Description

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Druckform entsprechend dem Oberbegriff des ersten Anspruchs.
Druckformen der genannten Art werden insbesondere in Tiefdruckverfahren eingesetzt. Die Vertiefungen in der Druckform werden in bekannter Weise durch Ätzen oder Gravieren, das ist ein mechanischer Abtrag, oder neuerdings auch durch Laserbearbeitung, erzeugt. Das Gravieren, bekannt von Stichen und Radierungen, wird für künstlerische Zwecke eingesetzt. Druckformen werden in der Regel aus Metall, beispielsweise Kupfer oder Stahl, hergestellt. Das Ätzen und die Laserbearbeitung der Metalloberflächen wird zum Einbringen von figürlichen Darstellungen und Schrift eingesetzt. Diese Verfahren eignen sich insbesondere für den industriellen Einsatz und damit hohe Druckauflagen. Das Ätzverfahren weist den Nachteil auf, daß verbrauchte Ätzbäder einer sorgfältigen und teuren Entsorgung bedürfen. Bei der Bearbeitung von Metallflächen durch Laser zur Herstellung von Druckformen hat es sich als nachteilig erwiesen, daß durch das Aufschmelzen über die Oberfläche der Druckform hinausreichende Schmelzgrate entstehen, die nachträglich entfernt werden müssen. Diese nachträgliche Bearbeitung ist ein Kostenfaktor. Außerdem werden dadurch die Kanten der Vertiefungen unscharf.
Aus den Veröffentlichungen EP 0 400 621 A2, DE 39 25 509 A1, GB 2 303 094 A sowie dem IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin, Band 26, Nr. 4, Juli 1983, Seite 495, sind Druckformen bekannt, bei denen eine Keramikschicht auf einem Tragkörper aus Metall aufgetragen ist. Eine haltbare und innige Verbindung von Metall und Keramik ist nur mittels aufwändiger Auftragsverfahren des Keramikwerkstoffs möglich, beispielsweise dem Flammspritzen oder mit Hilfe einer Beschichtungskanone. Die Kombination von Metall und Keramik ist wegen der unterschiedlichen Ausdehnungskoeffizienten und Biegekoeffizienten der beiden Werkstoffe problematisch. Es besteht deshalb die Gefahr des Abplatzens der Keramikschicht von dem Tragkörper.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist es, eine Druckform vorzustellen, die ohne die oben aufgeführten Nachteile einfach und sauber herzustellen ist und eine hohe Standzeit bei gleichbleibender Druckqualität aufweist.
Die Lösung der Aufgabe erfolgt mit Hilfe der kennzeichnenden Merkmale des ersten Anspruchs. Weitere vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung werden in den Unteransprüchen beansprucht.
Eine erfindungsgemäße Druckform aus Keramik hat eine hohe Standzeit bei gleichbleibender Druckqualität. Sie eignet sich insbesondere zur Herstellung von Klischees. Die für die zu druckenden Darstellungen und die Schrift erforderlichen Vertiefungen lassen sich in der Regel durch alle für Keramik geeignete Bearbeitungsverfahren herstellen. Die bei der Herstellung entstehenden scharfen Konturenkanten gewährleisten eine saubere Wiedergabe mit scharfen Kanten der im Druck wiedergegebenen Darstellungen und Texte.
Um saubere und scharfkantige Konturen zu erreichen, ist es vorteilhaft, wenn der Korndurchmesser des Keramikwerkstoffs kleiner als 10 µm ist. Als besonders vorteilhaft hat es sich erwiesen, wenn der Korndurchmesser unter 5 µm liegt. Je geringer der Korndurchmesser ist, desto höher ist die mögliche Biegefestigkeit des Werkstoffs, die erzielbare Oberflächengüte sowie die Konturgenauigkeit.
Als vorteilhaftes Bearbeitungsverfahren zur Materialabtragung für die Vertiefungen hat sich die Bearbeitung mit einem energiereichen Laserstrahl erwiesen. Für die Bearbeitung der Oberflächen der Druckformen ist das gleiche Laserbehandlungsverfahren verwendbar, mit dem beispielsweise eine Beschriftung der Kugelköpfe von Keramik-Endoprothesen des Hüftgelenks erfolgt. Durch diese vorgenommene Beschriftung mittels eines gesteuerten Laserstrahls entstehen lesbare Vertiefungen. Dieses Verfahren zur Kennzeichnung der Kugelköpfe hat sich bereits bewährt, wurde aber nicht für diesen erfinderischen Zweck genutzt. Der Materialabtrag der Vertiefungen beträgt etwa 15 bis 25 µm.
Das Abtragsverfahren mittels Laser unterscheidet sich wesentlich von dem aus der EP 0 741 117 A1 bekannten Verfahren. Dort wird eine speziell dotierte Oberfläche eines Keramikwerkstoffs mit einem Laserstrahl so behandelt, daß sich diese Oberfläche verfärbt. Dadurch wird auf der Oberfläche der Keramik direkt ein Bild erzeugt, das sich aber nicht von der Oberfläche der Keramik reproduzieren läßt. Aus diesem Grund unterscheidet sich die Laserbehandlung der Keramikoberfläche aus der genannten Schrift wesentlich von der Bearbeitung einer Keramikoberfläche zum Zwecke der Materialabtragung.
Die Oberfläche der Druckform entscheidet wesentlich über die Druckqualität. Aus diesem Grund ist es vorteilhaft, wenn die Oberfläche der Druckvorlagen mindestens fein geschliffen ist und eine Rauhtiefe aufweist, die etwa bei 0,5 µm liegt. Eine hohe Konturenschärfe und eine gute Reinigung der Flächen, auf denen die Farbe nicht für eine Druckwiedergabe vorgesehen ist, wird mit einer polierten Oberfläche erreicht, deren Rauhtiefe Ra kleiner als 0,5 µm ist.
Die Druckvorlagen aus Keramik können sowohl plattenförmig als auch walzenförmig sein. Es bietet sich damit die Formgebung der bisher bekannten Druckformen an. Als Werkstoff eignen sich alle Hochleistungskeramiken. Dazu zählen beispielsweise Keramiken auf Aluminiumoxid- oder auf Zirkonoxid-Basis. Auch Siliciumnitride bzw. -karbide eignen sich als Werkstoffe. Die Herstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen Druckform erfordert nur einen einzigen Bearbeitungsvorgang, der sich dazu unter Anwendung eines umweltfreundlichen Verfahrens, ohne Erfordernis der Entsorgung von umweltgefährdenden Abfallstoffen, durchführen läßt. Außerdem ist keine weitere Nachbearbeitung erforderlich.
Die scharfkantige Kontur der Darstellungen und der Schrift sowie die hohe Qualität und geringe Rauhigkeit der Oberfläche gewährleisten, daß ein sauberer Farbauftrag auf das zu bedruckende Medium, entweder direkt oder indirekt, gewährleistet ist. Beim direkten Druck, beispielsweise beim Auftrag auf Papier, ist aufgrund der geringen Affinität der Farbe zur Keramik ein sauberes Herauslösen der Farbe aus der Druckform gewährleistet. Ebenso ist es bei indirekten Druckverfahren, beispielsweise beim Tampondruckverfahren. Bei diesen Druckverfahren wird die Farbe zunächst von der Druckform auf einen Zwischenträger, beispielsweise eine Gummiwalze, und dann erst von diesem auf die zu bedruckende Oberfläche übertragen.
An Hand von Ausführungsbeispielen wird die Erfindung näher erläutert.

In Figur 1 ist die Druckform 1 eine Platte aus Aluminiumoxid, Al2O3. In die polierte Oberfläche 2 ist die zu druckende Darstellung 3 durch Vertiefungen 4 mittels Laserabtrag eingebracht worden. Die Vertiefungen 4 sind an der weggebrochenen unteren rechten Ecke der Druckform 1 zu erkennen. Weiterhin sind die scharfen Kanten 5 der Konturen der Vertiefungen 4 zu erkennen.
Figur 2 zeigt eine walzenförmige Druckform 10. Sie dreht sich um eine Achse 11 mittels eines hier nicht dargestellten Antriebs, um die Farbe zunächst auf einen Zwischenträger oder direkt auf die zu bedruckende Fläche zu übertragen. Die Oberfläche 12 ist ebenfalls poliert. Zum Drucken der Darstellungen 13 werden die Vertiefungen 14 mit Farbe gefüllt. Wie im vorgehenden Ausführungsbeispiel, sind auch hier die scharfen Kanten 15 der Konturen der Vertiefungen 14, insbesondere im Schnitt, deutlich zu erkennen. Der Werkstoff der vorliegenden walzenförmigen Druckform 10 kann beispielsweise aus Zirkonoxid-Keramik bestehen. Sie weist besonders hinsichtlich der Biegewechselfestigkeit gute mechanische Eigenschaften auf.

Claims (9)

  1. Druckform (1; 10), in die zu druckende Darstellungen und Schrift (3; 13) durch Materialabtrag als Vertiefungen (4; 14) eingearbeitet sind, wobei die Vertiefungen für das Drucken mit Farbe aufgefüllt sind und die Farbe direkt oder indirekt auf die zu bedruckende Fläche übertragbar ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Druckform (1; 10) ein Vollkörper aus Keramik ist und dass der Korndurchmesser des keramischen Werkstoffs der Druckform (1; 10) kleiner als 10 µm ist.
  2. Druckform nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Korndurchmesser des keramischen Werkstoffs der Druckform (1; 10) kleiner als 5 µm ist.
  3. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Vertiefungen (4; 14) der zu druckenden Darstellungen und der Schrift (3; 13) durch einen Laserstrahl aus der Oberfläche (2; 12) der Druckform (1; 10) herausgearbeitet worden sind.
  4. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Materialabtrag der Vertiefungen (4; 14) etwa 15 bis 25 µm beträgt.
  5. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ihre Oberfläche (2; 12) feingeschliffen ist.
  6. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ihre Oberfläche (2; 12) poliert ist.
  7. Druckform nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Oberfläche (2; 12) eine Rauhtiefe Ra von kleiner als 0,5 µm aufweist.
  8. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie (1) plattenförmig ist.
  9. Druckform nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie (10) walzenförmig ist.
