Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for Improvement of gravure and offset printability of coated and uncoated printing papers by increasing the proportion of filler in these Papers on the top and bottom or in the Outer layers of the paper web by using Retention agents.
  • SC and LWC roll printing papers For use in large print runs, the State of the art so-called SC and LWC roll printing papers used that the increased Pressure loss requirements. Under SC papers there are roll printing papers understood that up to 35% mineral Contain filler and by post-treatment in a super calender with high gloss and smoothness exhibit.
  • SC stands for "Supercalendered”.
  • LWC papers are understood Roll paper that weighs up to 15% contain mineral filler and inside or outside on both sides of the paper machine a pigmented surface coating, the Dash, are provided. These printing papers will be after painting also with one Supercalender for high gloss and Treated smoothness.
  • the abbreviation LWC stands here for "light weight coated”.
  • SC and LWC printing papers were initially on so-called Fourdrinier paper machines manufactured. These papers had the disadvantage of the so-called Bilateralism, d. H. through the one-sided Drainage on the strainer was at the bottom Washed out filler and fine material so that the Screen side of the paper always rougher than that The top was and the paper web, in the Z direction seen an uneven or crooked Ash cross profile had. different Filler or ash content, however, is conditional inevitably uneven pressure drop Top and screen side, so that such papers the no longer meet today's requirements.
  • Multi-layer printing papers formed by Multi-layer headbox and twin-wire former are in the German literature "Wochenblatt für Textilfabrikation", 1987, page 662 to 667. It also reveals that the filler distribution in the paper web in the outer layers by adding filler in the Outer channels of a multi-layer headbox can be influenced in a targeted manner.
  • US-A-5482595 describes a method for increasing the dewatering characteristic of a pulp in a papermaking operation using alum, ionic polyacrylamide and cationic starch. There is no reference to the use of filler in this document, much less to the use of additional retention agents to increase the amount of filler in the papers on the top and bottom by using retention agents.
  • DE-A-4436317 relates to a process for the production of paper, the retention of mineral fillers being improved by, inter alia, addition of an anionic water-soluble polymer flocculant followed by a water-soluble cationic copolymer flocculant with a high molecular weight ,
  • the outer layers of the stock suspension forming the paper web are additionally provided with retention aids.
  • DE-42 37 309 finally teaches a method for the production of a fibrous web, one Fibrous suspension with the help of a Headbox evenly on a sieve or is distributed between two sieves.
  • a Headbox evenly on a sieve or is distributed between two sieves.
  • Avoidance of fluctuations in Basis cross-sectional weight is the retention of Sectional fiber suspension on the sieve influenced by retention agents in the headbox is metered in sections.
  • the disadvantage of this method is that increased fine and filler content of the middle Layer the anchoring of the long fibers containing outer layer is deteriorated and there is a decrease in the Z strength.
  • the Paper tends to split if it is, such as B. at Offset printing, is loaded in the Z direction.
  • Retention agents in papermaking is has been known for a long time and enables good filling and Fiber retention on the sheet forming screen.
  • Such retention aids are generally before a mixing element, such as. B. the Headbox pump of the fiber suspension, added so that this before leaving the Spread the lip or nozzle of the headbox evenly the retention agent is mixed.
  • retention aids can be used differently strong cationic or anionic charge can be used.
  • strongly Loaded retention agents improve the Retention of fillers and fines, can however depending on the reaction time with the Form fiber pulp suspension large fiber flakes, which has a negative impact on the Have fiber formation in the paper sheet formed.
  • Fibrous suspension before the headbox with a first, for example cationic Provide retention aid and mix well.
  • anionic retention agent is then, but before the headbox the fiber suspension, added and mixed.
  • the oppositely charged retention agents react with each other and with the fiber, Fillers and fines of the stock suspension and contribute to a much better Total retention at.
  • additional retention aids compared to that in of the headbox Fibrous suspension already existing Retention agents have an opposite charge.
  • polyethyleneimines polyacrylamides
  • Epichlorohydrin resins Epichlorohydrin resins
  • polyvinylamines individually or in a mixture.
  • Cationic hydrocolloids are also useful used. These can be known from per se cationic starch or cationized guar consist. When using cationic starch or guar there is the additional possibility about the degree of cationation and the chain length the starch or guar the charge and To influence network formation.
  • this will be additional retention aids in a headbox with multi-layer device in the chamber for upper and Lower layer injected.
  • Another convenient method is that when using a twin wire former with gap device the additional retention agent in returning run of the upper and lower sieve the screen mesh is sprayed.
  • a headbox to carry out the inventive method points across Flow direction of the stock suspension Devices for uniform dosing of additional retention agent.
  • the device consists of Outlet nozzle in a line that is transverse to the Extends flow direction, arranged Bores, the inflow devices for the Have retention aids.
  • Another device especially for one Multi-layer headbox with three layers and with Step diffusers, is that upstream of the respective step diffusers of the top and lower layers of holes for injecting Retention means are arranged.
