taken over.
- a covering paper strip 13 is by means of a reel 14 Draw-off rollers 16 are drawn off.
- the strip 13 becomes a sharp one Edge pre-crusher 17 directed around by a gluing device 18 glued and cut on a cutting drum 19.
- the separated topping sheets (Connection sheets) are attached to the cigarette filter groups on the Transfer drum 12 attached and on a roller drum 22 by means of a rolling hand 23 rolled around the cigarette filter groups.
- the finished groups Double filter cigarettes are placed on a drying drum 24 of a cutting drum 26 supplied and on this by cutting through the center of the filter plug Assembled into single filter cigarettes, while defective filter cigarettes be ejected.
- One with a transfer drum 27 and a collecting drum 28 cooperating turning device 29 turns a row of filter cigarettes and simultaneously transfers them into the via the transfer drum 27 and the Collecting drum 28 through unturned filter cigarette row.
- the filter cigarettes arrive at an ejection drum 32, on which the head of the filter cigarettes is also scanned before the ejection process.
- a depositing drum 34 cooperating with a brake drum 33 sets the filter cigarettes on a lay-off belt 36.
- 37 denotes a separating arrangement, which the figure 3 in an enlarged perspective view shows.
- 38 denotes a perforating device, which is shown in perspective in FIG is.
- Figures 2 and 3 show the relevant device or arrangement schematic and not to scale.
- FIG. 2 shows the perforating device 38 of the exemplary embodiment of the invention Filter attachment machine shown in Figure 1 in a schematic perspective View.
- the strip made of glued connecting paper is again designated with 13, from which in the region of the drum 19 connecting sheets 13a are separated become.
- the perforating arrangement 38 is arranged downstream of the gluing device 18 and has a laser 42 controlled by a control arrangement 41, which emits a pulsed laser beam 43.
- the laser beam 43 is from one Deflecting mirror 44 and deflected by a partially transparent mirror 46 in two same partial beams 43a and 43b split.
- the partial beam 43b becomes partially transparent Mirror 46 is simultaneously deflected towards the covering paper strip 13.
- Another mirror 47 directs the one passing through the partially transparent mirror 46 Partial jet 43a also towards the covering paper strip 13.
- the partial beams 43a and 43b are focused by optics 48, of which only one is shown in FIG. 2, in two perforation tracks 49 and 49a on the covering paper strips 13, where they produce perforations 51 and 51a, respectively.
- Two-stage diffractive lenses are provided as optics 48.
- the intensity is denoted by l
- the distance from the optical axis of the lens in the focal plane on the moving covering paper strip 13 is denoted by D.
- This diagram characterizes the formation of the diffractive lenses 48. It shows that approximately 90% of the beam power of the laser is concentrated in a central field of radius D 1 around the optical axis of the lens. The remaining approximately 10% of the laser beam power is distributed in an outer field which surrounds the central field in a ring and has the outer diameter D 2 . The diameter of the outer field is about 3: 1 to the diameter of the central field.
- this optic leads to perforations 51, which are shown enlarged in FIG. 4 as section IV from FIG. 3.
- the high beam power concentrated in the central field 52 of the laser beam 43a or 43b impinging on the moving, glued covering paper strips 13 produces the desired perforations 51.
- These surface regions 54 which are covered with inactive glue, act like glue-free zones "without the need for complicated measures when applying the glue.
- the laser beam used for the perforation is advantageously used at the same time for the production thereof glue-free zones "used.
- the energy of the laser beam in the outer field 53 is chosen so high that it the glue and / or the solvent contained in the glue evaporates and thereby inactivated the glue.
- the glue becomes or becomes volatile Glue components or solvents due to the laser energy concentrated in the outer field removed from the surface of the topping paper strip 13.
- the energy in the outside should not be chosen so high that in visible traces of fire occur in the annular area 54.
- FIG. 3 shows the separating arrangement 37 shown in FIG. 1 in an enlarged, schematic, perspective representation.
- One from the control arrangement 41 Controlled laser 42a emits a laser beam 56, which from deflection mirrors 57 and 58 is deflected to an optic 59, which focuses it in a cutting line 61, along the one already perforated in the embodiment shown Covering paper strips 13 separate individual sheets of covering paper become.
- the deflection mirrors 57 and 58 can be pivoted by means of drives 63 and 64, around the laser beam 56a focused from the optics 59 towards the covering strip 13 for cutting across the covering paper strip guided over the cutting drum 19 13 to move.
- the drives 63 and 64 with the control arrangement 41 connected.
- the optics 59 are designed as a two-stage diffractive lens which focuses a laser beam onto the covering paper strip 13 guided over the cutting drum 19, the intensity profile of which is shown in FIG. 5.
- This diffractive optics 59 thus coincides with the optics 48 already described above. If the laser beam 56a is thus guided transversely to the conveying direction 39 of the covering paper strip by means of the deflecting mirrors 57 and 58 pivoted by the drives 63 and 64, it cuts a covering sheet 62 from the covering paper strip 13 along a cutting line 61. This results, as shown in FIG. 4, in a separation cut 66 which is delimited on both sides by areas 67 of inactivated glue.
- Devices of the type designation IMPACT 3000 from LUMONICS GmbH, Junkersstrasse 5, D-82178 Puchheim, DE can be used as lasers. These are CO 2 lasers that can emit pulsed laser radiation with a very short beam duration and very high energy content. Diffractive lenses are sold, for example, by COHERENT, Ing., 2301 Lindbergh Street, Auburn, CA 95602, USA or LASER COMPONENTS GmbH, Werner-von-Siemens-Strckee 15, D-82140 Olching, Optical arrangements 68 of the in FIG. 3 shown are manufactured and sold as scanning modules by GENERAL SCANNING GmbH, Maximilian Forum, Lochhamer Strasse 11, D-82152 Martinsried, for example.
- two separate laser arrangements 37 and 38 are used for perforating and separating the topping sheets from the topping paper strip 13. It is of course also possible to combine the functions of separating and perforating in one arrangement with a powerful laser 69, the beam 70 of which with a beam splitter unit 71. B. is divided by means of a partially transparent mirror 72 into two power beams 73 and 74 which are guided to the perforating arrangement 38 and to the separating arrangement 37.
- the beam guidance from the beam splitter unit 71 to the perforating arrangement 38 and to the separating arrangement 37 has deflection means in the form of mirrors 75 and possibly further beam guidance means not shown in the drawing.
- a continuous wave laser can also advantageously be used as the radiation source, the permanent radiation of which is pulsed as required by a corresponding, known shutter arrangement with shutter disks 77 driven by motors 76.
