Description
The present invention relates to an accessory for connecting an electrical conductor such as an aluminum cable to a contact pad of an electrical appliance such as a circuit breaker, and a terminal equipped with such an accessory.
Conventional terminals are designed to connect copper cables to the ranges of devices such as circuit breakers, but are not suitable for connecting aluminum cables. As a result, the user, when he wishes to use aluminum cables, is required to replace the kit formed by the cage and the screw with another kit adapted to the connection of aluminum cables.
One of the reasons is that aluminum has a strong tendency to oxidize in the open air, resulting in aluminum cables during the service life being covered with insulating alumina deteriorating the quality. contact between the cable and the beach.
The other reason is that aluminum has a high coefficient of expansion due to changes in temperature. However, the circuit breakers being powered by variable currents pass through alternating heating and cooling phases. This results in temperature variations causing dimensional variations of the cables by differential expansion. However, in general, the cables are in contact on the one hand, with the beach made mostly of copper, on the other hand, either with the steel screw, or with the cage also made of steel. However, these three materials have different coefficients of expansion. As a result, during the cooling phases, they do not shrink in the same way. This causes a loosening of the clamping phenomenon which on the one hand, in itself decreases the quality of the electrical contact and on the other hand, promotes the formation of a layer of alumina may also deteriorate the electrical contact.
Several solutions have been devised to overcome these disadvantages.
One of these solutions is described in DE 4026037. In this document, the cable is brought into contact with the beach by a steel cage moved in translation by the terminal screw. In order to alleviate the problem of the oxidation of aluminum, the copper pad and the aluminum cage have respectively two opposite grooves forming elongate claws able to pass through the layer of alumina covering the cable, so as to improve the contact between the beach and the cage.
In this document, one of the aforementioned problems has thus been solved by the realization of a specific aluminum cable connection system, which by the presence of these claws has a high cost price.
Another solution is known in which the terminal is constituted by an aluminum block comprising on the one hand an elongated passage for the passage of the track and on the other hand a threaded orifice intended for the passage of the terminal screw also made of aluminum. In this embodiment, the bottom wall of the cage has a U-shaped section so as to adapt to the shape of the cable, and the screw has a curved end so that the cable is trapped between the bottom of the cage and the screw. In this embodiment, all the components being made of aluminum, there is no differential expansion. The lack of differential expansion of the various elements, and the fact that the cable is surrounded tightly satisfactorily solve the problem of expansion of aluminum cables and alumina formation on the cable. However, this solution still has certain drawbacks on the one hand, the fact that this cage requires a large thickness from where a significant amount of alloy necessary, and secondly, the fact that the cage being susceptible it even to oxidize requires to be tinned. This results in a delicate terminal to manufacture, expensive and cumbersome.
The present invention solves these problems and proposes a connection accessory making it possible to use standard terminals to make the connection of aluminum cables in a simple and reliable manner.
A cet effet, la présente invention a pour objet un accessoire de raccordement selon la revendication 1.For this purpose, the present invention relates to a connection accessory according to claim 1.
Thus, when it is intended to connect aluminum cables, it is no longer necessary to replace the entire terminal, a standard terminal can be used.

According to a particular characteristic, the pad is fixed on the beach by means of a support, said support comprising an elastic blade fixed by one of its ends on the pad and having a bent portion under the pad extending substantially parallel to said pad, so as to allow the elastic clamping of the range between the pad and the curved portion.
According to another characteristic, the accessory being intended to be mounted in the cage of an electrical terminal, it further comprises at least one lug extending from the plane of the bent portion in a direction inclined with respect to said plane. away from the pad, said at least one leg being supported on a wall of the cage so as to absorb the differences in expansion between the various elements involved in tightening.
Advantageously, the at least one leg is integral with the blade.
Preferably, the support comprises three legs arranged in a triangle.
Advantageously, the curved portion has on its face facing the pad a boss adapted to allow the mounting of the pad on beaches of different thicknesses.
The invention also relates to a terminal equipped with an accessory comprising the previously mentioned features taken alone or in combination.
The terminal may be of the fixed cage or mobile cage type.
