Description

The present invention relates to a connection / disconnection module of isolated electrical conductor pairs. Such modules are particularly intended for the constitution of connection assemblies and mixing connections between pairs of conductors.

Document EP-A-0 248 743 discloses a modular device for connecting insulated conductor pairs. This device comprises an insulating support, two nesting stacks of tubular contacts in the support, guide means allowing axial relative displacement, but not angular between each contact and the support, and an actuating screw ensuring that relative translation between two of the contacts side by side and the support.

In this known device, the contacts are all identical. Each of them has its two insulation displacement ends, for the connection of a conductor in one of the insulation displacement ends, and has one end plugged into the other end of another contact in each stack.

The support comprises plugs themselves pluggable, which are retained on a metal base and connected to the ground and which hold internally between them the two stacks of contacts. Passages are provided in the sockets, being opposite the self-cutting ends of the contacts. They receive the electrical conductors, which are connected in the insulation displacement ends by the simultaneous relative movement between the side-by-side contacts and one of the sockets, provided by actuation of the screw then anchoring in the base.

The removal of the stacked contacts can also be achieved by actuating the screw and removing it from the base, for unplugging resulting from the previously stacked contacts.

This known device may also include a surge protector for protecting equipment connected to the electrical conductors. This surge protector is removably mounted on an intermediate socket in the stack of sockets. It has two line protection terminals, connected to the two upper contacts of the two contact stacks, and a ground terminal electrically connected to the intended conductive screw.

  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a connection / disconnection module according to the invention, with protection associated with this module,
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 are two exploded front and back views of the module of FIG. 2, and
  • Figures 5 and 6 are two sectional views of the module of Figure 2.

The connection / disconnection modules of FIGS. 1 and 2 are described simultaneously, specifying their essential differences with respect to these figures.

Each of the modules comprises two connection plugs 1 and 2 and an insulating support 3, on which the two plugs are mounted opposite and are plugged into one another and into the support.

These pins 1 and 2 are each assigned to the connection of a pair of insulated electrical conductors. For this purpose, the plug 1 comprises two first tubular contacts identical to each other, not visible but designated hereinafter by the reference 11, and a first pusher 12 mounted to move on a first end of these contacts. The pusher 12 maintains these contacts side by side and ensures the connection of a first pair of conductors in the first end of the contacts. It comprises two passages 13, provided transversely to the contacts and opposite their first end, for receiving conductors. The second plug 2 similarly comprises two second identical contacts to each other but not to the first ones, which are not visible in these figures, but designated hereinafter by the reference 21, and a second pusher 22 movable on the first end of these contacts. This second pusher maintains the two second contacts side by side. It has two passages 23 transverse to the second contacts and located opposite their first end, for connecting a second pair of conductors inserted in these passages to the second contacts.

The second ends of the first two and second contacts are the plug-in ends of the plugs one inside the other.

The support 3 defines a base 30 of rectangular overall shape and has a transverse connecting stud protruding on a connection face 31 of the base. This pad is designated differently by the reference numeral 5 in FIG. 1 and the reference numeral 6 in FIG. 6. It is of parallelepipedal overall shape, the stud 6 being substantially more protruding than stud 5. It is provided on one of the parts terminals of the base. As a variant, this pad may be non-terminal, while being median or not on the base.

Plots 5 and 6 have the common function of inserting the plugs 1 and 2. They include the one and the other for this purpose, two first inner housings identical to one another, not visible in 1 and 2, but designated hereinafter by the reference 61. These first two housings, in one and the other of the pads, are provided side by side, are parallel to the base 30 and are open on both sides. else of the stud, on two opposite faces of plugs 1 and 2 in the stud.

The stud 6 also makes it possible to provide an additional protection function for equipment connected to the pairs of conductors connected by the connection / disconnection module of FIG. 2. It comprises for this purpose three additional housings, which are lateral for two d 'between them 63 and open on the one hand in the first two homes, and on the other hand on the face of the stud 6 opposite the base, and which is median for the third 64 of these additional housing and opens on the one hand through the base 30 and also on the face of the stud 6 opposite the base. Two third contacts 65 are mounted in the two lateral housings 63 and a so-called ground contact 66 in the median housing 64.

The connection / disconnection module of FIG. 2 comprises, in correspondence with this pad 6, a three-pole surge protection module 7, which plugs into the pad 6 and thus connects to the two third contacts 65 and to the ground contact 66 in the latter. .

The more detailed description of the modules of these FIGS. 1 and 2 is made with particular reference to FIGS. 3 and 4 and / or 5 and 6 relating to the connection / disconnection module of FIG. 2, except that the specific provisions to the additional function of the latter, the connection / disconnection modules of Figures 1 and 2 are otherwise identical to each other.

The first two contacts 11 of the first plug 1 are tubular, while the second contacts 21 of the second plug 2 are flat.

The first end of the first contacts has two opposed insulation displacement slots 14. The opposite second end also has two opposite slots 15, not self-shrinking, but of elasticity of this plugging end.

The first end of the second contacts has an insulation displacement axial slot 24. The second end has another axial slot 25, non-insulation displacement, but elasticity of the second end. Its width is substantially equal to the inside diameter of the second end of each first contact, for their elastic plugging.

The first pusher 12 defines a body having two identical pipes 17, which are projecting side by side on a so-called front side of the pusher and receive the first ends of the first contacts. Each of these pipes has a slot 17A, which is superimposed on one of the slots 15 of one of the contacts 11 and comes above the slot 25 of one of the contacts 21 when the pins 1 and 2 are plugged in the stud 6 and one in the other. The passages 13 in this first pusher are defined by two other pipes, which are projecting side by side on an upper face of this pusher and are designated by these same references 13, to receive the two conductors to be connected simultaneously to the first two contacts in the first pusher 12. The tubing 13 are transverse to the tubing 17 and open into the latter, respectively. They have only one open end, front or upper depending on the tubing, their other end being closed.

The second pusher 22 has two grooves 27, internally deep and side by side, which receive the first ends of the second contacts 21 and open into two recesses 28 opposite said front of this pusher. It also comprises the two passages 23, transverse to the grooves 27 and opening therein, for receiving the two conductors to be connected in the first self-cutting end of the contacts 21. The front ends of the grooves 27 and the upper ends of the passages 23 are alone open, the opposite ends being closed.

The first housing 61 for inserting the plugs 1 and 2 in the stud 6 and one in the other are of cylindrical shape and inner diameter just provided for the insertion of the tubes 17 therein. They have a first circular opening 67, of the same diameter as them, of inlet of the tubes 17. They have a second adapted opening 69, of rectangular shape, to receive the second plug-in ends of the second contacts 21. They also have a peripheral flange 68 around each second opening, which is complementary to each of the recesses 28 provided in the second pusher and is embedded in one of these.

The two lateral contacts 65 in the stud are flat and straight contacts. The innermost end in the stud of each of these contacts forms a tab 65A, on which slide the slot 17A of one of the tubes 17, the slots 15 of one of the contacts 11 and the slot 25 of the one of the contacts 21, when the plugs 1 and 2 are plugged into the stud and one into the other. The other so-called upper end of each of these contacts in the stud has an axial slot 65B of elastic clamping of the corresponding line tab of the surge protector interlocking in this slot.

The ground contact 66 in the pad is also a flat contact, longer than the contacts 65, but not straight. It has a terminal portion cut in U, which is projecting under the base, and whose end branch forms a friction spring 66A. This terminal friction spring 66A is substantially parallel to the base 30 and at a relatively short distance therefrom. The other end of the ground contact 66 has an axial slot 66B, in which the grounding tab of the surge protector engages.

The plug-in surge protector module on the stud, which has been illustrated in FIG. 2, is not shown in the following other figures. It is easily understood as far as this module has a recess in its lower face, which is of complementary shape of the pad and in which the two line tabs and the ground tab of the surge protector are protruding, so that the surge protector module intermesh on the stud with the lugs of line and ground meshing in the two contacts 65 and the contact 66.

Referring more particularly to FIGS. 3, 4 or 5, it can be seen that the base 30 serves as a slide for the connection plug 2. For this purpose, the base 30 has an axial slot 36 which is relatively narrow in its portion on the side. pad 6 and wider in its opposite portion. The pusher 22 comprises in correspondence a stepped foot 26 for its slide assembly on the base. The stepped foot is inserted through the wide portion of the slot 36 and is retained and guided along the narrow portion of this slot.

In addition, as appears in particular in Figures 4 and 5, the support 3 is equipped for its removable assembly on a holding rail and assembly of connection / disconnection modules identical side by side. Peripheral rims protrude below the base. The longitudinal flanges 37 truncated in height relative to the transverse flanges and a transverse tab 38 secured to the transverse flange located under the stud 6 serve as a support on the rail, on either side thereof. A resilient lug 39 integral with the other transverse flange and opposite the lug 38 ensures the attachment of the support 3 and thus the connection / disconnection module on this rail. It is retractable using a screwdriver or the like for the desired stall of the connection module / disconnection. This rail is a standard metal rail, in particular a rail "DIN 35", on which the end contactor 66A of the mass contact is in elastic support.

Les figures 5 et 6 montrent le module de connexion/déconnexion dans une position initiale des fiches 1 et 2 sur la base 30 du support 3, les poussoirs 12 et 22 étant eux-mêmes dans une position initiale sur leurs contacts respectifs 11 et 21.Figures 5 and 6 show the connection / disconnection module in an initial position of the plugs 1 and 2 on the base 30 of the support 3, the pushers 12 and 22 themselves being in an initial position on their respective contacts 11 and 21.

Note that in the initial position of each of the buttons on its two contacts, the two passages 13 or 23 of the pusher are located just end of the insulation displacement slots 14 or 24 of the contacts 11 and 21 and are not closed by the contacts. Note also that each of the pushers is movable in one direction on its two contacts, from its initial position to a final position. In this final position of the pusher, the passages 13 or 23 will be closed by the contacts concerned.

A slight peripheral shoulder 11A on the intermediate portion of the contacts 11 and two small lateral teeth 21A on the intermediate portion of the contacts 21 allow stable holding of the contacts in their pusher and allow the movement of each of the pushers in one direction only on the contacts.

In addition, two wide lateral teeth 21 B on the flat contacts 21 are provided substantially at the same level as the bottom of their elastic slot 25. They allow, on the one hand the stopping of the flat contacts 21 in their housings 61 in the stud 5, by abutment of the teeth 21 B against the edge of the rectangular opening 69 of these housing. On the other hand, they allow the pusher 22 to stop in its final position on the flat contacts, by abutting the bottom of the recesses 27 against these teeth, while the pusher 22 itself comes into abutment against the stud 6.

The procedure for making the connection / disconnection of two pairs of insulated conductors is specified with particular reference to these FIGS. 5 and 6. The connection of these pairs of conductors is carried out in two stages using a clamp, by actuating the two pushers one after the other from their initial position to their final position on their contacts and by plugging resulting from the two cards.

In a first step, the first plug 1 is partially or completely withdrawn from the support 3 for connection to the second plug 2 of that of the pairs of conductors assigned to it. The partial or total withdrawal of the first plug 1 is done by pulling on the pusher 12, which carries with it its two tubular contacts. It thus makes it possible to release sufficiently or completely the corresponding face of the stud for the support of one of the jaws of the clamp against this face, while the other jaw will bear against the rear face of the pusher 22. The two leads are inserted into the two passages 23 of the pusher 22. The clamp, put in place to ensure the grip of the pusher 22 and the pad 6 between its jaws, then ensures the actuation of this pusher 22 in the final position on its two contacts 21, they themselves then in final position in the housing 61 of the stud 6. The resulting connection of the two conductors in the insulation displacement slots 24 of the contacts 21 is therefore permanent.

In a second step, the two insulated conductors of the other pair are inserted into the two passages 13 of the pusher 12 of the first plug 1, this first plug being partially plugged into the stud 6 after or before insertion. Conductors in the passages 13. The first pusher 12 is then actuated in its final position on its tubular contacts 11, with the aid of the clamp whose jaws ensure the grip of the pusher 12 and the pad 6 or the pusher 22 between them. As a result, the contacts 11 are fully plugged into the housings 21 of the stud and the contacts 61 already in the final position therein. On the other hand, this results in the plugging of the tubes 17 to the bottom of the housings 61, while at the same time the two conductors are engaged in the self-displacement slots 14 of the contacts 11. The connection of these two conductors to the two contacts It is then also definitive.

The connection of the two pairs of conductors connected to the plugs 1 and 2 results from the plugging of these two plugs into one another in the stud 6. Their disconnection for the cutting of the lines thus connected is done by unplugging the plugs, using a screwdriver or the like operated lever or even the finger, for the separation of one and / or the other of the pins of the stud 6. A test operation can be performed similarly by unplugging the plugs.

Protection of the connections in the connection / disconnection module, against surrounding aggressions, can also be ensured by the use and confinement of a grease in the module.

Advantageously, the pushers 12 and 13 are transparent to facilitate the direct verification of the correct connection of the conductors in the contacts.

The simplified concept of the connection / disconnection module, with a reduced number of parts and preassembled to form the two plugs 1 and 2 plug in the support and thus one in the other, makes the procedure very simple and easy, without any organ special integrated for this purpose in the module. It also reduces the cost of the module and the duration of the operating mode accordingly.

As a variant given with respect to FIG. 1, the connection / disconnection module without associated protection comprises the two connection plugs 1 and 2 and the insulating support 3 of the module of FIG. 2 and a mask, which then replaces the surge protection module 7. and is used to come to cap the pad 6. This connection / disconnection module may or may not be equipped with two contacts 65 and the ground contact 66 in the pad 6. Such a cache may be similar in shape to that of the module surge protector, or of simplified form.
