Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mask traditionally made up of a fencer carcass including a rigid protective face intended to cover the face and extending towards the rear in its upper part by a gallery partially protecting the head and its part low, in lateral extension of the gallery and the front, by an attached neck protection flap.
- the protective face rigid is traditionally constituted by a canvas metallic or wire mesh forming very meshes tight, obtained from a metallic wire of a appropriate diameter.
- this one is also obtained by a grid of the same type made separately and connected to the face by through a peripheral link ring, subsequently covered by a material cover plastic, for aesthetic reasons.
- a mesh mask presents the downside of making the face of both opponents during of a fight.
- the subject of the invention is a new provision which, while overcoming the disadvantages traditional masks, does not present such risks.
- the invention therefore relates to a mask fencer comprising a protective face intended to cover the face and fixed on a carcass of support formed by a one-piece shell surrounding the head, said protective face comprising a part of vision realized in a full transparent material and minus a ventilation section provided with orifices.
- each part ventilation is covered with a curved pierced plate orifices, made of a material resistant to punching without risk of bursting, said plate being nested in a rebate of the same thickness formed in the protective face so as to be connect tangentially to it.
- each ventilation plate is made from a sheet metal blank drilled with holes, cut to the measurements of an area mask ventilation and fitted in a rebate insertion, said blank being preformed according to the curve of the corresponding part of the mask so that this forms a continuous surface without roughness.
- the monobloc shell can also be fitted with two lateral openings at the ears, intended to be covered with a resistant plate provided with orifices.
- the monobloc shell includes a upper part and two lateral sides which are connect by a lower part below the chin so as to completely surround the face, the lower part serving as support for a bib neck protection.
- the monobloc shell includes, on the face, a facial opening limited by a rebate in which fits an element of vision realized in a transparent and resistant material.
- the one-piece shell is provided, at the forehead level, a ventilation area separate from the facial opening by an upper rib in arch shape joining the two lateral sides of the hull substantially at the level of the temples and which connects a midrib of stiffening, so as to limit two openings each surrounded by a rebate in which fits a plate pierced with holes.
- the mask is advantageously provided with a second ventilation zone bucco-nasal including an opening in the lower part of the vision element and limited by a rebate in which fits a plate resistant with holes.
- the shell can be obtained from a plastic material or composite injected, molded or thermoformed.
- the protective face comprising at least the element of vision can be obtained from a polycarbonate bulletproof quality with preforming according to the curve of the hull.
- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a mask according to the invention worn by a fencer.
- Figure 2 is a side view of the mask according to figure 1.
- FIG. 3 is a front view of the shell, with partial tears of the resistant elements.
- Figure 4 is a detail view, in section at level of an upper rib.
- Figure 5 is a side view of another embodiment.
- Figure 6 is a side view of a mask for child.
- FIG. 1 there is shown schematically in perspective a fencer mask 1 according to the invention comprising a protective face 2 intended to cover the face and fixed on a support frame 3.
- the carcass of support shown in side view in FIG. 2, forms a one-piece plastic shell 10 relatively rigid, including an upper part 10a covering the head and two lateral sides 10b which are connected below the chin by a part lower 10c so as to completely surround the face, as shown in Figure 1.
- the shell 10 is associated with a protective face 2 which is made up, at least at eye level, of an element of vision 5A in transparent plastic which covers a facial opening 5 formed on the front of the shell 10.
- a protective face 2 which is made up, at least at eye level, of an element of vision 5A in transparent plastic which covers a facial opening 5 formed on the front of the shell 10.
- On the lateral sides 10b and the lower part 10c thereof is fixed a added flap 4 for neck protection.
- the 5A viewing element consists of a curved plate made of a transparent material and resistant and covering the central opening 5 which offers a perfect field of vision, at least in terms of eyes.
- the facial opening 5 is limited by a f1 rebate in which fits the vision element 5A which is thus connected tangentially to the shell 10 so as to form a continuous surface without roughness likely to catch on the tip of a foil.
- the one-piece shell 10 is provided with at least one upper ventilation area consisting of a wide opening 6 formed at the forehead and limited, side of facial opening 5 by a rib upper 11 in the form of a hoop which joins the two lateral sides 10b of the shell 10 substantially at temple level.
- a middle rib 15 connects the central part of the rib 11 at the top of the hull so as to stiffen the assembly.
- the two openings 6 thus arranged are each surrounded by a f2 rebate in which fits a plate resistant 6A consisting of a sheet metal blank drilled with holes and cut to the dimensions of the opening corresponding 6.
- this blank is preformed according to the curve of the corresponding part of the mask so as to connect tangentially to the shell 10 and to the viewing element 5A to form a surface keep on going.
- the mask 1 is provided with other ventilation zones, respectively an opening lower 7 made at the level of the mouth and two side openings 8 formed at the ears.
- the lower opening 7 is formed in the viewing element 5a and is limited by a f3 rebate in which fits a plate resistant 7A which, like plate 6A, is made up a sheet of metal sheet pierced with holes and preformed according to the curve of the lower part of the viewing element 5A.
- each opening side 8 is surrounded by a f4 rebate in which fits a resistant plate 8A, so to promote hearing.
- the two ventilation zones respectively frontal 6 and bucco-nasal 7, allow the ventilation and cooling of the shooter's head as well as breathing, with air circulation between one and the other.
- the shell 10 is obtained at from a plastic material injected, molded or thermoformed, for example ABS or polycarbonate.
- the shell 10 can also be obtained at from a composite material injected, molded or thermoformed, such as fiberglass with resin, carbon fiber with resin. In one case as in the other, these materials present the advantage of obtaining excellent resistance with a very significant lightening of the whole mask by compared to traditional masks.
- the 5A vision element that must be transparent can be obtained preferentially by preforming of a bulletproof quality polycarbonate, according to the curve of the shell 10 in which it is integrated without roughness.
- This polycarbonate could for example be product sold under the LEXAN brand.
- Preforming allows you to work viewing element 5A in optimal conditions of the material, without risk of tension appearing likely to cause microcracks and term breaks.
- the viewing element 5A has undergone a anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment.
- this element of preformed vision 5A is detachably fixed in the rabbet f1 of the shell 10 by means of screws or rivets 13, so as to make it interchangeable.
- the viewing element 5A is a wearing part which could lose its optical qualities over time.
- the elements of bucco-nasal ventilation 7A and side 8A, 9A can be fixed in rabbets f1, F3, f4 of the shell 10 by gluing and / or stapling 14.
- the ventilation elements 6A, 7A, 8A, 9A will be made of stainless steel.
- a perforated steel sheet has the advantage of allowing a sharper cut and a easier bonding due to the rigidity of the sheet, which is not the case of a fence. In addition, this facilitates permanent shaping of these elements.
- the bucco-nasal ventilation opening 7 is provided in the shell 10, the lower part of which 10a is associated with a rib 12 substantially triangular has one f1 rebate on one side for the viewing element 5a and, on the other side of a rabbet f3 into which the plate fits resistant 7A.
- a shock absorbing lining not shown, which is made, for example, of foam or textile and extends outside by the flap 4.
- Such a covering is made removable by hook-and-loop fasteners, to adapt each size to different possible morphologies of the head of the shooter.
- the flap 4 can be sandwiched on inside and outside of the hull.
- the shell 10 and the protective face 2 can be made in a single piece 9 made up entirely of one solid, transparent and resistant material, and provided at least one ventilation opening 6 placed outside of the field of vision and limited by a rebate f, said zone being covered with a resistant plate 6A provided with orifices and fitting into said rebate f so as to be in continuity of the external face of the shell 10.
- Such an embodiment can be interesting for small masks intended for children.
- a mask according to the invention therefore has the advantage, compared to traditional masks, of allow the view of the face and improve the aesthetics while giving great security.
- the cost can also be lowered as far as the different elements can be easily produced in series, by molding or plastic injection.
- the shell 10 offers a surface allowing personalized decoration where affixing advertising logos.
