Definitions
- Persteril as a disinfectant, which is a aqueous solution containing from 36% to 40% by weight of peracetic acid and from 7 to 10% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, diluted to 0.1% -1%, in the sugar manufacturing. They found that this composition cannot replace formalin, but may, however, limit the use of this latest.
- Ekarox® B10 which is an aqueous solution containing 2.5% by weight of peracetic acid and 30% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, was a valid alternative to the implementation of formalin, when extracting sugar from sugar beet, at a concentration of total active ingredients (peracetic acid + hydrogen peroxide) included between 200 and 500 ppm.
- European patent application EP 0678 123 published on October 25 1995 reports on a process for disinfecting aqueous sugar solutions obtained during the extraction, using two aqueous solutions peracetic acid, one having a molar ratio of hydrogen peroxide to peracetic acid greater than or equal to 12, which is introduced into the waters of pressed pulp, and the other having a hydrogen peroxide molar ratio over peracetic acid less than or equal to 10, which is introduced into the fraction central diffusers.
- the plaintiff therefore sought to remedy the drawbacks encountered when using peracetic acid in the manufacture of sugar, without compromising the effectiveness of disinfection, or causing negative side effects.
- the subject of the invention is a method of acid disinfection peracetic, sugar solutions circulating in an extraction unit of the sugar from sugar beet, characterized in that a only aqueous peracetic acid solution with a peroxide molar ratio of hydrogen on peracetic acid less than or equal to 4, by introducing it at least one point in the installation upstream of the diffusion drum (s), and at at least one point in the water circuit from the pressing of pulps before recycling to the diffusion drum.
- the peracetic acid solution is also introduced into the circuits of transfer of the sugar solution.
- the peracetic acid solution is also introduced into the circuits of transfers of distillation residues, which may be recycled to diffusers.
- the peracetic acid solution is also sprayed on the beets before cutting into pods.
- the solution implemented in the process as described previously is prepared from a commercial composition which contains 10% to 30% and preferably 15% to 25% by weight of acid peracetic, from 15% to 25% by weight of hydrogen peroxide and from 15% to 25% acetic acid. and particularly from a composition aqueous containing about 15% by weight of peracetic acid and 23% by weight of hydrogen peroxide.
- This solution is continuously introduced into the circuits of the installation so as to maintain an initial concentration in peracetic acid between 10 and 300 ppm (parts per million), and preferably between 20 and 50 ppm.

Abstract
Description
- La concentration en acide lactique dans le jus vert est restée constante durant toute la durée de l'essai, le Ph évoluant entre 5,7 et 5,9 ;
- la pureté du jus vert est restée supérieure à 89% pendant toute la durée de l'essai ;
- la consommation en sel de chaux a été réduite de près de 10% comparée aux consommations habituelles ;
- aucune concentration résiduelle en peroxyde n'est décelée dans le jus vert; les pulpes ou les mélasses ;
- la mise en oeuvre du procédé a une influence sur la coloration du sucre blanc ;
- on constate une meilleure pressabilité des pulpes, engendrant une dimi-nution d'énergie à la déshydratation ;
