Definitions
- the invention relates to an exhaust system with one for exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine flow-through catalytic converter for catalytic conversion the exhaust gases, the exhaust gas catalytic converter between two pieces of exhaust pipe is arranged.
- the exhaust pipe pieces each form a pipe connection to the catalytic converter.
- the invention relates in particular Exhaust systems of motorized two-wheelers, d. H. motorcycles.
- DE 35 43 011 A1 describes a carrier body for an exhaust gas catalytic converter known for converting exhaust gas from a motor vehicle engine.
- the carrier body is made up of corrugated and smooth sheet metal layers, which with a Catalyst material can be coated.
- the sheet metal layers form walls of one A large number of exhaust gases can flow through and are inside one tubular housing arranged.
- Honeycomb body with roughly parallel exhaust gases Channels known.
- the honeycomb structure can be extruded, among other things be made of ceramic materials.
- DE 44 29 878 A1 is an exhaust system for a Internal combustion engine, in particular for a gasoline engine of a motor vehicle, with a flow through for exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine Exhaust gas catalytic converter, each on one of its two end faces Flanged ends to an exhaust pipe piece.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust system with a Exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine flowable exhaust gas catalyst for Specify catalytic conversion of the exhaust gases, in which the catalytic converter is easily integrated into the exhaust system, the exhaust system especially for the retrofitting of catalytic converters Motorcycles should be suitable.
- the exhaust gas catalytic converter is between two, each forming a line connection to the catalytic converter and each abut a stop surface of the catalytic converter Exhaust pipe pieces arranged.
- the exhaust system instructs at least one at least one bracing element acting on the exhaust pipe pieces, with which the exhaust gas catalyst clamped between the exhaust pipe pieces is.
- the catalytic converter can easily be retrofitted in The exhaust system can be integrated by placing the exhaust system in one place is separated, the catalytic converter is used at the point so that the two separate pieces of exhaust pipe for contact with each come a stop surface of the catalytic converter, and the catalytic converter with at least one bracing element between the exhaust pipe pieces is tensioned.
- the tensioning element is preferably under tension standing elastically length-adjustable element, preferably a Coil spring.
- An embodiment of the exhaust system is also preferred, in which the exhaust gas catalytic converter has a housing that at least in each case one of the bracing elements braced with the exhaust pipe pieces is. In this development, can at the transitions of the catalytic converter a short bracing element for each of the two exhaust pipe sections be used. Short bracing elements allow a special stable attachment.
- the at least one bracing element is via a Eyelet connected to the at least one exhaust pipe piece.
- the eyelet can for example, are welded to the exhaust pipe piece.
- Such Connection is simple and inexpensive to produce.
- the exhaust system in a further development a housing, with at least one end face of the housing a section of the respective exhaust pipe piece and along the housing a connecting region extending transversely to the circumferential direction plug into each other. Under the circumferential direction, the circumferential direction of the Housing understood at the respective end face.
- the exhaust system has one at both ends of the connection areas, with the housing at both ends of the Exhaust pipe piece is included.
- the housing includes the exhaust pipe piece at one end and includes the exhaust pipe piece at the other end the housing.
- the first end mentioned is preferably located in the direction of flow in front of the catalytic converter. That way any small gap between the housing and the respective Flue gas pipe piece not directly flowed so that a good seal of the Line connections can be reached.
- the housing is approximately in one radial direction extending elevation on the respective stop surface forms.
- the elevation is preferably one in the circumferential direction running bead.
- the at least one bracing element ensures that the exhaust pipe pieces even with thermal change in length of the exhaust gas catalytic converter and / or the exhaust pipe pieces on the contact each stop surface.
- a bead gives the housing strength and can be produced quickly, for example with the aid of a pressing tool.
- the a reaction area extending in the flow direction has catalytically active material, the reaction area has a Length less than 15 cm, preferably about 10 cm.
- the exhaust system 1 has one Exhaust gas catalytic converter 2 for the catalytic conversion of exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine on.
- an exhaust pipe piece 4 is connected, the Casing tube 8 of the exhaust gas catalytic converter 2 and in each case a section of the exhaust pipe piece 4 along an extending in the flow direction Plug connection area U into one another. It includes both front ends 9 each the exhaust pipe piece 4, the casing tube 8, so that a tight pipe connection against gas passage is formed.
- the exhaust pipe pieces 4 meet with their ends on a stop surface 3 an outer bead 10 of the casing tube 8 running in the circumferential direction on.
- honeycomb body with a catalytically active coating contains.
- the honeycomb body consists of stacked and intertwined Sheet layers that carry the catalytically active material.
- honeycomb body by extrusion and subsequent Firing made from a ceramic material.
- the length L is about 10 cm.
- the exhaust system 11 shown in FIG. 2 differs from that Exhaust system 1 with regard to the line connection between the casing pipe 18 of the catalytic converter 12 and that on the right side of FIG. 2 Exhaust pipe piece 14 shown.
- the casing tube has an inner bead 20 on the stop surface 13 of which the end of the exhaust pipe piece 14 triggers.
- the jacket tube 18 includes the end portion of the exhaust pipe piece 14. As shown by an arrow, there is a line connection between the exhaust pipe piece 14 and the housing 18 at the gas inlet of the catalytic converter 12. Any slight leaks between the casing tube 18 and the exhaust pipe piece 14 and the exhaust pipe piece 4 are not significant in the operation of the exhaust system 11, because the exhaust gas flow is directed past the leaks.
- the exhaust system 21 (FIG. 3) has an exhaust gas catalytic converter 22, the Jacket tube 28 has a smaller cross-sectional area in the middle than that Exhaust line pieces 24 to which the exhaust gas catalytic converter 22 is connected.
- the ends of the exhaust pipe pieces 24 each abut a stop surface 23 of a conical section of the casing tube 28.
- Of the Exhaust gas catalytic converter 22 has two straps 25 between the exhaust pipe pieces 24 braced. Due to the partial representation in Fig. 3 is only to see one of the straps 25.
- the strap 25 is about each a bracket 27 connected to the exhaust pipe pieces 24. It exists at least partially of an elastic material. Through the closure 26 it is possible to set a certain predetermined voltage.
- an exhaust gas catalytic converter is simple Way integrated.
- the exhaust system according to the invention is cost of such retrofitting a variety of existing devices powered by internal combustion engines and vehicles can be used.
